”Humans are such interesting things, they are so like us… yet so different, I guess that makes sense though….”
There was a young girl here, in this dangerous place. This forest full of monsters and spirits, of all sorts of dangerous ilk.
A girl here, who up until a few moments has possessed a cherry, eager disposition. After all she had been rescued, so why wouldn't she be? She had been rescued by the hero of the hour! A hero who vowed to take her out of the big scary forest. Except….
”You failed, completely and utterly you idiot, ‘Run Run Ria, I'll hold them off!’ Such a pitiful display”
This child stood over an adult man, clad only in armor now torn asunder, with only a broken sword at his side. Directly in front of him stood the massive beast with which he had done battle, Others perhaps would have seen a brave man here, fighting down a beast in defense of a young girl. But not the girl looking at the remains, she saw nothing but a failure. A true success would be to take down the creature and bring the poor child safely home. That was what this type of person was supposed to be good at right? The ‘Heroic’ Type, yes, and so by falling here he could be called nothing but a failure. It was such a shame… she wanted to learn so much more about it, the ‘Hero’ There was a difference between knowing a concept and wanting to see it in action, the closest comparison she had was her fellow Esper’s trying to protect each other when the humans invaded their world. This was notably different from what she had wanted to see here.
”Whatever… a waste of time, that's all it's been"
Her voice became more mature, shifting from its childish tone as her form shifted, fading away slowly to reveal a woman more akin to her teens in appearance than the child that had once been there. More than that, clearly human ether if the ears were anything to go by. The woman continued to stare until eventually her expression turned to what one might call smug. Just another one that didn't make it. Just another one piled upon her road to knowledge. Maybe the next person could live up to expectations? She certainly hoped so! Why if this kept going on and on Provo would run out of able bodied people! That would not do at all! Not one but. Yes, she did so hope the next one was better because as is this was just…
Yes, plain and simple. She hadn't been able to learn anything and in turn the man had died. No one gained here, it was a net loss. Could he not have pushed just a little harder? Things like this were the best stimuli right? Should she have posed as a lover and wormed her way in that way instead? But that would have taken so much longer! A child was a simple, effective and she thought certain way to bring out the needed protective instinct. Her foot kicked the man over as she continued to observe, trying to find something, anything of merit to say she gained from this.
But… nothing, such a waste. She couldn't care less about the man's life itself, but couldn't he have at least lost it serving to expand her research? She already had ‘most will fight to defend children’ and ‘most can also die in the attempt’ these were not factors she was looking into.
Or maybe she should try…. What did the people of Sonora call people like her again…? *Kick* right~! Outlanders! Maybe she should try for one of them again, the last time went swimmingly for her research. She saw no reason this time would be any different. It was not as if they would be hard to find either, most carried up on themselves they ‘hey look at me!’ vibe of difference from the normal, boring raffle.
Her kicking stopped, and she let herself fall back to lay upon the fallen beast in front of the fallen failed hero, and she smiled.
”Don’t fret… well, you can't now anyway can you? It really is a shame you can't turn to Magicite like we can, death is so…. Wasteful for your kind, we become a benefit, I suppose you become food to nurture the ground? I see nothing else, in any case don't fret… ill complete my work, this subject… until I find my answer. I never stop until I learn what I want to,hehe… well at least it will be fun, yeah… definitely one of my ‘fellow’ Outlanders next, they really are the most prime subject”
After all, who was going to miss them when they were gone? Ah! Oh a blessing, one she really should make proper use of going forward! The normal humans were in greater supply truly, but that hardly mattered if she kept getting results like this.
She sighed, giggling as she hopped to her feet, turning on her heel as she began to make her way out. Her intention was to leave, to find another subject post haste!
But well, that just wasn't going to happen quite yet. Perhaps someone heard, perhaps a subject came right to her themselves! Perhaps another heard of the man coming out here… and that he had been gone for too long.
There were a myriad of options… one could only wonder what would cross paths in this forest now…

Had she gone about it wrong? *Kick* maybe she should have chosen someone with a more maternal side to them. *Kick* or perhaps one of the city’s enforcement? *Kick*
