II. PERSONA
Chelal is a sweet girl with a bright, vivid, and curious personality. She loves to read, especially high fantasy fiction packed with sappy romance. She will spend hours, lazing in a tree after a fresh library trip, nose buried in whatever she could get her hands on that day. Sometimes, it was a book on alchemy. Sometimes, it was a cookbook. Most times, it was grand fiction. Allowing her mind to race and wander through the different universes of those pages, the scent of the old paper, the sounds of nature... It was her own personal paradise.
She has an adoration for cooking and will do all she can to make sure those she cares about are happy and fed -- especially those who can't afford a good meal on their own. She can even whip up a campfire and get grub going in just minutes! She's a master of both the hunt and foraging as well, holding a deep and intricate knowledge of the flora and fauna from her homeland of Ivalice and beyond.
On the flipside, she is also pants with directions. If not careful, she could lead herself in circles. She could not even read a map if she tried, so having her lead the charge will surely lead your party the wrong way. Perhaps, leave the navigator to someone else.

III. BACKGROUND
Chelal loves hand-to-hand combat, but when things get dicey she isn't afraid to play dirty by using her frying pan when push comes to shove. Having grown up in such a big household, playing dirty was sometimes the only way to survive the relentless sibling rivalry. She also volunteers at any local soup kitchens in her travels to share her recipes with anyone she can, and will even serve tables to make extra cash on the side.
IV. HISTORY
Having grown up the youngest of a large family of eight deep in the Golmore Jungle, Chelal learned from a young age how to use her fists to defend herself from her elder siblings and creatures who chose to be more than uncouth to her... which tended to more more often than not. Eight girls in a single household can get pretty intense, and Chelal had to make due to survive.
And though she loved her home, curiosity killed the cat. As a young girl, foraging for what ever she could get her little hands on to bring back to her village, she came across a caravan of humes who called themselves "nomads". They welcomed her with an unconditional love she had never felt with her homeland, so full of harsh traditions that she herself did not fully understand in her young age.
She assisted the nomads in secret as they travelled through the hostile jungle, frequently playing with the other children, attending reading lessons, and even learning to cook by the village elder, whom gifted her a cast iron frying pan at the end of their journey together.
This newfound education led Chelal down yet another path, as well.
Novels. Poetry. Literature.
But this newfound love was all she felt she needed in this world. Nothing could come between her, her food, and her books.
Until a particular day came when she found herself lost in the unforgiving jungle, foraging once more, aiding Eruyt Village once more as she hunted for the ingredients for salves, potions, and meal. Feeding the whole of her village was a challenge for the blossoming young woman, but she did her best each day to make sure everyone she cared for was content.
Lost in her work, she had not noticed the Diresaur closing in, ready for its latest meal...
She awoke on a beach. Not a dollar to her name, her clothes tattered and shredded, and nowhere to go. Just what was the strange place she found herself in, and why was she here?
Guess the only way from here is up.

ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE::
The salty ocean breeze caressed her skin with a sweet call, and Chelal opened her amber eyes to see the bright blue sky looming before her.
This wasn't Golmore. This wasn't Eruyt, her home, or her bed, or... anything she was familiar with.
She shot up and looked around her, only now noticing her soaked, tattered clothing sticking to her skin. Finally making it to her feet, her eyes scanned the sparkling ocean. What was she even looking for? A boat? A sign of life? Something to show her she wasn't losing her mind?
How did she even escape the Diresaur? Why was she here? Where even was she? She remembered nothing more than the heavy breathing of the apex predator, her blood-curdling screams, the pain shooting up her legs as she ran for her life...
And now she was... free. Free to walk the world, free to do as she pleased, free to meet humes, free to learn! She simply could not contain her excitement for the endless possibilities, bouncing excitedly as the slow realization set in on just how... curious her situation had become.
Now, she felt she could finally live.
And with that first step began the rest of her life. She made her way up the shore and down a little path, taking in the sights of the foreign land before her. She had never seen flora quite like this, and the berries on those bushes seemed delicious, but without knowledge of her local area, she couldn't bring herself to try them.
No need to die today, right?
She tended to observe the local fauna as well. Strange squirrel creatures caught her eye as they scampered over each other for an acorn, odd birds flew overhead singing excitedly to themselves. It was like nothing she had ever seen before, almost as if she was in another reality, another world altogether...
And she was so excited to see what this world had in store.
