II. PERSONA
Generously described by most as 'spirited', a more accurate description would be energetic, enthusiastic, fiery and full of ideas. Mid is a constant front of positive energy, cracking jokes, teasing, refusing to take anything seriously, and generally acting like a whirlwind of chaos sweeping through where ever she is.
However, she is a positive whirlwind. She generally sweeps in a thousand and one ideas for improving something, jokes, teases and prods until she gets what she wants, and then sees it through. She's generally used to being listened to and treated with, if not respect, at least people wanting to help her out; a side effect of having grown up around adults as the daughter of their leader, who all saw her as something of a group child. Everybody in the Hideaway helped raise Mid in one way or another. Which means everyone in the Hideaway is slightly to blame for her boundless energy...
Beneath the positivity and playfulness, however, Mid hides a lot of turmoil. She very much plays a game of deflection. Mid doesn't like to express her real feelings, feeling that it'd be showing weakness, or worse, 'girlyness', and she doesn't want that. Her father was always so strong, so confident, and so certain, and the last thing she wants to do is show her own doubt and uncertainness. So she will usually refuse to admit to anything being wrong, often even to herself, and hide it behind quips and high energy. When confronted by something she doesn't want to deal with, her usual tactic is to simply run away, and try to avoid the issue. Particularly when it involves pain and memories of what she has lost. She doesn't handle raw emotion well, not quite knowing how to process it.
However, when she does finally break through that, she is a sensitive soul, able to actually understand feelings in a mature manner and often remain playful but genuine as she handles them. It's just a lot of work to get her to that part.
She detests all types of war. She understands that there are some things worth fighting for, but she won't fight herself, and hates the ideas of kingdoms and politics and fights deciding the fate of the common people. This also translates to a general hatred of pomp and circumstance; she'll never use a formal title or behave in a formal manner, and god forbid if you try it on her. She will literally laugh in your face.

III. HISTORY
Born in a small village in the Holy Empire of Sanbreque, Midadol was the daughter of a blacksmith and his wife, a waitress at the local tavern. When she was only six months old, the village was caught up in a battle between Sanbreque's troops and the forces of the Kingdom of Waloed. The battle was devastating, leading to the death of her mother. Her father, heartbroken, joined the Sanbreque army to lead a counter attack, but with nobody to care for his child, he had to take the baby with him to the army encampment. However, before the counter attack could be launched, the Waload forces launched a surprise attack, spear headed by their Lord Commander, Cidolfus Telamon.
Cid found the child while mopping up the encampment, and scarcely able to believe a child was found among the fallen soldiers, took her in, unable to see her put to death or left to die. Not even knowing the child's real name, he named her Midadol, and gave her his family name, raising her as his own.
Mid doesn't remember an awful lot of her early life, growing up as the Lord Commander's son in Waload. Cid tried hard to keep her away from the politics and the world of courtly intrigue that even he was reluctant to be involved with, and instead, she was mostly raised just by her father, learning from him both about technology, engineering, and his general attitude of being fairly flippant, sarcastic, and often uncouth. Being raised by Cid alone, she was almost a quiescently tomboy, with no interest in 'girly' things, but instead fascinated in building and construction, something that she had an obvious gift for.
However, unlike Cid, she had no interest in fighting. War was, to her, a spectre that loomed over her past. She loved Cid, and had no doubt that he was her father, but she also knew her past. She knew that she could have had a very different life, and that her parents had been stolen by war. All she wanted to see was an end to war. Some believe it was Mid's horror at the endless fighting and war that Valisthea was engulfed by that prompted Cid to walk away from Waload, although of course he had many motivations. Although they rarely talked of their true feelings, Mid would feel nothing but pride for Cid for choosing to walk the path of the Outlaw, fighting to free Bearers and forge a new destiny for men and women everywhere. Although when he had first made that decision, she had been too young to fully understand.
Mid was barely four years old when Cid left to form the Hideaway, and she spent most of her life growing up there. She was self-taught by Cid in technology, invention and creativity, for which she showed amazing talent. Cid tried to raise his daughter to not rely on magic, and it was a lesson she took to heart, always trying to achieve what she could without resorting to crystals or magic, believing, like her father, that one day magic would need to be ripped from the realm to stop the Blight that threatened Valisthea.
At the age of eleven, having learned all she could from Cid, and clearly a talented prodigy, she was sent off to the University of Kanver, in the Free Cities, to study further. While there, she studied technology of the Fallen, as well as the latest theories, and continued to develop her engineering skills. She wrote to Cid regularly, and the two kept in contact by letter, even if she couldn't see him face to face as often as she wanted.
When she was thirteen, she got the news that her father had died, finally achieving his goal of taking down one of the mother crystals. In the chaos that followed, Mid struggled to deal with her emotions. Shutting herself away for long periods of time to work, and presenting only her chipper, upbeat front, almost to the point of mania, she went through a very difficult time of adjustment. She became acquainted with Clive Rosfield, who she knew Cid had been very fond of, and although she remained flippant and upbeat about it, she was deeply proud when he decided to carry on her father's legacy.
She would often return to the Hideaway, mostly as a whirlwind of energy and ideas to help them build their new home, after the previous one was destroyed. She invented water filters to help extract safe drinking water in blighted lands, and several other innovations to help the outlaws in their new home. When she returned, her coming was usually marked by a sense of both dread and fondness from the others in the Hideaway; she was truly a child of the Outlaws, who had been raised by them, and they all knew her, but she was also a whirlwind of passion and ideas. And a LOT of energy.
Five years after the death of her father, and during Clive Rosfield's campaign to destroy the remaining mother crystals, she returned to the Hideaway, this time with the intention of making her stay permanent. Although at first she didn't tell anybody, she had left the University of Kanver for good, after they had shown close interest in her work and offered her a complete scholarship in return for her forging weapons of war. Unable to accept this, she instead simply walked away, although she kept it a secret. Mid never did like to talk about her own feelings.
She spent time at the Hideaway constructing a workshop, and then beginning work on developing a Mythril Engine for a sailing ship, that she called the Enterprise. Originally planned by herself and her father as a way to escape if Valisthea was fully lost to the Blight, she now saw it as a transport to take Clive and his crew wherever they needed to go, planning to bequeath it to him as Captain. However, her flighty, deflective nature remained, and she would use any excuse to get out of having to visit her father's grave. And when those ran out, she would simply disappear back to Kanver where the hull of the Enterprise was being constructed.
As Valisthea continued to fall into chaos, with Waloed using Akashic and Beastmen warriors, Clive took the battle to Ash, where Waloed was based, and Mid piloted the Enterprise there, along the way using it to combat Waloed's Black Frigate. Although she wasn't keen on battle, she also didn't shy away when needed to rescue Jill Warrick, and to use the ship when needed. However, she never took up arms herself; Mid had no intention of fighting herself.
After the battle and the appearance of Origin, a huge floating crystal in the air, a final battle plan was formed. During it, Mid had initially joked that there was no way the Enterprise could fly, but telling that joke had made her start to consider the possibility, and with Clive's help, she began to construct an airship prototype. However, as the project came along, and the ideas began to take form, Mid realised that airships could change the entire landscape of warfare, and although she trusted Clive, she worried about what would happen once the airship became common technology.
She vowed to build whatever she could to help Clive, but then, as soon as the fight was done, send her Mythril Engines to the bottom of the ocean, and leave the airship designs hidden behind a riddle, that only the smartest engineers could solve, so that one day, only the most deserving would find them.
When Clive left to battle Ultima, she finally broke down, showing her emotions and admiration for Clive, and told him her pride at him taking her father's name. She even hugged the three heroes leaving, finally dropping her defences. Albeit only slightly.
And then Origin was destroyed, and now Mid finds herself in a new world. She's not quite sure what happened; she knew that Ultima's plan was to replace their world with a new one, but without human kind. Had Clive somehow changed this fate? Had Clive given them a whole new world, free of the Blight? Or ... had something else happened? Something different? She had no idea. But she knew one thing.
If anybody could find out what was going on, it was her!
