Though the surrounding area where she appeared at seemed to be familiar, the air was different? 'Where..am I? This..it can't be Winhill...', she thought to herself, spotting a farm a little off in the distance. She felt a cool breeze that sent a chill running down her spine. She bit her lower lip, trying her best to stay calm after these strange circumstances. 'Maybe if I keep walking, I'll find someone that can help me. This definitely isn't the same air from Balamb', the instructor thought as she began making tracks towards the farm. 'I hope people are friendly around here. The last thing I need is trouble in a strange land..'
The blonde female continued to look around the lush, green, vast surroundings, seeing that there was some sort of town not too far from the farm she was heading towards but it was still a bit distant. It would take a little time to walk there, but what choice did she have, considering she was lost. 'All right..', she cleared her throat, 'the first thing I need to do is find someone who can tell me where I'm at. I'm sure that question wouldn't sound..too out of the ordinary. And possibly finding a job would be another smart move. If I'm to be here for a while before I can find out how to return back to Balamb, I'd need to earn a living. Let's hope there's a school I can apply to teach at or something..'
Back where the instructor was from, she taught cadets to become SeeD mercenaries. Not knowing where this place was, her other skills could be useful. She had taught basic mathematics, grammar, social studies and the like, so she wouldn't be totally useless. Quistis was also a hard worker, hence her earning her title as SeeD at the age of fifteen.
-----------
The blonde approached the farm, closing the gap. She looked around just to see if anyone was available to speak to. Judging from the locked gate that surrounded the small house, she figured they were out working. 'Hmm, maybe it's best not to bother them if their out in the field or tending to their flock..', she brought her index fingertip to her lower lip, tapping it lightly as she looked at the closed gate.
She backed away from the gate, looking around to see if there were any other options. Pushing her glasses up from the bridge of her nose as she turned to face the opposite direction, she spotted what looked like to be an entrance into some sort of town. 'Maybe I can find some answers over there..', she thought; turning her heels to head in that specific direction. 'It looks like it's gonna take a few to get there but..I have some time to kill. Another problem I face is..how to get home..'
With the sun beginning to set, she picked up her pace. She was several yards away, so it shouldn't have taken too long..
-----------
As she approached, she crossed the bridge that lead to the town. It looked quite different than anything she had seen. It wasn't quite as high tech like Esthar but it seemed quaint like Winhill. 'Maybe..I've traveled into the future? I have crossed over with my companions to destroy that sorceress several years ago..', the thought popped in her head as she gave several nods to the people who passed her. Some have quirked an eyebrow at her appearance but that didn't stop the blonde female from finding someone who could help her.
"Heh heh. So it is ten Gils. You agree right? For one of them?"
On one corner of the bridge, a little hidden from traffic, were two people. Well, one and a half people. One was a shady looking woman with sharp face and alert eyes, wearing a cloak with opened hood which seemed to have "thief!" written all over it. In front of her was a humanoid-looking... thing, half her height, with only his yellow eyes visible underneath his yellow cone hat. He carried an Oaken staff.
The humanoid blinked.
"Yes."
"Good. So, here are ten Gils, and you hand over that stone in your hand."
The humanoid extended his hand in there was a small chunk of ruby. Red, glistening, raw ruby. It may be small but the precious gem would easily fetch a couple hundreds of Gils, at least.
So either the humanoid was being conned, extremely stupid, or both. Perhaps both.
With a swipe of the hand, the ruby was gone inside the thief's cloak. On the humanoid hand was ten gils. The humanoid blinked, staring at the coins on his hand.
"Heh heh. Pleasure doing business with you.... Wait, are you holding something in your other hand? Against your staff?"
The humanoid tilted her head in a funny way. Almost like... he did not actually understand the question.
"Yes."
"Show it to me."
Obediently, the humanoid shifted her staff to his other hand. On his previous hand was an even bigger ruby.
One could almost see the thief's eyes blazing green.
"So," she said, "Another ten gils for that stone, yes?"
The humanoid blinked. Now. He clearly did not understand the question.
"Yes."
@quistis Help this clueless child.... Oh and feel free to RP the "thief" as you wish!
The blonde instructor was just minding her business, giving a nod and a smile to those who walked past her, regardless of the quirked brows and the whispers. 'Sheesh, do I really look that out of the ordinary?', she thought to herself as she looked down at her salmon/pink attire. As she continued her path to find someone to help her, she did realize that she was definitely out of place. Not just by her looks and way of attire but just..her look in general didn't fit in to her surroundings. Quistis put those feelings aside and continued on to find someone who didn't look at her strange so she can approach them to ask for help.
As she ventured further into this new place, she came across two people that looked as though they were doing some exchange. One person was quite shorter than the other and looked very much more innocent than the woman trying to bargain with him. Quistis kept her distance but was within earshot so she could hear them speak. 'Wait, is that woman trying to take advantage of that..shorter person? That cannot be right', she told herself though she maintained her distance. She couldn't very well rush into action unless deemed necessary..but from the looks of it, she might need to step in soon. That person of average height didn't have a trustworthy look upon her face and the shorter person seemed so naive.
The instructor walked several steps closer as the cloaked woman was about to reach out for the larger ruby the shorter person held. As the woman requested for ten gil for such an exquisite gem, the blonde picked her pace up and took a hold of the cloaked woman's wrist.
“All right, that's enough you! I see that you've been trying to trick this person into giving you these precious gems that are well worth more than you're asking for!”, the instructor said in a stern, authoritative voice that she'd use when doing a lecture.
“Get your hand off me you~”, the thief said, struggling to pull her wrist back. Quistis' eyes began to glow a yellow tinge, indicating she was ready to use her special move; laser eye, but kept her gaze on the female. “Give this person back their gems and you~”, the blonde looked downward to the shorter person, “give this woman her ten gil back...”, her gaze returned to the thief as her eyes grew a brighter yellow, indicating she was ready to use her skill.
“All right! All right~”, the cloaked woman scoffed, reaching into her cloak with her freehand to pull the smaller gem out. Giving Quistis an irritable look, she hands the gem back to the shorter person.

With Claire seemingly settled into life in Zephon, the young Farron had been residing in a small house or manse. With Serah away in Torrensten, alongside her other half, it was up to Claire and Mog to hold things down here in Provo. Admittedly, Claire had planned to head to the Cabin, just to make sure it was safe. It wasn't far from the farmlands on the outskirts of town and even if she didn't like the scents out there, it was where she emerged in Zephon. What she found as she approached the bridge was a situation instead.
Garbed in a black shirt with the text "Offworlder Club", with some star shaped patterns above. It was complimented with an off-white skirt that went past her knees and a loose off-white cloak tied around her neck. Her pink hair contrasted her sea blue eyes as she approached from the Provo side of the bridge. Gentle steps from her black sandals were audible, so as to not scare any hostile parties. By the time of Claire's approach, she only heard the accusation by Quistis. Looking her over, the way she was dressed was similar to her homeworld and certainly contrasted to Provo denizens regular attire.
"Pardon me, I hate to interrupt a rescue but... You're not from around here, are you, Miss?" Claire spoke softly, looking to Quistis with some mild surprise, as well as excitement in her eyes. When she looked to the Thief, they certainly seemed dressed in the Provo style. Strangely, the shorter humanoid, was also in a similar style but there was something exotic to it. Certainly it seemed like a mage's attire but it was best she not assume much more than that. Regardless, it seemed like the 'thief' had no where to go...well, besides maybe hopping over the sides of the bridge perhaps?
"You don't seem bothered by all this, are you...confused, perhaps?" Claire would crouch down slightly to be roughly eye level of the black mage. She kept her knees together while propping up her chin with her left knuckles. Ordinarily, a person that was being robbed or at the very least, scammed; would be displaying some uneasiness. Further, with a stranger coming forth to defend on their behalf that would bring forth more of a reaction. On the other hand, it was possible to just be overwhelmed, if not surprised at how dramatically things shifted. All for the sake of some rubies.
Hopefully, things didn't escalate further than this. However, given the nature of life, Claire Farron was prepared. These days, Mog and Claire were inseparable, mostly on account of Serah's orders. Thus, if she needed him, she'd have him transform into his weapon forms in a pinch. It helped to have practice too! Although, the key to being a trickster smart heroine, was to not give a hint to trump card.

Contrary to the confused look of the humanoid when being asked question, he seemed to immediately sprang to life when being told by Quistis what to do. Without resistance he handed over the ten gils in his hand, and promptly received the stone back in return. Now he had two stones on his left hand, while his right hand held onto his staff. He looked down at the two stones he held with no expression.
By now, it was probably clear that the humanoid had no idea what to do with the stones.
Another human approached, and this one crouched down to be on his eye level. She said something, and the humanoid turned his head to the side, almost cutely. He blinked a few times, as if processing what the human said.
'Confused? Perhaps? Are?'
And he said what he usually said when being asked question. "Yes." But then he added in his childlike voice. "Blu is told to change stones to gils. Blu obeys."
Then, unexpectedly, he extended his hand to the first human, who had ordered her to return the stones. Maybe she deserves the stone instead? "Blu returns this to you." And he innocently opened the palm of his hand, showing the two glistening rubies that might have eased the life of any stranger new to this world.
@quistis Young Claire I am sorry it is so short! This character does not lend itself well to extended writings....
Quistis watched as the pair exchanged; the cloaked woman who returned the ruby to the shorter person and he handed the gil back to the cloaked female. Once the exchange was made, the blonde released the woman's wrist. With a scowl as she backed away, the cloaked woman mumbled something incoherent before taking her leave; turning her back to walk towards the opposite direction. The instructor's eyes faded back to their normal sapphire hues.
“My goodness~”, she turned her attention towards the person who joined. Giving a slight bow to the light pink haired female that joined, she said apologetically, “Please forgive me for not answering you right away. I just couldn't stand seeing this person~”, she looked down at the shorter person, giving a sympathetic smile, “being taken advantage of. Is that normal around here?”
The blonde smiled when asked if she wasn't from around the area. “Oh, I suppose~”, she looked down at her attire;salmon/pink colored zipped vest that had a gold-rimmed fold-over collar that is zipped just below the rib cage, exposing her midriff, brown arm warmers and brown gloves, a long salmon/pink skirt with a silver waistband, black leggings, a brown belt that drapes over her thighs and black shoes. “It's obvious that I look out of place...”, she said with a nervous chuckle. “As a matter of fact, I was just out with my students for a SeeD field training exercise and I was~”, she paused, looking down at the shorter person who seemed to be handing her his gems.
Quistis shook her head, kneeling down to be at somewhat eye level. Placing a gentle hand on the shorter person's shoulder, she gave a reassuring smile. “Those are for you. I'm sure if you need help selling those, I'll bet this nice lady can point you in the right direction or help you find people interested in buying those...”, the instructor used her freehand to push the rubies back gently so they'd touch his chest. “Just try to stay out of trouble...”, she chuckled before standing.
Turning her attention towards the light pink haired female, she gave a nod. “Well, I'll make this short and simple. I was ambushed by a creature when taking my students out. But it appears that..I've ended elsewhere other than my home. And..being stuck here, I suppose I need to make the most of it and find some work...”
'Maybe finding a time compression portal would be smart too, but you wouldn't want these people to think you're off your rocker, Trepe..', she thought to herself, sighing softly.
"Oh~", Quistis shook her head with a smile. "Where are my manners? I'm Quistis Trepe. It's a pleasure to meet you both", she said, first smiling down at the shorter person, then directed her gaze to the light pink haired female.

Blu seemed rather sweet, innocent, and perhaps a bit simple? No, just lacking a certain amount of free will. Claire studied Blu for a bit, watching silently as the young woman approached and further clarified matters. A very pleasant lady and surprisingly, she had something in common with her sister. So, Claire cleared her throat as she looked to both of them. "Blu, Quistis, I want to welcome you to Zephon, since Mr. Caius isn't here to do so. My name is Claire Farron and like you, Quistis; I was also taken from my world rather abruptly. I was in my Mother's hospital room, her health is...failing her and it felt like that discussion was going to be our last..." Claire's eyes slowly downcast for a moment, before she shakes her head and puts on a brave smile.
"Don't worry about a thing, us Offworlders have to stick together. As it just so happens, my sister is a teacher also, there's a Magic University in a major city not too far from here. Sounds like a perfect place for you to cover your needs and learn more about Zephon. Who knows, I might even be one of your students cause I'm going there too~" she'd explain, opting to address the simple needs immediately, before addressing the theoretical.
"...We might be stuck here, admittedly but if it gives you some comfort... We've worked out that however we arrive in this world, it pulls a version of us, a temporal instance; if you will. So, in your world, you're probably still with your students right now. At least, that's the working theory..." shifting to Blu, she tried to contemplate the story behind the mage. Going on a limb, she held up her left hand, all fingers presented.
"Blu, how many fingers am I holding up?" hopefully, Blu wouldn't say 'yes', instead of five but curiosity compelled her to test Blu's responsiveness. Claire was already wondering if Blu even needed money at all? What if Blu was just following a perceived order to exchange the rubies for gill? If so, she felt out of her depth but what would Caius do? "Mr. Caius would go above and beyond to help someone out, especially if they had Blu's circumstances." Claire thought to herself before looking the humanoid mage over once more. Offering a reassuring smile, the young Farron resolved to do what her hero in this world would.

The rubies were exchanged, gills returned, and the cloaked woman hurriedly went on her own way. Blu's head (or something with eyes there) turned towards the woman and he innocently waved at her as she went. He was told before to wave at people who left him after a conversation, and he obeyed. Even if currently, he had to keep the rubies in his palm so he was more like waving a closed fist instead.
His hand then was extended towards the first lady, but his hand was pushed back to him. Blinking his two yellow orbs, he simply watched as his hand was pushed towards his chest, offering no resistance. And he nodded quickly at her orders, almost comically too eager to do so.
"Blu understands. Blu follows 'the nice lady'," He stepped closer towards Claire as he said so. "Blu tries to stay out of trouble." He turned his head around, apparently scanning the area. "Blu does not see 'trouble' anywhere."
Trouble seemed to be a place name. Like Alexandria. He was told once to stay out of 'this castle' and he obeyed. Blu was a good Black Mage.
He simply shifted his head from one to another as the two humans were talking, giving each an eerily precise time of attention. He quickly registered what to called them. He, at least, understood introductions! So, the first human was to be called Quistis. The second human was to be called Claire Farron. Combined with the information he had before, she was to be called Nice Lady Claire Farron. He nodded at the end of their introduction, to show that he understood. "Blu knows Quistis now. Blu knows Nice Lady Claire Farron now."
And finally, he was addressed! Nice Lady Claire Farron was holding five fingers, but he could not register what she was saying. So, Blu tilted his head.
"Yes."
And then he proceeded to extend his hand holding the rubies towards her. "Blu gives this to Nice Lady Claire Farron to... to 'find people interested in buying these'", He said, repeating Quistis orders' verbatim. At least he got the demonstratives determiner right!
The blonde breathed a sigh of relief to hear that she wasn't the only person not of this world for the female before her had stated she hadn't been from this place either..wherever this place was. “I'm so glad to know I'm not going crazy and I'm not the only one~”, she paused upon hearing of a teaching position. She was a blue mage and it did seem like her magic and skills still worked within this world. “Your sister is a teacher?”, another sigh of relief. “If I could get a position, that would be wonderful..”, a genuine smile upon her lips though that smile soon faded once she heard about Claire's situation on how she arrived in this world. “I'm sorry to hear that about your mother, Miss Farron..”, she placed a hand on the female's shoulder gently as she offered her sincere words. “I do hope you can get back to her and who knows, maybe she could better by now...it is a possibility...”
It did comfort the instructor to know that there were other outsiders among this strange land. As Claire suggested, it would benefit that they should stick together, especially in such times. The friendly female must have been here for a while now due to her knowledge, though the whole theory about the temporal substance didn't quite sink in. 'This could be a time compression side effect..', she thought as she brought her attention to Blu.
“Oh I~”, Quistis paused to kneel down so she could be at his level. “It wasn't an order. It was more of a suggestion. From what Miss Farron had been explaining, I figured she would have been the better choice to help you find a merchant to sell these rubies to..”, she gave a sympathetic smile to the humanoid, shaking her head slowly. 'Gee Trepe, way to make friends. You sound as if you're lecturing or scolding him..', she thought.

Well, Blu turned out to say 'yes', indicating that this was a canned response when an inquiry wasn't quite understood. In other words, Blu was like an A.I that she'd seen back home. Claire could feel a bead of sweat run down her right temple, as she gazed over to Ms. Trepe. "Although there is a small possibility, being disconnected from the moment; I can accept it for what it is." Claire admitted before being mildly surprised when Blu opened his hand to reveal the rubies. He proceeded to give her them, so that she could help him sell them. That bead of sweat got bigger in that moment but she did put the idea out there.
She was relieved that Quistis tried to clear the air, though she too was having trouble communicating. "By chance, Quistis, did your world have computers, artificial intelligence, that kind of thing? If so, you'll have to talk to Blu in the same way. Otherwise it'll be difficult for him to learn. Just think of this like a test of your teaching skills~" Claire was teasing a bit but it was in good spirit. Hopefully it'd get her in the right frame of mind.
Claire had briefly recollected her first moments here and how out of sorts she was. Fortunately, she had Mog, even if he was a bit of a slacker; she was growing to love him. It reminded her immediately of a potential concern, so she'd ask the two of them post haste! "By chance, do either of you have weapons in case you need to defend yourself? When I arrived, I only had the clothes on my back but I didn't really own a weapon before either." being in a new place without means of protection and self defense, was equally harrowing. It was why she was so grateful that Mr. Caius found her.
