all our splendour BATHED BLACK IN SILENCE, OUR SURRENDER A SOMBRE REVERIE If the fact that he was lounging in a cafe, reading a newspaper was any indication, Hades had adjusted to Sonora well enough. He didn't get the raw scorn that most outsiders did. Oh, he stood out, with his third eye that clearly marked him as an outsider. But, that situation was resolved by simply possessing a lot of money to buy the people's favor. No matter the world, it seemed that greed could be a prevailing motive. Money spoke, as it always did, and as long as he was able to present it, well, even for a xenophobic city like Sonora, the myriad doors were opened to him. He wasn't pleased with such a realization that it was all the same, but well, in a new world, one was expected to play by the rules, yes? Even with those new rules were still the old. Yet despite this, many unique characters found their way to this city that may as well have never slept, for all its lighting. Perhaps it allowed others to forget that this place was constantly freezing by simply giving them something to do. Ah, take a look at one of those characters now. A young man, perhaps still a child, with outrageous blue hair and visible veins. Just from watching him, the boy seemed to be oozing with teenage angst, just about right for his age. Nothing to notice in that, in itself. He was tall though, he really had to give credit there. Taller than this current body, and how old was Hades? In truth, Hades may have simply written it off as the punk culture that ran in the undercurrents of the city. That would have been it, were it not for his sight. His soul showed its scars; plenty of tragedy, if he had to guess. But, well, what was truly fascinating was that the boy wasn't alone. Another presence followed him. Mighty, but incorporeal at the moment. Well, that elevated the boy from punk, to interesting. Did he even know that he was being followed? The presence was similar to his, but he couldn't quite place it without some information. Still, he was staring, and some might consider that rude. Just... not at the boy anymore. The presence drew his attention far more. It wasn't a primal, even if it held power comparable to one. Well, nothing that he couldn't figure out one way or another. Perhaps simply calling him over would be for the best. If nothing else, something to observe. In truth, he much preferred observation. Having to do things took so much energy he could be using for something else. But he supposed that, in order to give Alex a chance, he should try and do this thing called socialize. Let it never be said he didn't try. He found himself folding his newspaper, and laying it flat on the table. "You do realize you are being followed, child?" A calculated card to play. He wasn't one to announce his abilities, but, it was a good way to get their attention. And this one, well, he was more curious than anything. 0000 WORDS |

[nospaces] [attr="class","sghover"] [attr="class","sgimg"] [attr="class","sgtitle"]Seymour [attr="class","sgoverlap"]Life is but a passing dream. [attr="class","sgbody"]Seymour had taken to Sonora much easier than anyone, himself included, could have ever guessed. Despite Spira’s ban on all types of machina and technology, Seymour felt like he was adapting fairly well. At least well enough for day-to-day existence in the frozen northerly city. And he enjoyed it here. Nothing here reminded him of his life before which was ideal. Here in Sonora he could be a blank slate and start a completely new life with no lingering memories of the old. [break][break] Today was a simple day for him. He had no current jobs and no plans. He was simply out running errands in the city. He wore a simple dark blue coat over a dark green shirt and black pants. It was horribly understated as compared to his traditional robe from Spira but it helped him blend in, just a little. He’d even trimmed up his hair and styled it a little less flamboyantly recently. Seymour would always look like an outsider in Sonora, but there were certain steps he’d made sure to take to mitigate it just a little. Because if he’d learned anything during his time in the city, it was that Sonora didn’t always take kindly to outsiders. [break][break] Seymour pulled his thick coat around himself and pushed into a small cafe, desiring a quick break in between his errands around the city. He’d developed an immense love of hot drinks such as coffee and hot chocolate after his first few outings with Aerith. And for cheesecake after he’d given in and tried the squishy sweet at his friend’s urgings. He stepped up to the counter, barely paying any attention to the other cafe patrons, and ordered a latte and a slice of cheesecake. [break][break] He’d almost made it to a table with his drink and dessert when he was stopped by a sudden and cold voice. At first, he wasn’t sure if the words were directed at him. He felt instantly incredulous and annoyed at the term child. Not just because he was old enough to be considered a man by most, but especially because it was the impersonal term Jyscal most commonly used. Seymour tensed and turned to look at the speaker. He furrowed his brow and took in the man’s appearance. Apparently Seymour was not the only strange outsider to make Sonora their home. The man’s two-toned hair was nearly as distinctive as his own. And there was something, some type of dot or stone in the center of his forehead. Seymour had no idea what it was.[break][break] “Excuse me? Are you talking to me?” The summoner glanced behind his shoulder and saw nothing and no one. What did the stranger mean? Who could possibly be following him?
