Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
Caius had stated they would fight together, and had left room for Celes to walk with him, not behind him, if she so wished. She was his partner now, after all, not some damsel. He had said it himself what she was. Either way, it seemed there was no real danger as the "foe" at hand seemed to be quite partial to Caius, cuddling up into his arms very soon after he had scooped it up. It had very clearly imprinted within moments, and likely wouldn't be leaving his side anytime soon. Celes was stunned it seemed, though didn't seem all that happy either. She would note that a horde of dragons had shown up and caused a rampage quite recently.
"I know" He spoke softly. "I killed one that'd been causing trouble. Hadn't realized it had a nest, nor a remaining egg. For all that it's parent might have done though, the hatchling didn't deserve to be alone" Caius would add. While he had attempted to put the egg into more capable raising hands, he clearly had no intentions of abandoning the creature now that it was hatched. The odds of someone taking a dragon from him now, with the recent rampage, were slim. But Caius knew this was a possibility. He'd prepared for the possibility. Him taking the egg had been a spur of the moment decision, but... He'd had several months now to consider what to do if he couldn't make Plan A work. Plan A was now officially a dud, so... Plan B.
While Celes was stating her concern, the dragon had already seemed to get comfortable and had fallen fast asleep in Caius' arms. "I'm aware" He responded again when she would relay her concerns. "I'm not the most used to taking care of creatures either, but... I guess I'm going to have to learn. I was prepared for the possibility. Though I don't ever recall seeing any books on dragon care, as much as I've looked" He would admit. "I can feed them while they're still small just fine. I hunt for my own meats quite often, it's an old habit I picked up from my homeworld. I generally end up with more than I can eat in the short term without it spoiling, and I'm still working on ways to preserve food without a cooler or other preservant. So in the short term, there will be plenty. When it gets bigger... I'll have to teach it to hunt and assist me on mine, to accommodate for the added dietary requirements" He began to muse aloud, seeming to be reviewing the plan he'd made in case Plan B needed to be enacted.
"As for what to do about when they get bigger, when I go into towns... I suppose it depends on how big they get" Caius would admit. "If it ends up a smaller variant, then I can bullshit what type of creature it is to townsfolk. If it's huge... I'll have to consider living arrangements for when I go to town and certain jobs, ensure it's got the independence to hunt on it's own if I'm not around.
I can't release Vordun into the wild, unfortunately."
He'd already named it.
"It'd likely be mistaken for a beast and attacked. Even if Vordun kills their opposition in self defense, more will come as a result. The idea of Vordun becoming used to attacking people until he's finally slain is about as bad as leaving him to die in that cave. So that's out.
As for the whole handling a dragon in general..." He trailed off, and he let out a sigh. "The fact it will be a challenge isn't lost on me. I haven't even owned a puppy before, much less a dragon."
But Caius knew this was something he had brought on himself. And something that he would embrace and make the most of.
"A dragon might not be too bad as a combat partner either though..." He mused aloud. "Blades, magic and dragons" He added as a grin started to cross his face. "I want to see the look on Cortez's face when the day comes."
He almost wanted to laugh a bit at the thought. He had just visualized the idea of kicking down that bastard's door with a dragon in tow. And it was glorious.

Use your own eyes, and see for yourself which side I'm on.
”Voldrun,” Celes repeated. He’d already named it. Whatever she said next might as well have been directed towards a brick wall.
Celes sighed, touching at her forehead. Caius was prepared, he said. He’d read up as much as he could on the subject of dragon care and he had a plan. And who else would take this creature in need? Celes wanted argue. With every fiber of her being, she wanted to argue, but she knew it wouldn’t do any good. Caius had already made up his mind, and if this dragon was what he needed to climb out of his slump than so be it.
That didn’t mean she had to like it though.
”A dragon,” she said again. ”You’re really-?” And then she laughed faintly under her breath. ”I don’t know why I’m surprised.”
Looking down at it, the monster really was cute in its own way. Its eyes were lidless and staring like any reptile, its scales were still wet, and its wings most resembled wrinkled rag, but there was something about the way it curled up in Caius’ arms that melted even her heart. At least a little.
”I guess that would be one way to make an entrance,” she conceded. ”But are you sure about this? Really sure? I’m not worried about now, but when it grows...Well, dragons aren’t exactly a domesticated species. Even trained, its instincts will tell it to eat anything that moves, humans included. And it’s always possible it could snap and hurt someone without trying.”
Celes bit at her nail. The thing was staring up at her in its blank, interested way. Could she really leave it in the wilderness to die? ”I’m just saying. We shouldn’t jump to any decisions without thinking it through.”
"Vordun" He corrected. It was only a small slight on the name, but it was better to nip it in the bud now than have to correct her repeatedly later. "I'm as sure as I'm going to be" Caius would answer then as he noted that the small lizard in his arms had fallen asleep. So much excitement had no doubt tired it out already when it was so small. "It's true that I haven't exactly had much experience in the department of dragons, or even things that aren't livestock. I'm used to tending to cows, sheep, goats, chickens, horses, chocobos... But not this. I won't lie and say it won't be a challenge" He would admit. But then he smiled slightly. "But it can't be any worse of a challenge than hunting a daemon master" He joked in turn. A joke. A joke just seemed... Nice. Nice to speak. Nice to hear, even if from his own mouth. After everything, it was nice to have some semblance of humour again.
But believe it or not, Caius was very much aware of the risks. There wasn't much known about the behaviours or development of dragons. While species had existed before, they hadn't been something that'd been more than a sighting or two, usually leading to death, before recently when many of them were released into Zephon. Information, well... Information was fairly sparse, even for a detailed study like Caius. Who knew if he would even be able to train Vordun? Celes had noted that his instincts might kick in, and he might hurt an innocent. Caius was aware of this. Caius really only knew enough from his studies to know how to feed it, and used information on other lizard species to begin a basis for other aspects of care. Everything else... Would have to come from experience. From trial and error.
"I very well understand the risks. I've thought on it. I've had a lot of time to think about it" He would remind her. Caius had known this was a possibility, even if he hadn't thought it would happen. He had thought he had more time. "Well, on the bright side... If this goes well, I might make a pretty gil from writing a dragon care book" Caius would joke lightly. "I'm thinking the working title of Dragons & Blades: The Warrior's Guide To Caring For Little Monsters."
"Hmm..." He mused aloud afterword though, as if inspiration had struck. "Dragons and blades... Dragonblades. Kind of has a ring to it, doesn't it?"

Use your own eyes, and see for yourself which side I'm on.
Caius couldn’t be persuaded. She honestly hadn’t expected him to be, but she still couldn’t help a beleaguered sigh as he justified himself. He’d done his research. He’d thought about it. Celes supposed she couldn’t argue that -- he was an adult afterall and likely older than she was. He could make his own choices, and she didn’t take enough issue with it to leave him over them. Still, she couldn’t help a cautious optimism as he coddled the dragon, eyes bright and aimed towards the future. The Dragonblades. It really did slip of the tongue. Celes let out a little laugh despite herself.
”I guess we will need a name,” she admitted. ”This all feels so official now. And what will we do as the Dragonblades? Help those in need? Hunt down evil? It’s a little over the top, but I don’t mind.” Celes knelt down beside them, legs folded to her side as she watched the dragon. Vordun sniffled at the noise, but quickly settled his head back into Caius’ jacket once Celes had stopped moving. It let out a short series of whining noises that Celes could only assume were snores.
”Where should we go?” Celes glanced at him, suddenly serious again. ”If we’re making these plans, we’ll need something more solid than just names. We’ll need a base of operations -- or a home city at least. And a recruitment method. Strategies and rules, I suppose, if we’re taking this past just a few stray mercenaries.” Celes smiled wryly. It was all well and good to go about spouting ideas, but it was something else to actually follow through on them. She knew that all too well.
”Well. I guess it’s not something we need to think about tonight. We’ve already been through more than enough. What do you say to calling it a night?” She offered him a smile that she hoped didn’t come off too dry. She was still getting used to this whole “comfortable around people” thing.
”I’ll set up the tent. Then we can talk in the morning. And the morning after that. And after that until we know what we’re doing. I hope you don’t mind planning. We’ll need a lot of it.” Celes glanced at him and shook her head. ”Stay with the dragon. It needs you. I’ll set up everything myself.” Celes got to her feet again, careful not to rouse Vordun as she started back towards the fire.
As she left Caius to his thoughts, she was surprised at her own optimism. They were alive, for one. And safe more or less. But most importantly, they had a plan, and that wasn’t something Celes could say for her entire stay in this world before now. As she rummaged through their supplies, she couldn’t help a slight smirk.
Even the worst of nights could be salvaged with the right attitude, it seemed.
