[attr="class","ayab-text"] Her lips curled into a smile as she felt herself become a little flustered from the compliment. It was not the first time someone had called her wise, but Aerith really did not think of herself as such. Perhaps it was just an innate thing from her heritage as a Cetra, or she had just experienced a lot during her relatively short life. Either could apply but she favored the latter more than anything. "Live in the present and worry about the past when you need to! That's what I think, anyway. There's just too much to enjoy in the here and now than to wallow in things that can't be changed then and there." [break][break]
The young woman was more than happy to split the funnel cake with her date. The powder quickly spread all over her fingers as she broke off a piece and stuffed it into her mouth without a care in the world. Her cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk as she chewed on the delicious treat thoroughly before sighing. A soft moan escaped her before she could help herself, which had her flushing just a little in embarrassment. "Well, we're adults now! We can have dessert for dinner without feeling guilty or being grounded for it!" Green eyes glittered with mischief and a hint of joy as she promptly shoved another piece into her mouth. [break][break]
Sugary powder soon covered her hands as Aerith resisted the urge to brush her fingers over her dress to rid herself of it. The fabric of her dress was so nice and she wished to avoid making too much of a mess. Of course, it could not be helped as some of the sugar descended onto the red satin, anyway. This could be dry cleaned later, right? If Jessie's mouth was covered with powder, then Aerith knew her own would be stained with it as well. Turning towards the vendor, she quickly grabbed some napkins from the stall before handing some over for Jessie to use at her convenience. [break][break]
"Oh, no, I've been living in Sonora with some of my friends. I was lucky to come across a few when I arrived here! Otherwise, I've been trying to start a business growing and selling flowers with a little success! I managed to grow them in Midgar, so I know I can do it here, too. Even without a lifestream on this world. What about you? How have you settled here?" The words felt like a rush as they left her mouth in quick succession as she grinned at Jessie.
The other woman seemed a bit flustered by Jessie’s assertion that she was wise. Why, she wasn’t sure. It seemed obvious! Aerith had an extremely good way of looking at things, a wise and reasonable optimism that Jessie could only hope to emulate. “Here’s to the present!” she agreed jubilantly with a toast of glasses. “And onward to the future.” [break][break]
Aerith clearly agreed with Jessie about dessert first, rules of childhood be damned. The funnel cake they split didn’t last long between the two of them and by the end they both had a decent coating of powdered sugar on their hands and mouths and a slight dusting on both of their dresses. Jessie couldn’t help but grin at the other woman’s moan of pleasure at the taste of the treat. “Right? It’s criminally good.” Maybe they’d need another before the night was over. [break][break]
Napkins were clearly a good idea. Jessie happily accepted some from Aerith and tried to wipe off the remnants of sugar from her face. Hopefully she succeeded. If not, her date would surely understand! She drifted next to Aerith and listened intently as she explained where she was living and what she was doing in Zephon. [break][break]
“Oh, that’s great! I haven’t really met anyone I recognize. Not yet, at least. I’ll definitely have to go visit Tifa one of these days.” She grinned, picturing the beautiful woman beside her in the midst of a sprawling, colorful flower garden. The image fit perfectly. “Oh, I’ve been here in Torensten mostly,” Jessie started when questioned. “I’ve been here about a year and it’s been pretty good. I fell in with an acting troupe pretty fast and eventually managed to land some leading roles! So I’ve had great success with that. Haven’t made too many lasting connections yet though. And I’m hoping to travel here soon, see more of this new world.” [break][break]
“I guess it’s felt like something’s missing? Maybe life has been too peaceful here and I was used to the chaos and stress of Midgar,” she positited with a rye laugh. Was she unable to appreciate the peace of Zephon after the bits of life she remembered back home came back to her? “Who knows. But I’m going on an extended leave from my work so I can travel! I’ll definitely have to hit up Sonora in that time.” [break][break]
As she was talking, her stomach growled and she gave Aerith a sheepish grin. “Wanna check out more of the food stalls now? Then catch more of the shows?” Her gaze drifted away to a stall with sizzling meat and vegetables nearby that smelled exotic and delicious.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Tifa really would be so happy to see a familiar face again. Amusedly, she wondered how Cloud would react to Jessie's presence. Should she mention the blonde swordsman to her? Aerith was very sorely tempted to do so, but that was a conversation that could wait for another time. Her friend could only handle so many energetic women in one sitting after all. And Aerith knew she could be a handful at times for her friend to tag along with, and she was always happy when he went along with her silly ideas and whims for the most part. Now she had someone that would be more than happy to do so! Not that Cloud was unhappy to tag along with her, but he often sighed and stared at the sky as if asking what he had done to deserve such a fate. [break][break]
"You're an actress? Oh, that's so exciting! I remember when I went to the Gold Saucer, I was able to participate in one of the plays. I don't remember the name of it, but I was the damsel and one of my friends played the knight. It was one of those prize roles where a lucky couple got picked to play in it," she revealed with an amused grin. The memory was one that filled her with fond nostalgia and homesickness. Surely Zephon had something that resembled the Gold Saucer beyond just this event for the evening. It was definitely worth looking into when she felt the urge to travel a bit. "Sometimes when you find yourself in a time of peace, you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I know the feeling. I spent a lot of this past year before coming here traveling across Gaia. There was always something to do or worry about, so it's really important to savor the quiet moments." [break][break]
Life was made up of moments: good and bad. Each moment was something to experience and learn from after all! Aerith wanted to enjoy the good moments in between the bad ones. "Traveling is a great way to clear your mind! You get to do all sorts of new things, meet new people, and make great memories. When you visit Sonora, you definitely have to let me know. I'll show you all the nice spots and this really nice cafe I go to. They have the best hot chocolate and cheesecake." She soon found herself bursting into a fit of giggles as Jessie's stomach began to rumble loudly. As wonderful as funnel cakes were, they were hardly filling or nutritious. [break][break]
Aerith nodded her head eager before looping her arm through Jessie's and promptly dragging the other woman with her to the nearby stall. The one Jessie had been eying quite eagerly! The scent of the meats and vegetables had her own mouth nearly watering. Hopefully, she would not make a mess of the dress she had bought before the evening was over. Between the both of them, Aerith was beginning to think they were going to eat the event out of all of their food!
Aerith mentioned the Gold Saucer and Jessie practically burst out of her own skin in excitement. “Oh my gosh, that’s amazing! When I was a teenager I got to do some plays there!” she gushed, remembering just how happy she had been to finally land that starring role. ”There aren’t a lot of things I remember and miss from Gaia, but the Gold Saucer is definitely one of them. It was just so vibrant and alive!” Come to think of it, the atmosphere here kind of reminded her of it, just a bit![break][break]
“Yes!” Jessie agreed excitedly as Aerith offered to show her around Sonora. “I would absolutely love to have my very own tour guide to show me around the city. You’ll have to tell me where I can find you up there then I will happily go with you to all the best cafes in town.” Jessie gave the other woman a warm smile. “I’m really happy I met you Aerith. I can’t wait to see you again,” she added sincerely. Maybe she wasn’t entirely getting romance vibes from the night but Jessie was completely certain she’d made a strong friendship here. [break][break]
The two women looped their arms together again. Jessie felt the silky feel of Aerith’s dress against her arm and giggled as they pranced together towards the delicious food stalls. Jessie happily ordered a small sampler tray, with an assortment of spicy sauced meats and vegetables. She didn’t know what the sauce was, but the instant she took a bite she knew she’d made a great decision. “I gotta say, I think the food here is far superior to anything I remember from Gaia. I don’t know if it’s due to different spices and stuff or if people just know how to cook better here, but I am in love.” She continued eating, managing to not make a mess on her beautiful velvety dress. [break][break]
As they ate, Jessie peered around the square. What to do next? Then she saw the band setting up on the constructed stage in the center, a few opening lines of music filtering through the air. Couples were starting to gather for dancing beneath the stars. Jessie grinned at Aerith and pointed. “What do you say to some after-dinner dancing?”

[attr="class","ayab-text"] There was just so much jubilance and glee emanating from Jessie that Aerith was quite sure her cheeks would be hurting from constantly smiling by the end of this evening. Not that she did not smile often! But Aerith could not recall a recent time she had experienced this much fun with someone she had just met. "And all of the games there were to play! I wasn't able to stay longer and try them out, but I really wanted to try chocobo racing. It was so exciting from the one race I was able to watch!" Of course, her freedom had been riding on Cloud winning that race to free them from Coral Prison. But semantics, right? Right! Perhaps she would be able to find something like those races here! Start her own chocobo farm and raise them well? [break][break]
Aerith burst into a fit of giggles at the silly thought. Was it silly, though? She believed she could be happy with such a lifestyle for herself. Away from the city and its lights and somewhere small and cozy with a garden for herself and a stable full of chocobos! "Then it's a promise for a second date!" she replied with a playful wink. It did not seem this evening would turn into an everlasting love story for herself, but she was quite happy to meet Jessie and make a new friend. Dates like these did not often lead into that sort of fairytale ending, anyway! It was still a nice thought to think about, though. [break][break]
"Why not a bit of both? Maybe your experiences here are better than Gaia, so the food is just that much better! And, of course, you are in good company." Her lips curled into a faux-sauve grin before she felt herself begin to laugh once more. The food here was pretty good, though! But nothing would quite compare to the home-cooked meals she had grown up with as a child. And, before that, it had only been tasteless, nutrition-based meals Shinra had provided to her. Cold, clinical and impersonal as with everything else in her early childhood. Simple meals like these really were one of the best to indulge in. [break][break]
Eventually, she did finish her treat without managing to make a mess out of herself! Aerith tilted her head to the side as Jessie pointed out a nearby band beginning to set themselves up. It did not take her too long to figure out what her date had in mind. Grinning, she turned on her heel to bow gallantly to Jessie. "May I ask for the honor of this dance, fair maiden?" Holding her hand out, she grabbed Jessie's hand within her own before leading her towards the other dancing couples.
As Aerith spoke about the Gold Saucer, Jessie started to feel a little wistful for her old life in a way she never usually did! There were certainly some upsides to Gaia after all. Aerith burst into a delightful fit of giggles then. Jessie didn’t quite understand why, but it didn’t matter. Her laughter and joy was infectious and she soon found herself giggling along with a wide grin on her face. “Absolutely!” Jessie agreed when Aerith asked about a second date with a playful wink. “You better not ghost me now,” she added with her own wink.
“You’re right, the company certainly does improve the food experience,” she said, holding back more mirthful giggles at Aerith’s attempt at a suave grin. She poked her playfully in the side before both women collapsed into laughter again. Her throat was probably going to hurt tomorrow after all of this! But oh well, it was certainly worth it.
“Why, of course, my dashing date,” Jessie stretched out her hand gracefully in front of her as Aerith bowed and asked for a dance. Her lips twitched as she tried to maintain her faux serious expression. The ruse was immediately up when Aerith snatched her hand and gave her another sunny grin. Jessie couldn’t help but follow suit, smiling foolishly and letting the other woman lead her towards the dancing couples.
They found a place amidst the crush of bodies where they weren’t too close to anyone else and could properly dance. The stars twinkled merrily overhead and the band’s music filled the night air. It was a moderately paced ballroom dance, one that certainly had proper moves to go with it. Jessie, of course, didn’t know them. So she gave Aerith a bold grin before raising her hand to her mouth and giving it a quick kiss. Then, with all the confidence in the world, she put one hand on the other woman’s waist and one on her shoulder and started an approximation of what she thought ballroom dancing was. Who cared that they were moving in a completely different way than the other couples around them! As long as they were having fun and enjoying themselves that was all that mattered.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Oh, how Aerith wished Tifa was here to enjoy this event with the both of them! It would have been so fun to coax her friend out of initial hesitation and simply let loose for one evening. But, for now, Aerith would simply allow herself to live within this moment. She did not believe anything more than friendship would form between herself and Jessie. The woman before her was quite attractive and certainly someone she could allow herself to fall towards, but she had the sense Jessie had done this more on a whim than for true attraction towards a woman. There was no harm in trying something new, right? There was something more to be seen to a person than the mere identification of their gender. No, Aerith found herself truly attracted to what made a person who they were beneath outward appearances. She wished to know the true self of a person and not much else beyond that. [break][break]
Perhaps she would not be winning any awards for being a dashing rogue, but Aerith was more than content to hear Jessie laugh at her antics. Her emerald eyes glittered with her mirth as they both headed onto the dance floor. Tonight was a night to forget all of her stresses and woes and to simply be herself. She did not often have the opportunity to let go of her inhibitions after all! Even with Cloud and Tifa, she still found herself keeping up a positive front to reassure her friends. The two of them needed her strength and she had no wish to falter when the both of them needed her to remain steadfast and familiar. The lights and her present company are a wonderful distraction as she simply allowed Jessie to lift her hand to press a kiss against the back of it. [break][break]
Her cheeks blossomed a vivid pink at the forward gesture before she fell into another fit of giggles. A hand upon her shoulder and another upon her waist. Aerith felt her lips quirk into an impish smile as she grasped the hand upon her shoulder and twined their fingers together. "I believe this is the proper way! Or as much as I can remember," she teased. No, she had never had anyone dance with her before like this, but she had seen enough silly television shows to know the proper posture. A handsome, tall man to sweep away the beautiful, demure heroine into a dance of dreams and love. This was certainly not that, though! No, she was more than happy to lead the dance in a somewhat graceless, amusing dance of delights.
