II. PERSONA
Quina is a character with a rather childlike curiosity for the world and is always ready to explore new locations to find new tastes. Quina is first and foremost a Gourmand who loves to find new cuisines and tastes, so the first thing the Qu tends to do upon arriving in a new place is to sniff the air for anything that smells good. The Qu is always quick to taste-test the local wildlife for that search for new and special cuisines upon arriving in a new location. The small things in life excite the Qu greatly and Quina takes every new journey and adventure as a learning experience.
When it comes to it's hunger, Quina can become rather reckless defined by when the Qu had once jumped into the canal at Treno thinking that it's reflection was edible. Of course setbacks really don't bother the Qu, as Quina will quickly get back on his/her feet ready for whatever new experiences the Qu might come across. Quina has a great respect for elder Qus, and most likely anybody the Qu sees as a mentor figure, and even joined Zidane on his journey because Quina's Master had told the Qu to. Quina is also shown to have a rather vivid imagination when it comes to new delicacies as shown in a sidequests which hinted at Quina already surpassing his/her Master as a Gourmand.
When it comes to the actual adventure, Quina seems the most detached from most of the party. It's no wonder that the Qu's search for new delicacies and personal quest to master his/her skills as a Gourmand would make the Qu come off as a bit apathetic in that regard. This is shown many times as the Qu leaves the party to pursue his/her own interests, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Qu doesn't care. Quina is shown to be rather compassionate towards people it considers friends, and it really isn't that hard to get to that level with Quina, as shown when Quina tries to cheer Freya up as they head to Burmecia.

III. HISTORY
Quina spent most of it's life living in the Qu's Marsh of the Mist Continent. Living with his/her mentor Quale for the duration of this time, Quina has always strived to be the greatest Gourmand. At the start of FFIX Quina is seen in Alexandria Castle overseeing the other chefs as they went about preparing a feast for Princess Garnet's sixteenth birthday. It isn't clear when Quina leaves the castle, but the next time Quina is mentioned is under the moniker of the Strange Gourmand during the Festival of the Hunt. Sometime after the Festival of the Hunt ends Quina returns to the marsh.
A while later Quina is found by Zidane while s/he was trying to catch a frog to eat. Distressed by the fact that s/he was having no luck in catching one, Zidane shows up and catches one for him/her. After Zidane decides to hand over the frog to Quina, Quale shows up on the scene and scolds Quina for being too lazy to catch one for himself/herself. Soon afterwards Quale asks the party to take Quina along with them on their adventure. Soon enough Quina is traveling with Zidane and the others in hopes of reaching a higher rank as a Gourmand.
Obsessed with finding new delicacies, Quina tags along with the rest of the party as they travel from Gizamaluke Grotto to Bermucia and to Cleyra next. Disappointed that Cleyra had no exotic delicacies to speak of during their stay, Quina becomes fixated with a pair of pink mushrooms with questionable edibility. Before Alexandrian forces attack the city, Quina can be seen jumping into a whirlpool of sand thinking s/he say something delicious in it. After something causes the sandstorm protecting the city to break Alexandrian forces attack the city. This leads to Quina refusing to teleport with the rest of the party onto the Alexandrian airship "The Red Rose" due to not liking heights.
Fleeing on foot, Quina barely makes it out of there as the city is attacked by the Eidolon named Odin. Returning to Qu's Marsh, Quina isn't seen again by Zidane and the others for quite some time. When they do reunite Quina explains the s/he had much trouble coming back from Cleyra alone. Smelling something interesting, Quina inadvertently leads the party to Fossil Roo which just so happened to be the path from the Mist Continent to the Outer Continent that they needed. It takes awhile, but they finally make their way though.
In the Outer Continent they arrive at a dwarven city of Conde Petie where Quina rushes in certain of the fact that the food has to be good. This leads to a situation where someone tries to sell Quina a Pumpkin Bomb for 1000 gil. Quina however doesn't understand the need for currency and gets labelled as a thief because of it. The Qu has to flee the shop as a direct result of this and the party soon travels to the Black Mage Village. There Quina discovers chocobo egg being hatched by two Black Mages that s/he really wants to eat.
Despite his/her longing to eat the egg, the mages shoo Quina away and not too long afterwards the party head back to Conde Petie. Needing to cross the Mountain Pass just outside of Conde Petie, they run into the problem of needing to under go a marriage ritual in order to pass by. After Zidane and Dagger undergo the ritual, Quina and Vivi are able to sneak past the guards due to the guards being called to deal with a thief. Not long afterwards the party meets a little girl named Eiko stuck on a tree branch. Quina is deterred from eating her by her saying that she tastes terrible. This actually backfires and causes Quina to chase off after her Moogle named Mog intent on eating it.
After this point Quina really doesn't join back up with the party while they are on the Outer Continent. Showing up once to help Eiko cook dinner for Zidane and the others, Quina eventually gets left behind on Outer Continent. Eventually Quina is found by Zidane at Lindblum after the Qu washed up near the harbor scaring some unfortunate guardsmen. Quina resumes his/her quest to become a high ranking Gourmand as s/he once again travels with Zidane. After this point Quina doesn't get left behind anymore though there was one close call where the party almost forgot him/her while escaping from Terra.
After the party defeats Necron and Zidane disappears, Quina finds himself/herself back at Alexandria cooking up multiple delicacies. One particular day has Quina overseeing the other chef's prepare a feast for Tantalus's rendition of I Want to be your Canary just like s/he did at the start of the adventure. Quina remembers cheering along with the others when Zidane reveals himself onstage and Dagger reunites with him and then things get foggy. The Qu is still unsure of how s/he ended up in this strange new world. While still retaining major pieces of his/her memory bits and pieces are forgotten here and there.

ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE::
There was chaos in the kitchen. In Alexandria Castle this was just the sign of a normal day in the kitchen. As the other chefs rushed about to do their jobs, Quina stood on his/her tiptoes as the Qu sniffed the air. If someone actually witnessed this scene they would probably think that the castle was getting ready for a big feast, but no this was just for lunch. Things were chaotic, but that was probably just Quina's insistence on taste testing every dish before it went out to the tables.
Swinging his/her arms back and forth, Quina watched as they scurried around to try and get everything ready. In all honestly Quina didn't have too high an opinion of these chefs. Sure the food they created was tasty and all, but they didn't recognize the true potential of frogs in their dishes. One of them even visibly flinched at the idea of putting frogs in the soup as the main ingredient. For that reason alone they were not true Gourmands in the eyes of the Qu.
That was around when things really got strange even by the Qu's standards. One minute Quina had turned his/her head around to the sound of a pan crashing to the floor and the next thing that Quina knew s/he was falling from the sky. The fact that Quina was likely plummeting to his/her death didn't seem to matter at the moment. The only thing that Quina could focus on was a delicious smell that had drifted in the Qu's direction. What was a life or death situation compared to a new "yummy yummies" anyways?
The fall to the ground below was only slightly cushioned by some trees in the Qu's way. Yes it the landing was in fact really painful, but Quina had done worse and had felt worse before. Shrugging off the pain a few minutes later, Quina slowly picked himself/herself off the ground and took in his/her surroundings. S/He was lost in some kind of forest and was nowhere near the castle. Still none of that mattered as the delicious scent was still around and strong than before. Following his/her nose, Quina took off like a dart hoping to find brand new "yummy yummies" in this strange world.
