[attr="class","ayab-text"] A colored card to seek out her date and a card filled with festival credits! Aerith is visibly excited as she takes in all of the various attractions to see. It was so much more exciting than Wall Market! It was almost like the Gold Saucer! This was the first time she had been on a date in quite awhile! Of course, she had offered Cloud a date with her but she knew she had practically dragged him with her. Hopefully this time would be less forced and more fun! Not that she hadn't had fun with Cloud! The memory of it was kept close to her heart but for once there were less pressing matters to darken it. [break][break]
The young woman had dressed herself a little too much for it, but she could not help herself! The red dress had been so over-the-top and pretty that it reminded her of the dress she had worn for her audition with Don Corneo. A form-fitting and extravagant thing that only matched what she had done with her hair. For once, she had allowed herself to wear it mostly loose with a red ribbon replacing her pink one to hold it up. Her White Materia was still tucked safely beneath even as the rest of her hair was curled and threaded with ribbons and flowers. Beneath the bright lights and the sound of laughter and joy, Aerith felt like she was almost back home in Midgar. The Slums were by no means this fancy, but there had been such life and joy either way. [break][break]
Her green eyes were alight with fascination as she tried to take in every single thing she could. Would her date like the dress she chose? Would it be fun? Would they mind if she dragged them off wherever she liked? Aerith could not help but giggle just a little giddily at the thought. Perhaps even a romantic dinner later on~? Of course, she did not see this as going further than just one fun night, but she was quite open to seeing where this event would lead her. For now, Aerith stayed where she was so her date would be able to find her with the matching card she had received.
[attr="class","jroverlap"]Sorry! I'll freak out if I don't talk.
[attr="class","jrbody"]Jessie was absolutely, positively, out-of-her-mind thrilled for the festival. She had signed up the second she heard about the blind date. And when the matchmaker asked her sexuality, she realized she’d always just assumed she was heterosexual. But, hey. Who really knew until they tried? So she had no idea if she’d end up paired with a man or a woman tonight, but either option was fine with her. She was just excited for the fun event. Everything looked amazing already. It was full of activity and laughter and she got momentarily distracted from finding her date by the fire dancers. [break][break] Jessie had pulled out all the stops in her outfit for the night. It helped that she had a vast array of dresses from her plays. She’d selected a velvety deep purple one for the evening. It was slinky and beautiful, fitting her perfectly. It had been tailed especially for her, after all. Her hair was down in loose waves tonight and she’d accessorized with sparkly earrings and a matching necklace. She felt gorgeous tonight. She loved any excuse to get so dressed up.[break][break] Now she held her color-coded card and stared around the crowded square. Where, oh where, was her date?? She didn’t know what to look for except the card! And she kept getting distracted by all the bustle around her. But then off in the distance, she caught a glimpse! It matched her card! [break][break] She rushed as fast as her heels would allow, brown hair streaming behind her. The person holding the card slowly came into clear view. A woman! Well, this would be an interesting night. Jessie felt a little blush rise to her cheeks at the thought. Would she learn something about herself tonight? The woman in red was beautiful. But there was something… some long lost memory that tugged at Jessie, like she knew her. Back before. But how could that be? [break][break] She tried to shake the feeling and simply focused on the night. They would have fun together, hopefully. The other woman certainly looked nice and was watching all the displays in the Square with the same type of wonder Jessie was feeling. As she approached, she held out her card with a grin. She stood in front of her date and waved. And suddenly, she felt overwhelmingly nervous. She’d never felt this nervous for a date before! Was it because she was with another woman this time? Maybe she just didn’t know how to act. She was definitely overanalyzing now. [break][break] “Hey! I guess we’re partnered together for the night. I’m Jessie,” she introduced herself, still vaguely trying to figure out how she knew the other woman. “That dress is beautiful on you,” she added with a smile and a blush. “There’s so much to do here, I have no idea how to decide!”

[attr="class","ayab-text"] And thus her question was answered with the arrival with a lovely brunette in an equally beautiful dress! For a moment, Aerith was taken aback by the odd sense of familiar she felt in regards to her date. No, she did not believe they had ever met in person before, but there was something about her that rang bells within her mind. Granted, she knew some of her memories were somewhat fuzzy but she remembered all of the important details! Realizing that she had been staring at the woman intently, Aerith quickly shook off the odd feeling and smiled brilliantly at her date for the evening. There would be plenty of time to analyze this familiarity later on! [break][break]
At least, that had been her intention until she learned her date's name. Jessie? Aerith suddenly remembered the incident when the plate had been about to fall and she had attempted to nurse Wedge after his fall. Barret had mentioned to her the other members of AVALANCHE he had lost. A part of her wished to ask right then and there, but she remembered what Cloud had told her and her own experience. Memories were different here and there was a chance Jessie had been pulled here before all of that tragedy had happened. If it came up naturally in conversation, then she would see where it lead. But she didn't wish to press someone she had not met personally. Besides, this was meant to be a fun night! If she ever did run into Barret, then she would be happy to let him know one of his friends was here as well! [break][break]
"I'm Aerith! It's nice to meet you," Aerith introduced with a bright smile. Giggling to herself, she casually linked her arm through the other woman's with a somewhat sly smile in place. No idea how to decide? "Well, then we go look until we find something we both like! I don't think we'll run out of anything to do before this night is over!" There are a plethora of performers and good to peruse and purchase for later, but Aerith thinks she would enjoy getting lost in watching some of the performers for a short while. The Gold Saucer was the closest experience to anything like this for her and she longed to capture those memories of excitement again!
[attr="class","jroverlap"]Sorry! I'll freak out if I don't talk.
[attr="class","jrbody"]Her date looked at her with a similar scrutiny when Jessie first approached. Had they met before? Well, the other girl didn’t say anything so neither did Jessie. Her name, Aerith, still seemed achingly familiar but she didn’t dwell on it. Who cared, the past was the past! And this was a day of fun and merriment, it didn’t really matter right now. So she just grinned back, thrilled to see her date shared a similar enthusiasm and sense of fun. She’d gotten so used to being the upbeat one around everyone she knew, it was exciting to finally find someone else with a similar outlook and personality! [break][break] They linked arms together and looked around the square as Jessie proclaimed she didn’t know where to start. “No! I think there’s plenty to keep us busy,” she agreed with a grin. “And we have 500 gil to spend, that’s certainly enough to keep us entertained!” She gestured over towards the fire dancers she’d gotten distracted by when she first came in. [break][break] “Maybe we start over there? Those fire dancers were so amazing I had to stop and watch for a few minutes already. I’ve no idea how they manage what they do, you know?” She assumed Aerith would be down for the experience so she started off boldly towards the performers. Jessie led the other woman through the crowds of people until they stood in the semi-circle of onlookers watching the dancers. [break][break] She was mesmerized by the fire shifting and dancing across the darkened sky as the performers threw their batons and torches. She stood with Aerith, arms still linked and laughed appreciatively at the spectacle before them. When had she last experienced something this frivolously fun? “Maybe we should get a drink soon?” she suggested eventually. “We can always walk around with them.”

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Oh, there was more than enough to keep them both busy! Aerith would have been happy to spend the entire night just watching the performers and marveling how they could do such things. Perhaps she should have been less impressed when she had seem similar things before. Especially from Tifa! No doubt her friend could give any of these performers a run for their money with the gynastic movesets she had already mastered. "Five hundred gil just for us to spend! I'm enjoying this event more and more," she said with a grin of her own. It would be nice to splurge a little instead of always trying to save every gil she earned back in Sonora. [break][break]
Fire dancers? Her eyes lit up again as Jessie soon lead them both forward. Aerith was quite content to be lead forward this time since she tended to be the one often leading her friends forward. The only one who had ever been happy to go along with her antics had been Yuffie! Even Tifa had needed a little bit of coaxing before agreeing with her. "A lot of practice and maybe some fire materia?" Her lips were curled into a knowing grin as she let that little slip on purpose. Aerith did want Jessie to know that they were from the same world and to see if that gave her some insight into how her memories were currently. [break][break]
Her green eyes reflected the firelight as she watched the performers with an awed expression. All of it was just so incredible to witness! They made it look so easy which was quite enviable. Her attention shifted back to Jessie as she tilted her head with another grin, "What kind did you have in mind? I'd love to see if they have anything like a Cosmo Canyon here." Oh, how she really did miss Gaia and all of the different towns their world had to offer. Visiting Bugenhagen again would have been quite the treat, too! Perhaps one day.
[attr="class","jroverlap"]Sorry! I'll freak out if I don't talk.
[attr="class","jrbody"]Jessie certainly agreed with Aerith. She wasn’t extremely frugal and made a decent living, but having five hundred gil just to blow on the event was something else! Not only had she gotten the opportunity to meet someone new, they’d also be able to do so much with that kind of money. Whoever came up with this scheme needed a raise and promotion. [break][break]
“Ooh, fire materia would make sense,” Jessie agreed instantly as they stood together and watched the fire dancers. It took a moment and a glance at Aerith’s knowing grin to fully realize the strangeness of what she said. She turned suddenly to face the other woman and grabbed both her hands. Her eyes were wide. “I knew there was something about you! You’re from Gaia too aren’t you?” she asked excitedly. Had she simply recognized another traveler from her homeworld? Surely there weren’t other lands with materia… [break][break]
Then Aerith agreed to her drink and mentioned the Cosmo Canyon and Jessie’s jaw dropped open. It was a stupid little detail, but it seemed that those were the ones that stuck with her the most. Cosmo Canyons and cats, what more did she possibly need to remember? The name of the bar suddenly forced its way back into her memories, floating back to the forefront as if she’d never lost it to begin with. “Oh my god! Did you get that at Seventh Heaven?” Her excitement about this date couldn’t get higher. She was nearly vibrating out of her own skin. [break][break]
“This is so exciting,” she chattered as they walked together towards one of the drink stands. “I, umm, don’t have most of my memories still even though I’ve been here for over a year. I know bits and pieces but the big things aren’t there. But it’s amazing to meet someone else from home!” She grinned and ordered a simple ale as her drink. Her free drink. “So, tell me about yourself, Aerith! I want to learn more about you.” She sipped her drink, feeling warm and happy. This was going to be a good night.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Aerith was a little surprised when she found both of her hands soon being grasped excitedly after her remark. Laughter bubbled against her lips as she squeezed Jessie's hands in reassurance. It was always wonderful to cross paths with someone else from Gaia, and it only had her more hopeful she would find the rest of her friends soon! "Something about me? I think I may just swoon!" she teased as she batted her eyes at the other woman. "But, yes, I am!" Aerith was also happy to see that Jessie did hold some memories of her life back on Gaia, but she was hesitant to drag up anything unpleasant for her. Besides, she could very well have been pulled from before that entire tragedy of the plate being dropped. [break][break]
And then the mention of a Cosmo Canyon really sent Jessie off! Aerith could not contain herself at the visible jaw drop as she fell into a fit of giggles. Oh, that would be one of the highlights of her evening! The Seventh Heaven? Eventually she let her laughter taper off as she hummed thoughtfully to herself for a moment. Aerith had never been to the Seventh Heaven before the plate had fallen and she did not wish to outright lie to Jessie! "Tifa made it for me before! She's here, too, you know! I'm sure she would be so happy to see another friendly face from Gaia!" Her own excitement was palpable as she grinned at Jessie brightly. [break][break]
Soon enough she did get an answer to her internal questions! The fact that Jessie did not have all of her memories was not a surprise to her. No, she had a feeling that was the case, and perhaps it was a good thing. Aerith had no wish to remind the other woman of unpleasant things just as she disliked knowing that she had died herself. "I wouldn't worry about it too much, Jessie. That seems to be a common thing here for people brought here. Your memories will come back when they're meant to." As for herself, Aerith ordered a fruity drink since she could not really enjoy the taste of regular ale. [break][break]
"Well, I grew up in the Sector Five Slums of Midgar, so seeing all these lights and performers is great! Sure, most of that stuff was in Sector Six, but it almost feels like being back home. Here's to hoping that we don't have a Don Corneo running this event." Her lips were quirked into an amused smile as her eyes glittered. Oh, she would be quite keen to let the Don know she was still happy to rip his balls off for him if he did get summoned here.
[attr="class","jroverlap"]Sorry! I'll freak out if I don't talk.
[attr="class","jrbody"]Aerith teased her just a bit flirtatiously with a bat of her long eyelashes and Jessie felt a giggle rise in her. Her cheeks flushed with excitement and she felt overjoyed. Here she was, worlds away from her old home on a blind date. What was the likelihood of encountering someone else from Midgar? It was just… it was amazing. And the fact that Aerith was such a joy to be around was just icing on the cake! Jessie was looking forward to this night very much. [break][break]
And the surprises kept on coming! Along with the memory of the bar the Seventh Heaven came a memory of a dark-haired woman with red eyes. The name of her old friend came to her moments before Aerith uttered the name herself. Right! Tifa! Of course she remembered Tifa, how could she have forgotten?! The details of her past were every-so-slowly being filled in. There were other shadowy figures, others around Tifa and Seventh Heaven that she couldn’t quite remember still. But they’d come to her eventually. [break][break]
Jessie was dumbstruck again when Aerith informed her that Tifa was here in Zephon. “Ohmygosh,” she said in a rush of excitement, “I would love that sometime!” Ah, but that was for later! Later she could go with Aerith to meet back up with Tifa! Tonight was for Aerith and Jessie alone, a night of merriment and fun and maybe something more? [break][break]
She smiled gently when Aerith reassured her that lost memories were common and nothing to worry about. “Yeah,” she agreed and sipped her drink. “They’re starting to come back more and more recently. It seems like everyday I’m remembering more little details.” She shrugged, “I assume the time will come soon when it all comes flooding back.” And would she be ready when it did? [break][break]
She listened as the other woman talked about growing up in Sector Five. She referenced Sector Six, specifically the Wall Market. These were things Jessie had always retained. She remembered Midgar and its structure just fine as well as the events of her childhood. It was the later memories that her brain had forgotten and muddied. Jessie shuddered at Aerith’s mention of Don Corneo. She’d never met the man but she’d certainly heard of the creep. “Ugh, I definitely hope not!” [break][break]
“I grew up in Sector Seven,” she informed her partner. “So I guess we were on either side of Six and the Wall Market! It does remind me of it now that you mention it.” She looked around again, eyes still sparkling with wonder. Then her belly made a horribly loud sound and she laughed in response. “I think it’s time to use some of our free gil on all these street food vendors!” she proclaimed with a gesture to the stalls and counters set up around the square serving various delicious looking easy-to-eat foods. She didn’t even know where to begin!

[attr="class","ayab-shape"]
[attr="class","ayab-text"] The sheer excitement emanating from Jessie really was contagious! Aerith could feel herself growing more excited and energetic the longer she spent time with the other woman. It really did feel like Zephon was a small world with all of the familiar faces she was crossing paths with. Who else would she meet with again? Those were thoughts for the future when she did not have such a lovely date to spend her time with! "We'll visit her together soon, I promise," she reassured with a grin. Oh, she really hoped Tifa would be happy to see another familiar face! The young woman would do nearly anything just to see the younger woman smile happily. [break][break]
"They'll come back when they're meant to. In the meantime, just enjoy yourself and the new memories you can make." That was the best advice she could give to anyone here. Aerith would rather create new memories for herself than wallow within the past. Yes, there were people she missed immensely and it did make her sad some days. A lot of the time she even found it difficult to smile and be cheerful as most were used to seeing from her, but she wanted to do her best to be the person her friends remembered. [break][break]
Her lips curled into an amused grin at Jessie's shudder. Oh, how would the other woman react to learning that Aerith had been one of the potential brides for that horrible man? She nearly shivered when she recalled that particular evening. She had done her best to doll herself up to what she believed the Don would like. Daint and girly! Well, the Don had proven all of them wrong when he had gone right for Cloud! Of course, he had seemed to be enamored with Tifa, but there was no competing with Cloud when he wore such a flattering dress! [break][break]
"All the good parts of Sector Six, anyway! There are so many lights and no doubt the food is better here, too. There's only one way to find out~!" Aerith was more than happy to lead Jessie forward to one of the nearby stalls. What should they try first? Her eyes zeroed in on a mess of funnel cake covered with powdered sugar. It practically guaranteed a mouth full of cavities by the end of the night, which meant it was just perfect!
[attr="class","jroverlap"]Sorry! I'll freak out if I don't talk.
[attr="class","jrbody"]“In the meantime, just enjoy yourself and the new memories you can make.” The advice from the other woman was honestly perfect. And Jessie whole-heartedly agreed. She was well on her way to creating a whole life of new memories here in Zephon, maybe better memories. She was certain there were some bad things that happened back in Midgar, something that she was still partially unwilling to remember. And maybe it would come back eventually. But right now, well. Aerith was right. It wasn’t good to dwell on the past or what might have been. For whatever strange cosmic reason, she was here in Zephon now and what really mattered was the present. And she wanted to thoroughly enjoy it! [break][break]
She grinned in response. “You’re pretty wise, you know? I agree. The memories I’m making here are important too. And I’ve had a great life here so far, so I really can’t complain. It’s just annoying sometimes to not be able to recall everything.” She shrugged and let go of the worry for now. Tonight was for merriment and fun. [break][break]
The two women stared at the selection of delicious foods. How were they meant to decide? Jessie wanted to eat all of it! Or at least try it! She’d just run an extra mile tomorrow to make up for it, that’s how it worked right? Oh well. Aerith was staring at a gooey powdery funnel cake. It was huge. If they each ate one of those Jessie wasn’t sure how much else she’d be able to sample. “Let’s split it!” she declared, pointing at the confection. “Dessert first, of course. The best way to do things.” [break][break]
Soon Jessie was holding the messy pastry, giggling as powdered sugar coated her hands and drifted onto her dress. Oh well! She held it out for Aerith to pull some of the fried dough off before cramming a large bite into her own mouth. She sighed and closed her eyes, savoring the delicious flavor. It brought her back in her mind to carnivals and events of her youth. “This is unreasonably good,” she commented before eating another piece. Jessie was convinced her mouth was covered in powdered sugar at this point! [break][break]
As the two women stood together, savoring the pastry, Jessie struck up conversation again. “So Aerith! I know you’re from Midgar obviously, but what have you been up to here? Have you been living here in Torensten?”
