II. PERSONA
He is, first and foremost, almost perennially bored. He is selfish, insensitive and pretty arrogant - and on top of that, to him live has close to no value, both because he was raised as the heir to the Garlean Empire, and because he only values good fighters. Whenever he fights, he considers his enemies as "sport" and usually hunts them down like prey - not many can say to fight well enough to challenge him, and this bores him immensely. He cannot stand the weak(er than him), cowards and those who do not participate in battle. He used to fight for the thrill of the kill, but even that has soon started to bore him. Killing without a good fight is nothing more than a massacre.
He shows contempt for allies and enemies alike, not really caring about either and even killing the cowards in his own ranks without as much as batting an eye. Even so, he still has an eye for someone's strengths and weaknesses - especially those he can exploit for his own means. He used Yotsuyu's hatred to subdue her people, Aulus' research to find a way for garleans to use magic, Fordola's desires to have her be the test subeject for Aulus' project, and even Asahi's devotion to him. He uses everyone around him, but also considers everyone expendable and interchangeable with someone else. For this same reason, he can execute in cold blood anyone in his own ranks, but also choose to spare them should he still find a use for them even after failure.
He has a strong connection with the Warrior of Light, whom he considers both his enemy and his first friend. This is because in his life he has never had anyone his age to play and make friends with, and only servants who would do every- and anything he asked, his father's iron fist, and his very strict tutors and teachers. The Warrior of Light has awakened in Zenos something he has longed for for a lifetime: kinship. He sees the Warrior as his equal, both in fighting prowess, power and mind. Ever since he met them, they have been his sole purpose in life: their fight would be just like the ones he had always read about in the books he used to enjoy reading as a child. It is for the Warrior that Zenos kills his own father: Varis was but an obstacle on his path, and one who had tried to take "the Hunt" from him. His only desire is to have a final showdown, a battle to the death with his "friend", even should the world come to an end.
Phisically speaking, he has a youthful face and a tall, strong body that he has trained ever since he was a child. He has long blonde hair and piercing, cold, blue eyes. He used to alwaye wear a heavy, huge armor, but has recently changed for a lighter asset, consisting in his royal garments, a cape, gauntlets, sabatons, gloves and boots. He used to nurture a passion for eastern swords, but has switched to a scythe as his favoured weapon ever since he has struck a deal with his avatar.
In his enshrouded form, his figure merges with that of his voidsent, so his hair darkens and have red streaks, his body is shrouded in red and black, his left arm becomes clawed, and his eyes glow red.
III. HISTORY
Zenos never was a normal child. He was the imperial heir, and thus was he expected to learn close to anything, from history and literature to war strategies to the art of combat. He has always had strict tutors and teachers. His mother died when he was still a child, and he seldom ever met his father, who sent him servants to use and command as he pleased instead. For this reason, to him the servants and tutors were worth close to nothing, and more similar to magitek equipment than to people. He had no children of his age to play with, and even the servants kept their distance due to fear of him. He had always been brilliant and outstanding, especially in combat, but for his father it was never enough.
At the age of 14, he was taught swordsmanship by an eastern swordsmaster, whose true aim was to kill Varis, the Emperor. Zenos found an enemy he could not beat for the first time, and studied him until he understood his technique, called the Unyielding Blade. Once understood, he replicated it: he forced his own body to release aether with the use of a crystal, and as the teacher attempted to kill him, Zenos murdered him instead. Ever since, he has never again found a worthy opponent.
Growing up, he became the Legatus of the XIIth imperial legion and conquered the city of Doma, becoming his regent soon after. He had no interest in ruling, though, so he soon after found use for a local woman, Yotsuyu: after Gaius' defeat at Praetorium, Zenos was named viceroy of Ala Mhigo, and he named Yotsuyu as Doma's viceroy to make her crush her people's will in his stead. He then heard from Gaius' reports of the Echo, a very special ability that the Warrior of Light possessed, and thus did he recruit Aulus to research it. There were two main test subjects for his experiments: Grynewaht, who ended in failure and madness, and Fordola, who was instead mostly a success and helped perfect the process. Zenos then underwent the experiment himself and gained a power called Resonance, similar to the Echo, that let him use magic at will and possess other people's bodies.
After his fight with the Warrior of Light in Ala Mhigo, he was thought to be dead, but he instead found out of this ability: possessing the body of a soldier, he fought his way back to his own, which was possessed by the Ascian Elidibus. He took his own body back, along with information on the Warrior of Light, and killed his father Varis, who had tried to kill the Warrior. He had no interest in the throne, though, so when the civil war started and the potential heirs were killing each other, he simply watched in boredom. He was eventually approached and convinced by Fandaniel to take it himself - it was the perfect spot to pursue both of their plans: the power of Zodiark for Zenos, and the Final Days for Fandaniel. Zenos and Fandaniel had the imperial palace rebuilt into a tower, which hid the means of teleportation to the moon, where Zodiark resided.
Zenos went to greath lenghts to make the Warrior want to fight him, even kidnapping him and stealing his body to murder his friends, but he was stopped by Fandaniel and the arrival of the WoL. Soon after, Fandaniel betrayed Zenos: they both traveled to the moon, but the Ascian took Zodiark for himself, and was defeated by the WoL. Zenos realized that his "friend" would not concentrate on him until the final days were stopped, and thus chose to wait, keeping himself busy outside of Garlemald, because he was stripped of his title and dubbed a traitor, "viator" by his people.
After the death of Fandaniel and Zodiark, the Final Days started and the Warrior focused on preventing the end of the world. Zenos took the time to think of wat he truly wanted from his "friend", so he eventually chose to help them. He traveled to Old Sharlayan and offered to help in the form of Shinryu in exchange for the Mothercrystal's aether. He stood to his word, helping the WoL defeat the Endsinger, and after that battle he asked for one, final battle. With nothing to hold the Warrior back, Zenos finally found acceptance, and the two fought to the death.

IV. AUTHOR
PLAYER ALIAS:: Paradox
OTHER CHARACTERS:: none yet
ROLE-PLAYING EXPERIENCE:: More or less since 2016, but only in italian
HOW YOU FOUND US:: Looking for FF-themed forums on internet
NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION:: No clue?
ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE:: (Zenos meets Kefka)
As he had been doing for days now, Zenos was quietly sitting on his throne, his head resting on his open hand and his elbow on the armrest. His eyes, initially closed, took a moment to reach the figure of Fandaniel. He would have killed him then and there, yet at the same time he was almost grateful to him for waking him. Almost.
Again. He had dreamt the same dream again. Always the same sceme. The very same he had seen in his dreams ever since he was a child.
He took only a moment to understand what the ascian was talking about: he only needed to look at the floor, where the corpses of those soldiers - whose miserable existence he had terminated himself with a few slashes - still laid. He did not comment on his words about "someone not fulfilling their duty". It was plain and simple, no words were required, they both knew how the prince was and acted. Probably, later on, someone would come and clean the mess. Not that he cared at all: if needed, he would have stepped on them without as much as batting an eye. He had done that before, and they were only useless cowards. That, and they were dead, which meant they were also not his problem anymore.
As the ascian told him about a guest, he sat in a slightly more composed manner, slowly raising himself to have his back straight. Soon, the guest "appeared" at the end of the room - or better, he walked in. Zenos' eyebrows furrowed slightly. A clown. It was another clown. Because dealing with one wasn't more than enough already, obviously.
He listened to the clown and stared at him. The creature did not bow, nor show any form of respect. Bold, or stupid. He pondered for a long moment whether he should just slay him or let him talk, but after a few more words he was already more prone to the latter. His guest was without any doubt a madman, but if he had any kind of problem with them he would not cooperate and basically live with one. That man spoke of murder, and perhaps without even noticing he complimented the prince. Zenos even appreciated that the man did not do it on purpose, but simply to chat. It was not to flatter him, nor out of fear.
After this dramatic entrance, Zenos only needed more information, that the Ascian would provide. The blonde looked at him, and he knew there would be no need for words once again. Fandaniel knew how to read his eyes.
