That city was just another place for heroes to gather. He avoided cities like these if only due to the number of people, but in truth, they were perfect to hide in. Everyone was lost in their own world. Barely a second glance upwards from various devices. It was a place you could be surrounded and still, entirely alone. A perfect place for a kleptomaniac ninja. All those people were just easy marks for someone like her, but he wouldn't trust something as precious as Primal Materia to anyone else.
Crimson cloak billowed out, moving of it’s own accord with every clink of the metal of those grieves tapping the metal it was jointed to. Sounding more like spurs as he walked. He was a gunslinger, after all.
Most people assumed Vincent treated everyone too harshly. To be fair, had anyone endured what he had, they would hate humanity. The fact that he wasn't setting fire to their city screamed volumes. He didn't like them, but at least he tolerated them. His focus was on specific humans; They could change. Even offer hope to the jaded like himself.
He didn’t know if it was Yuffie’s need for validation from a man incapable of providing it, the fact that he was the only man could get the drop on her, or that he treated her as an equal; whatever the reason, she had been the first to get him out of his shell.
That apathetic nature was just the way he was. As he told Cloud. Yuffie and Nanaki got past the emotionless monster. Seen shades of the man who was forced to bury anything Chaos could use to take root. Allowing himself as much humanity as he was permitted. Even going so far as crafting a game of stealth they never named, but had a litany of unspoken rules for.
She was the one who picked his, admittedly, epic phone out. He should have known it was only so she could get his number, first. In the same way he should have known that, to her, it was for long distance pestering. Not like he slept anymore, but 87 minutes of individual emojiis telling a story that made no fucking sense to a man as old as him was too much. Threatening her never to text or call him again. A week later, almost like she was looking at a clock, that phone sounded again. Not once had he blocked her. He encouraged her. Just as their little play made her a better ninja - Whomever got the beat on the other first won. Normally the prize was something silly like ensuring she had some snack or treat. His prize was quiet. Which never lasted longer than a few hours.
While he may have been the only man who could actually get the drop on Yuffie, he was entering her territory, placing him at the disadvantage. “Alright, Yuffie. Game on.” His gaze darting about for that off-white hue. His loak did him no favors as he walked through the streets, turning down iside paths and dark alleys. If she was behind him, she would have seen the the ripped and torn tail of his cloak as he turned a corner. Allowing her to keep her distance while remaining in pursuit. He had been there when she created her ‘second generation’ moogle suit some seven years in this Yuffie’s future. Seen her first one.
Somehow, nobody told him how heavy the burden of knowledge weighed. How much of her future, her real future, had been robbed from her? There was a moment he felt the impact of that revelation as keenly as he could smell the sea air. It was a terrible wisdom that froze him to the ground; kept him motionless for a few seconds. More than enough for her to get the drop on him.
Everyone he had met so far that once stood beside him knew nothing of what they were missing. Entire lives; entire realities cut because something, or someone, is behind some game. There was Chaos’ righteous fury. Did they know what had been stolen!?
He grunted, buckling over at the waist with that first wave of Chaos’ bioplasm pulsing through his frame. Galian began to claw at his psyche. Like a supernatural form of DID, he knew what personality was gaining control. And like DID, he was capable of fighting to remain for even a few extra seconds, minutes; whatever he could afford himself.
Yuffie seen the same display before. The way a man was brought to his knees from pain was not something easily mistaken. Regaining his footing when his knees buckled, he composed himself for a moment before it occured again.Fingers and gauntlet-clad fingers ripping into the flesh of his skull.Staggering in slow steps towards some statue in Legend Squad. Stopping by that statue of Hremit, his covered palm slamming into it. Fingers slowly closing into a fist, leaving claws markings marring the metal of the tribute.

"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
When most people first heard about Yuffie, the ninja girl from Wutai, they might have expected somebody who moved stealthily. Who lurked in the shadows, moving silently. Someone who, if you intended to stalk her, would need to search every shadow, every nook, every cranny, keeping your wits ever about you, searching for the slightest clue, where the slightest mistake would mean your target would be lost forever into the shadows, ready to get the drop on you at a moments notice.
They would probably NOT expect a girl dressed in a bright white cloak with a moogle face on it to be laying on a bench in the middle of the public road, singing loudly about how bored she was.
But, hey, Yuffie always liked to be unexpected. "I am so, so bored, Bored right out of my brain, And if I don't, die first, Betcha I'll go insane...."
She sang as she stared up at the passing Torensten sky. Ugh, life was so dull lately. The Dragonblades had no super awesome missions for her, she wasn't allowed to tell people she was in charge of them anymore (thanks, Celes!) and even the fact that she had found Zack hadn't really led to any new adventures. There was still no materia either. Say what you wanted about having a giant meteor about to blow up your world, but it sure gave you a sense of urgency and adventure. In Zephron, life was really boring. There was no Wutai to protect, no Shinra to get revenge on, no Sephiroth to stop, and no obvious way back or adventure for her to go on.
In other words, she was so bored.
"'cause I've got nothing else to dooooooo, I'm stuck here wasti-" she went to continue singing, before stopping and suddenly sitting up right, legs out straight and hands between her thighs at a sound. She paused, listening intently for a moment.
"Heeeey, I know that jangle," she said, getting up quickly and peering through the passing crowds suspiciously. She had heard a jangling of what sounded like spurs, but never quite were. She peered around, and saw the edge of a red cloak disappearing around a corner. Her eyes narrowed. No way. It couldn't be, could it?
She burst to her feet, and quickly began to duck through the crowd of people. "Hey, move it, watch out, comin' through!" she yelled as she weaved deftly between them all, reaching the alleyway that she had seen the suspicious cloak disappear down. "Well, Yuffie, either you just saw who you thought you saw, or your chasing a creepy guy in a red cloak into an alleyway and he's probably gonna suck all your blood," she said to herself. "Ehh, I can handle that. Jus' call me Yuffie: The Vampire Slayer! Hoo hah!" She was still talking to no-one as she struck a pose and delivered a few playful throw punches to hype herself up, and she dashed into the alleyway.
Her steps picked up her pace a little when she heard the clunk of someone falling ahead, and as she turned in the alley and it opened back up into the square, she saw him staggering forward. She ran ahead towards him, and practically threw herself in front of him, head poking out in greeting with a big grin. "Hey! It is you! I thought it got like, 70% moodier here!" she beamed. Then she looked over him, considering where he fell, and how he was staggering. "Hey, you okay? You didn't eat another one of Cid's Burritos did you? 'cause, that thing made me sick for a week!" she remarked. "H-hey, I mean it! Don't keel over! I don't wanna hafta do CPR on you! You probably still got coffin mouth!" she added, half playfully, half fearfully because she did NOT want to be put in the position of being the responsible one.
That muffled singing he had heard was far from foreign to him. That little song of hers that seemed to illicit smirks or morale boosts in times when they were taking up shelter within inns. He couldn’t blame the youth, but then again, he did sleep for decades. It seemed like he had an endless stream of patience.
Discovering him was one thing, if she had been trying to sneak up on him; but beneath the flesh, muscles were tearing. Bones popped and snapped. With that much pain, he was still standing. The low growls of Galian Beast heard in every breath began to slow. Grounding him. Bringing back that little bit of serenity. Those gauntlets burrowed in the stone, his jaw tensed - If Galian beast was unleashed here, he couldn’t presume to guess how many more sins were on his hands.
Those digits belonging to the gauntlet-clat hand dug deeper into the stone where muscles were physicaly growing to the naked eyes. His eyes lifted to her own, his breathing was off. Those normally scorched orange hues were showing signs of yellow as well as being dulled over. Like an addict who just took their first perfect hit.
The moment her face poked out, there was a moment where those eyes returned to normal only to flicker once more. Illuminating the area around them in an eerie glow.
Between gritted teeth, he spoke. Eyes flickering between shades of color until finally, they went back to their eere setting sun color. His pantings became less as a few seconds passed and he heard her tallking. Those muscles threatening to rip his flesh open began to diminish from something so unnaturally huge.
For him, it felt like years in that hell. For her, it was only a few seconds. His eyes finally lifting to lock onto her face. When the pain was gone, he regained himself. That stoic, unreadable poker face.
It only took a few moments of silence before he was able to stand upright. He flicked his cloak back with one hand. She was still young. She had no inkling of what he was capable of in the right circumstanes. The man literally took on all three spirits of Sephiroth and drove them to retreat. Not that she would ever see that feat in this damned world.
He became reluctant to tell people any future they had, lest they miss what they lost. A painful reminder and he wasn’t going to tell that young Ninja how powerful a figure she became. Not just with the WRO, but Wutai.
They were used to darkness, or so he assumed. The alley was in a darkened area of the city, but rather than relocate, he leaned back against a wall. Arms folding over his chest. Through all the blood they shed, how many times they were about to be defeated - it formed a bond. Even if he seemed like he was the most apathetic towards the bond, it range false. He had taken on a role to protect them from afar.
Which brought him to his current issue: How many of his comrades were here?
“See if you don’t get moody and jaded when you’ve lived as long as I have.”
His head tilted down in contemplation. “I’ve met Aerith and I plan to find the rest of our allies. I can’t promise it’ll be easy, but it’s better than sitting around in some town. Do you care to join us?”

"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
Vincent's response was, of course, as usual to complain about his loooong life and how much suffering he had been through. Telling Yuffie she'd be as moody as him if she'd lived as long as he had. To which she just scoffed and made a face. "You spent like, most of that time napping!" she pointed out with her usual grin. "If I spent like, 40 years asleep, you bet when I woke up, I'd have even more energy than I have now! I'd be unstoppable! Fssh fssh ha!" she announced, throwing a few energetic punches to demonstrate just how full of energy she would be. Maybe she'd finally master that 'firing energy blasts out of her hands' thing she had always wanted to do.
"You met Aerith?" Yuffie asked, repeating what he had just said. "I heard she was alive! But I haven't found her yet, and I've been looking EVERYWHERE! I mean, I thought she was dead, and hearing she's still alive, that's great! Isn't that great!? You don't seem excited!" Yuffie said, putting her hands on her hips and giving him a glare. "Is it 'cause you're a vampire? You're probably used to people comin' back to life all the time, huh?" she said with a mischievous grin. She couldn't resist playfully winding up Vincent a little.
"I found Zack! I dunno if you know Zack! He's like Cloud, if you picked Cloud in one of those fighting games at the Gold Saucer but someone had already picked Cloud so like, all the colours got swapped!" Yuffie said helpfully. She had never really thought about how weird that was before now, but she had to admit, the two WERE very similar. She guessed given the story Cloud told her, that had made sense.
"Anyway, you were like, falling over earlier," Yuffie pointed out. "Don't you go dyin' on me! Do you just need another nap? I mean, you slept for like a zillion years or whatever," or was it 20? Whatever, "I thought you'd never need to sleep again!"
And then she twigged something else he had said. "Wait. 'Us'. You said 'us'. Who's 'us'!?" Yuffie asked. Maybe he had found somebody else too. Or even better, maybe Aerith was nearby!
She was the sole entity that took so much effort to get a reaction out of him. He almost felt it was something of a game. Watching her throw those punches in the air after she spoke.
“I will never rest again. Not until I atone.”
Classic Vincent. It was all he had to say on that matter. His unique traits kept his muscles from deteriorating - The Chaos gene in full effect.
“Don’t call me that. And no. Nobody grows used to seeing their friends die.”
Those final words whispered to himself. Something he rarely did. She sure as hell worked him up from the rapid whipping of his cloak around his frame.
He paused when it was pointed out that he was a monster again. Though, if it bothered him, he didn’t make mention. How many people he seen die. His attention was fixated in the far distance, staring at that monster. What it – what his hands had done. The fact that he kept it together and diidn’t suffer severe PTSD was a miracle in itself.
His voice grew solemn again.
“.. don’t know what I am anymore. Letting Aerith die when I could have saved her.. Maybe I have a second chance.”
Those final words whispered to himself. Something he rarely did. She sure as hell worked him up from the rapid whipping of his cloak around his frame.
“I have an ally that could train you as though you were back in Wutai. And I know Zack’s file. It’s good to have another SOLDIER with us."
He was avoiding her question about what she seen before letting out a low grumble from his throat.
”This stays between us: Without Protomateria restoring itself, Chaos is growing more and more powerful. It’s vying for control. I can contain it, for now." Lowering his face to conceal it beneath the mantle of his cloak, he seemed to correct himself. "I forget you don't know about protomateria, yet. It's one of the three Primal Materias that keeps the purple fiend from emerging." It was almost something he tried to gloss over.
"As for the others? I’ve already found Cloud, Aerith and yourself. Along with Shelke. Even if you don't know her, yet. You and I are the fastest. I ask your help to find the rest of them. "
He felt like he was walking a tight rope. Unsure of what to tell her. If only because the Yuffie before him was so much younger than his partner in the WRO and what they dealt with when Deepground made itself known.

"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
Yuffie let out a small groan and rolled her eyes, leaning back dramatically as she walked alongside Vincent at his most recent incredibly dramatic declaration. He couldn't rest until he 'atoned'? Ugh, seriously? "Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude, you helped save the whole world from a giant meteor! What's more atone-y than that? That's like, maximum atoneness! You've atoned! You are atoned up! You are, at, like, peak atoneyness. You don't need to do any more atoning!" Yuffie went on, holding her hand up above her head to represent just how high Vincent's 'atonement levels' were at.
Yuffie, of course, had her own atonement to do. She had stolen all of the party's materia, and although she'd never said it vocally (she just sort of pretended everything was fine), she had always felt kind of guilty about that. But now she had saved the world (well, helped), she felt like they were now even. She had atoned! So, so had Vincent, surely! Even if his atonement-yness was probably a bigger deal than stealing some materia. After all, it had turned him into a Gothic vampire wannabe. It had to be pretty serious, right?
"Y'knoooooow," Yuffie said teasingly. "If you don't wanna be called a vampire, maybe, stop dressin' like a vampire? Maybe get some khakis? Some cargo pants? Can totally see you wearing them? You seem like a khaki cargo pants kinda guy," she pointed out. "Actually, no, don't do that. Nobody should ever wear cargo pants," she said.
"HEY!" Yuffie protested, when he complained about letting Aerith die. "You weren't the only one there! If you let her die, we all did! And don't you think I haven't thought about that, buster, 'cause I totally have! I've replayed that moment in my head like a thousand times. I keep thinkin', if I'd been a bit faster, if I'd just thrown my shuriken, if I'd intercepted him somehow, maybe I coulda saved her. But the truth is, we didn't let her die! Sephiroth killed her. It's different. There's nothing we coulda done, 'cause I know, deep down, we all loved her. And I know we aren't the type of people to let someone we love die! So, I know, I couldn't have saved her. Not really. And neither could you. Or Cloud or Barrett or Tifa. None of us could have. It isn't our fault. It's Sephiroth's! And we got that big jerk back for her!" she said fiercely. In truth, she wasn't entirely sure she believed everything she said. She'd forever be haunted by her failures, but the sting was lessened, now that she knew Aerith was alive and here.
"Trainin'!? I don't need trainin'!" she exclaimed at his suggestion that she train with someone he knew, like she was back in Wutai. "Haven't you heard!? I'm Yuffie Kisaragi! The Single White Rose of Wutai! The Champaion of the Pagoda! I'm the biggest badass in all of Wutai! Hoo hah!" she threw a few more punches again to demonstrate.
Then he went on about a bit more info, and something called 'protomateria', which caused Yuffie's ears to perk up. "Protomateria?" she asked. "Is that like, some kind of super materia?" she asked, her eyes lighting up a little. "Well, I dunno about your purple fiend emerging, that sounds like a whole diiiiiifferent problem, but if you need some legendary materia to help you, you've come to the right person! They don't call me the World's Greatest Materia Hunter for no reason, ya know!?" Someone might point out that the only person who actually called Yuffie that was, well, Yuffie, but that was beside the point.
"Right! Yeah! Good plan! Let's get the band back together, and then we can go on our quest to find the super mega proto materia thingie!" she declared excitedly. "Also, I dunno this Shell-Key person, but they better not be another ninja! One ninja per team, and that role is TAKEN!" she added.
There were no polar opposites greater than that of Yuffie and Vincent. His arms were folded over his chest as they walked. Head canted down to facade the bottom of his face. Hiding his visage from most. For a man who counted time in infinities, things grew dull and boring. The nature of life, lived forever, grew stagnant.
Then, that was the reason Yuffie’s presence was welcome. Even if she didn’t know the partnership they started when he made the WRO’s fight his own. She was one of those precious few he found soothing.
Although Vincent did speak when it was important, he often went great lengths in silence. This was nothing new. No uncomfortable silence. It was just how he was. Cloud even called him out on it long ago.
As a man of action, he would do what needed to be done and found that often, words fell short. His deeds spoke louder than any voice. He has seen the horrendous deeds of ShinRa and personal motivation cast a shadow over any chance for deep conversations aside. He was always there when needed.
Dwelling on her words as they walked. The silence from the man didn’t resemble a strained tension. Just two allies side-by-side. As it was before.
His cloak fell still and ominous as she continue. One of his only tells among an otherwise unreadable face.
To have that influence over a man that was forced to keep his emotions in check screamed volumes and presented himself with how often he had put his own life in danger for her. She broke up the monotony of life.
In her youth, she didn’t understand what he had done to Gaia. Or, rather, what his father, Lucrecia, Hojo and Gaia did to him. What he had become. He lacked knowledge of what would have happened if he wasn’t stripped from the path of his destiny. he even know the battles that were still ahead of him.
Them.
Except for one shade in her past that still tormented her. And everytime, be it Shelke or Yuffie, he intentionally threw himself in the throes of that danger. He did the same for the Turks. He did the same for AVALANCHE.
Even if he didn’t show it, he hung on every last word she said. Growing still for a moment as he did so. Tilting his head ever so slightly to look at Yuffie. She was so small compared to that monolith of sin - the phantom of ShinRa.
That gruff, but unreadable voice spoke in direct response to her after she finished talking about how the clothes made the man, “I was a TURK and you’d dress me in khakis? I suppose a Tonberry to match your moggle suit is next?”
There was no question he could pull his TURK look off. And well. He just wasn’t returning to the blue suit ever again.
After a moment, he finally turned and faced her dead on as she threw her punches. Extending his gauntlet-clad arm. Rolling the left sleeve up. Allowing her to see how it was bolted through the bones of his forearm. “Unlike you, I don’t have the freedom of change.”
That gauntlet-clad grip found her wrist after his hand slipped forward, before she lowered her guard.. Those digits so lightly grazing flesh. Holding it so firmly without so much as breaking the flesh. “You’re one of the greatest ninjas I’ve seen. In your future, you’re the only one who can keep up with me..” That precision he harbored to rip off the flesh off a man was instead used to lightly lead Yuffie’s hand towards the right side of his chest.
His jaw tensed. Clenching hard. His other tell. “There is something worse to our planet than Meteor.” He moved her hand to rest on the right side of his chest. The diminishing mako of Protomateria was still there. The essence of which dated at the time of the birth of three Primal Materia. Like Holy and Black, such powerful orbs would take a long time to fully drain. “And it’s held back by Protomateria..”
He added that emphasis when the orb was touched. There was a brilliant white light that erupted from the materia. Casting the both of them in a realm of white for only a fleeting seconds. Nobody else seen what transpired thereafter. He forced her fingers against that unbeating chest. Over his heart. If he had one. For that predator’s build he had, that materia was harder than his muscle. Revealing that concealed materia by touch alone: The orb, acter all, had a much different texture than his flesh. Within that shell of white, a truth was revealed.
That Protomateria showing himself in all his chaotic glory to the ninja. Almost like it was projecting a hologram over Vincent’s body. As loath as he was to use that term, he was a final solution. Staring straight down at Yuffie. “I could have stopped him. This Cetra hold prophecy over the end of Gaia. A prophecy about me.”
When the world returned to her eyes,
“I could have stopped Sephiroth before he killed a single person. My misfortune is that I lacked the willpower to pull the trigger on the only woman that held my heart.”
Letting her collect herself, if it was needed, before he continued: “You are something I can never be. I house the end of days in this flesh, and that Materia is the only thing holding it back. I intend to fix this issue before Chaos breaks free.”
Leaving it at that unless she probed for more questions, he released her hand, giving her a taste of what he fought against.
He lowered her hand before abruptly turning left face. Hearing the smears upon Sephiroth hit home. He had resolved, now, to finish his agenda. To take back what little humanity he had. To finally rest. Claiming that it was Sephiroth’s fault resulted only in the sagest of nods. He heard her, but he didn’t have to agree with her.
“I still have six more sins before I can sleep. Once I became the host for Chaos. ShinRa used the bioplasm I forge to form an organization known as Deepground.” Though Shelke was redeemed, he had three names left on his list. “The Tsviets and their supernatural abilities directly stem from Chaos-tainted Mako. From me. Hojo used my power in the creation of a perfect clone. One on par with Sephiroth.” Even Genesis, but he didn’t say as much as Genesis was still enigmatic to him..
His stride produced the sounds of metallic collision, letting out the same sounds of spurs. He invoked the Victorian Vampire as much as he did the gunslingers. As they continued on, he finally paused. “Aerith is in Provo. If you have anything to get, now is the time to do so.” He took up perch in the shade, waiting for her if she did need to gather supplies.
As they continued walking, he stopped just to hear her talk about Shelke. “Yes. You are our only ninja. As for the Tsviets, they all possess powers derived from the Mako tainted by Chaos’ energy. She has the means to bend light around her, making her transparent. Unlike the surviving Tsviets, if I find Nero, Wiess and Hojo, I am a stride closer to forgiveness.”
Yuffie just struck a pose, her hands on her hips, as she looked at Vincent and considered his words on fashion. "Okay, firstly, you'd look SUPER CUTE in a Tonberry cloak," she pointed out, because, of course he would. They'd make a great pair! Her in her Moogle and Vincent in his Tonberry, all broody under a cute little hood with yellow eyes. It'd be great! "And secondly, I dunno! You Turks dress in boring, stuffy suits. Like BORING people. So, like, yeah, I can totally picture you boring khakis when you're not in a suit!" she added, pointing to emphasise her theory. It made sense to her! Except for Reno. Reno DEFINITELY owned a few flowery Costa De Sol shirts, that was for sure.
"Oh, please, that's just junk people say to justify being moody," Yuffie countered when he told her he didn't have the freedom of change. "So you've got a weird metal arm thingie. Who cares!? You can still change who you are inside. You're just lookin' for excuses to be a big, sulky... vampire! But you don't gotta! You can choose to be anythin' you want! Even super awesome, like me!" she beamed, throwing a few more air punches to demonstrate just how 'awesome' she was.
She paused when he took her wrist, however, and told her about her skills as a ninja in the future. "Hey! What'd ya mean, 'in the future'!? I'm totally capable of keeping up with you now! Haven't you seen my awesome moves? I bet in the future I'm even MORE awesome! Oh, oh, do I have even more materia? Hey, did I ever make that throne outta orbs like I wanted? Non-no, don't tell me, I don't wanna ruin the surprise when I find out how awesome it is!" she rambled. This 'some people were from the future' thing was going to take some getting used to.
"Worse than a giant meteor blowing up everything and everyone? How'd you get WORSE than that?" she asked. "Like, equally bad, sure, but, worse?" she questioned.
And then he showed her the 'protomateria', and the projection it created, and she watched wide eyed. He spoke about a prophecy. And destroying Gaia. And all the power of the materia and-
Frankly, Yuffie was hung up on that first point. "Wait. Wait. So you had this world ending super materia the ENTIRE time and you're only mentionin' it now!?" she asked.
Well, it seemed important.
"Stop beatin' yourself up!" she insisted. "So you coulda stopped Sephiroth when he was a baby. Any of us could, if we were there. He's a baby! I bet I could take a baby Sephiroth! I'd just drop kick him out a window! HI-YA!" she emphasised. "But if we went round beatin' up every baby we thought might grow up to be a crazy murdering psycho guy, we'd never get ANYTHING done. I mean, have you met babies? They're basically, little, tiny, bald, assholes. Unless that protomateria gave you like, mega future vision, then I don't really see what your point is. Nobody knew what Sephiroth would grow up to become!" she went on.
"So you house the 'End of Days' inside you. My Dad used to say the same thing about me! And my teachers! And my friends! And that one lady who worked in the kid's section of the Happy Turtle. Actually, people said it about me a lot. Usually AFTER I'd just broken something. The jerks," Yuffie went on for a moment. "Stop mopin' about it! We're in a brand new world, and we're doin' okay. Whatever was said 'bout you back home doesn't matter here, so stop worryin'. And I'm from your past anyway, so jus' tell me who's butt to kick, and I can kick it early if we do ever get back!" she added cheerfully.
"Hey! Wait! I know those Deepground guys!" she added when he mentioned that. "And... did you say... Nero? I've-" she hesitated, for a moment, her usual optimism and bravado disappearing as she seemed to look away. "I fought him once." she finished. "Typical Shinra goons. Thinkin' they're so good, 'cause they messed with their NDA or whatever," she meant DNA, but, well, Yuffie wasn't great at technical terms, "Instead of jus' learnin' to kick butt like I did! Shinra's always lookin' to cheat! But he didn't get me! He'll never get me!" she added, of course referring to Nero, and remembering the battle that had taken place, and who she had lost...
