Note: She will recognize any WoL as a WoL, although not her WoL. She will likely assume it's one of the reflections from other shards
HEIGHT:: 156cm / 5'11"
HAIR/EYES/SKIN:: White/silver/light brown
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: Silver eyes (blindness), cat ears and tail, irony
Y'shtola is a Miqo'te of the Seekers of the Sun, which implies she has feline ears and a tail. Her hair is white and, ever since a specific event, her eyes are silver, as she has lost her sight. Her skin is slightly tan and she has brown markings on her cheeks, as well as an Archon tattoo on her neck. After delving into black magic, she started wearing a black robe decorated with grey fur, a one-fingered glove, a ring and flat-heeled boots. She also always wears a headdress of blue feathers, which would resemble human earrings.
Shtola is taciturn and calm, as she usually prefers to listen quietly before speaking - and to only speak if needed. When she does speak, though, she is usually a voice of reason, and provides relevant and sharp insight. She can be quite patient, but if her patience is tested too much by irrelevant or confrontational comments, she can become quite audacious and sarcastic - and she may voice out subtle insults.
She cares deeply for her master, Matoya, and holds her in the highest regard, even if they often "bark" at each other. She is also very quick to lose trust in people who hold secrets, as she is naturally inclined to be more than wary around them. She has a dry sense of humour and often strikes back when people try to flirt with her.
She is cultured, as she has started studying magic at the age of seven, and has always loved to read. For these reasons, her speech is usually refined, although grounded enough not to make her sound like a Shakespearian play.

III. HISTORY
Shtola was born in the Dravanian Hinterlands, in the colony named Sharlayan. At seven, she was already well-versed in magic, enough for Matoya to accept her - after a little push - to take her as a student. The Garlean Empire, though, made most of the people from the colony leave the Hinterlands and sail back to Old Sharlayan when she was only a teenager.
She was formerly a member of the Circle of Knowing, together with Louisoix Leveilleur (who was the leader), Yda, Papalymo, Thancred, Urianger, Moenbryda and Rammbroes: the group was an association between scholars, and they called themselves Archons. After Louisoix's death, this group merged together with the one named "Path of the Twelve" to form the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
She met and helped the Warrior of Light of her world in Limsa Lominsa, while she was investigating Lahabrea's plans, then aided them again when the Ascian led the Sahagins to attack, and retaliated when they stopped him. Soon after, Minfilia Warde, leader of the Scions, was kidnapped from the Waking Sands, their headquarters, and Y'shtola went to the rescue at Castrum Centri, although she was forced to retreat. The scions then moved to Revenant's Toll soon after, only to find out that the Amalj'aa stole a crystal to help the Sahagin summon their Primal, Leviathan, which she helped defeat.
In Ishgard, there was a celebration after the defence of the city from the Dravanian Horde: on that occasion, though, the sultana Nanamo Ul Namo was attacked, and the Scions were blamed for the attempted assassination because Ilberd, one of their members, betrayed them. Y'shtola and Thancred remained behind to ensure that the others would manage to escape, and the miqo'te used forbidden magic to teleport her comrade and herself through the Lifestream... but only Thancred escaped it.
The Warrior of Light, together with Kan-E-Senna and the elementals, took Shtola out of the Lifestream. She remained in a comatose state for a while, but after her awakening, she found out the Scions needed help and brought them to her teacher, Master Matoya, in the Hinterlands. The woman pointed them to the Great Gubal Library, where they found the knowledge they needed to build the magical device that would be used to pierce through an Allagan barrier in Azys Lla. Only Matoya, at this moment, found out her secret: after her trip in the Lifestreem, the miqo'te had lost her eyesight.
One Primal after the other, the Warrior of Light protected Eorzea while Y'shtola helped the Scions trace Thancred, and after encountering the Warriors of Darkness, the scions reunited with the Warrior of Light and back to their headquarters. Y'shtola built a device to keep the Primal Shinryu, which Ilberd had summoned shortly after the attempt to take Nanamo's Life, in check.
The Scions soon joined the ala Mhigan Resistance against the Garlean Empire, but this led to Zenos Galvus attacking Rhalgr's Reach himself, severely wounding Y'shtola and destroying the place. For this reason, she could not take part in Doma and Ala Mhigo's liberation. Soon after her recovery, she and the other Scions attended a meeting with Doma and the Eorzean Alliance, but during the meeting, all of the scions heard a mysterious voice and Thancred lost consciousness. In time, all of the Scions fell victim to the same "disease", losing consciousness and awakening in another world.
In this new world, known as the First, Y'shtola took it upon herself to lead a group known as the "Night's Blessed", whose goal was to counter the extreme imbalance of Light the world was in. When they met the Warrior of Light, they were in the company of Thancred, Emet-Selch, Urianger and a reincarnation of Minfilia. The warrior's goal was to find the Lightwardens and defeat them to restore the balance between Light and Dark, so she helped by sending them to the ruins of the ronkan empire.
After the fall of the remaining Lightwardens, Y'shtola helped the Warrior confront Emet-Selch, then worked together with the Crystal Exarch to find a way back to the Source, their homeworld. Soon after, the Warrior brought dreadful news: Zenos, who had been confronted by him at the Royal Menagerie of Ala Mhigo, was still alive, and the Empire was working on new, special weapons. Shtola assisted the Warrior in uncovering more stories about the Ancients, as Elidibus had also made his appearance by taking the body of Ardbert, the former Warrior of Darkness, for himself.
After defeating Elidibus, the Scions went back to their homeworld and began to work on understanding and stopping the Final Days, which had terminated the world at the time of the Ancients. In this period, the rogue ascian Fandaniel appeared and started creating Telophoroi Towers, working together with Zenos on spreading chaos. Fandaniel though betrayed the Garlean and the Warrior confronted Zodiark, merged with the Ascian, on the moon. After this, Shtola followed them and found out that the moon was actually an escape device where the people of the world would have found safety from the Final Days, which would start at Zodiark's demise.
The Scions soon started to look for a way to help the people of Eorzea not succumb to despair and turn into monsters called blasphemies, and they did what they could to ensure everyone's safety at Radz-at-Han. They then travelled, after many hardships, to meet with Hydaelyn, the Mothercrystal and goddess of their world, who they discovered was in truth an Ancient in the form of a Primal. She told them about the truth behind the Final Days, a creature named Meteion, and gave the Warrior what was left of her power. The group then went to Ultima Thule, the edge of the universe, aboard the Ragnarok.
In Ultima Thule, each of the scions sacrifices themselves one after the other to allow the Warrior to reach Meteion, and even Zenos helped him fight. After this, the Warrior summoned the Scions back to life and, as he sent them home, the Warrior fought with Zenos in a battle to the death. Zenos was defeated and the Warrior awakened only when close to their homeworld: after their arrival, they held a celebration and finally disbanded the Scions.
