The woman who called herself Sarah of Cornelia, wherever that was in this accursed world, tried to approach Kimahri again, presuming he had family and friends he wanted to see again. Her comment would have normally provoked a wrathful response from the Ronso, but Kimahri was too fatigued, too wounded, to correct her. The only other person he wished to see was nowhere to be found, and his family rested as bones and dust atop the slopes of Mount Gagazet. What did he have to return to?

Yet, she persisted in helping him, even if there was nothing to gain from doing so. The woman tries to enlist the help of her younger, significantly more obnoxious counterpart and notes that her camp is nearby, suggesting they remove him away from the Headstone Forest and off to Provo, which Kimahri had to assume was some kind of settlement nearby.

Averse to help as he was, Kimahri couldn't leave this wretched forest on his own if he wanted to. Whatever was impairing his ability to heal would likely try to interfere with other efforts, and yet, the Ronso could see no other options for himself, apart from death. And something compelled him to live, else he would not be here to experience this moment.

Very slowly, Kimahri rolled himself into a seated position, his back and shoulders hunched over from the pain that seared through every muscle, and merely sat there in silence. Neither of them had to count on defending themselves, for the time being.
