[attr="class","sgbody"]Stars sparkled in the night sky above as Seymour slipped gratefully into the steaming hot water of the Meltwater Springs. The water was nearly too hot to stand, a sudden and jarring contrast with the cold Sonoran air. He’d just returned from a journey to Metaia Temple that hadn’t gone exactly as planned. It had left him wounded and feeling out of sorts, so he decided to visit the famous healing springs on the outskirts of Sonora. He had the gil to reserve a room for a couple of nights which granted day and night access to the hot springs. Night was definitely better. There were way fewer people out at the resort at night. It wasn’t exactly easy to relax with tons of tourists, including children, pressed in around you. It was especially tiresome for him to be around so many humans. Seymour didn’t appreciate the gawking and the pointing at the tell-tale signs of his guado heritage. Thankfully tonight the springs were mostly deserted.[break][break] The summoner reclined back, resting his head on the warm rocks behind him and staring at the tranquil night sky. He didn’t know if the waters in the hot springs had actual healing properties but they sure felt like it. Maybe it was just psychological, but it didn’t really matter. After fighting hordes of zombies, this was what he needed to recuperate. [break][break] His long blue hair drifted on the gentle movement of the water like two vibrant snakes. He tried to ignore everything else around him, the low hum of distant voices, the thrum of music from the resort, the glow of lights from the rooms. He just wanted to relax, to reflect on his life here in Zephon, to enjoy his new lot in life. Where in Spira could he have ever experienced something like this? [break][break] Seymour realized he’d likely never felt as happy in Spira as he did now, with the simple pleasure of the resort’s healing waters. His life in his homeworld had been lonely, isolating, and harsh. There had been no simple pleasures there, not for him. He drifted in his thoughts, oblivious to the world around him.

PROMPTO IS A DISASTER HUMAN
I'm gonna keep on keeping on the only way I know how
”Oh, dude! A hot spring!”
Prompto hadn’t really known what to do with himself once the road had ended, and he’d hopped out of the car of his mysterious, red-haired savior. It was cold. The snow beneath his feet had iced over in the night, leaving it slippery and dangerous. Prompto had shivered in the cold without the coat and hat which had been there for him in the Niflheim tundra before. He could have summoned them to himself, probably, the way he did his guns and autocrossbow, but that would’ve meant changing down to his underwear in the middle of the street, and that didn’t sound like a good idea. So he’d shivered, bare arms crossed tightly over his vest, as he’d waved his new friend goodbye.
Reno had said he was going to the city. Somewhere called Sonora that Prompto had never heard of. He’d asked if Prompto wanted to go with him, but that hadn’t sounded like the best idea. With the cold and the ice and the gray skies, they were clearly in Niflheim. Somewhere. If Prompto wasn’t on some kind of cool wanted poster around here then he’d be disappointed.
”Oh you know. Think I’ll stay here. Walking. Should be fun.” He’d leaned back where he stood, ankles crossed and arms behind his head as he tried very hard to look cool. Whatever Reno had thought about it, he’d left him just like he’d asked, and Prompto was left on the side of the road just like he’d started.
”Should be fun, huh?” he said again, lower this time. He took a short breath before rubbing his hands together and straightening himself. ”I got this,” he said. ”Totally. Just gotta keep moving forward.”
Not that he had any idea where that actually was.
But a hot spring sounded like a good start. He’d heard about it on the road, and knew he had to try it. He needed a place to stay anyway, didn’t he? Ignis had trusted him with enough money to take care of himself if he got lost, and boy oh boy was he lost now. It wasn’t even irresponsible, really. He was cold. He was tired. He was hungry, and he couldn’t find another inn anywhere. Camping spots were out of the question too. Noctis always kept the tent.
So he’d ended up at the hot springs. And he had to say, situation aside it was pretty awesome.
”Ah man. This is so cool!” Prompto giggled as he changed into the swim trunks that he kept in that weird summoning dimension which Prompto had nicknamed “Hammer Space” after a videogame and some internet memes. ”A real hot springs! This is just like in the movies!”
He should have felt sad, he thought. Or scared. Or worried. But he didn’t want to feel any of those things so he decided to feel happy instead. Still, he couldn’t help the pain that crept up when he wasn’t looking. ”Wish Noct was here to see it.” He imagined them both together, making jokes and talking about their favorite movies. Noctis would have loved it. Prompto felt his absence like a missing part of himself.
Where was he?
”Nope, nope. Not going there. Bad idea.” Prompto shook his head then plastered on the same smile he’d worn for years. ”Just gonna have fun. And warm up. It’s freezing!”
He padded down to the springs with a towel in his hand. The place was creepy without anyone else around. It had already been pretty late at night when he’d gotten there and even later once he’d checked into his room. He was tired. Maybe he should have gone to sleep already, but come on. How could he pass this up?
”Uh.” There were two sides to the hot spring. Two sides and two hallways. ”Okay…?” He looked around for anyone to help him, but no one was there. One for the boys and one for the girls? He took the side he thought was right then found himself in another hallway with more doors. No one to tell him what to do. He just had to pick one.
”You got this,” he said then set his eyes on the middle one and walked confidently right on in.
To find someone else. Already there. ”Oh, uh…”
The man in the water was about his age. He thought. It was really hard to tell because the longer he looked at him the weirder he was. He had sharp veins running down his head and two dragon tattoos on his bare chest. Then there was his hair -- a bright, bright blue.
”Cool style, bro.” Prompto grinned, trying very, very hard to distract from how uncomfortable this was. ”Love the hair. It’s uh…” Cork-screwed. And gelled back. And stuck out to the side like horns. ”Real nice. Seriously, how long does that take you? It gets pretty intense keeping up my look.”
Shut up, Prompto! You’re making it weird!
”So uh. Guess I’ll get going.” Prompto grinned awkwardly, shooting him finger guns because he’d lost all control of his life. ”Heh. Cause. This one’s taken. You know?”

[attr="class","sgbody"]Seymour heard the sounds of footfalls on the stone floor growing nearer. He groaned and opened his eyes. Was it just an employee, coming to tell him the springs were closed? Or a fellow patron? Whatever it was, he was pretty sure it was going to annoy him and dispel the calm atmosphere of the night. The summoner fixed his gaze on the doorway as he heard someone mutter to himself. He couldn’t hear the words, only picking up enough to deduce it was a man. [break][break] Suddenly, the source of the sound burst into Seymour’s calm little world. It was a human man, probably about his age, with blonde hair and a bewildered expression. Seymour fought the urge to roll his eyes or make a snarky comment about his appearance. Zephonites clearly had no idea what a Guado was, so they all seemed to stare at him with a mixture of revulsion and confusion. What would they think of a full-blooded Guado? At least Seymour looked mostly human. [break][break] He shifted in the hot spring and sat up straight to look at the man. He just felt tired. He didn’t even know how to react when he started awkwardly spewing words and thoughts about Seymour’s hair. “Uhhh,” he started, staring at the man’s blonde hair. How did that take any effort? “It’s not… normal human hair. Entirely. It’s pretty stiff.” Seymour tossed the two horns of hair behind his bare shoulders. Maybe he should just cut it already. And style it in a more human style. Clearly, he’d just keep getting these types of reactions otherwise. “And lots of gel.” The newcomer’s jittery and uncomfortable attitude was making Seymour himself awkward. [break][break] Then the man made an odd hand gesture at Seymour and looked visibly pained. He said he’d leave. Seymour just stared at him for a long, confused moment. What… did any of that mean? “This was the only open one when I came down,” he finally said. He sighed and stood up, water dripping off his hair. “Look, you can have it if you want. I’ve been here for a bit.” He didn’t make an immediate move to get out of the warm, healing waters though. Instead, Seymour’s gaze landed on the thick towel in the other man’s arms. [break][break] Right. There was something he’d forgotten. Thankfully Seymour wasn’t into bathing nude like some of the patrons here, but he still didn’t relish walking through the entire resort in only dripping wet trunks. He sat on the edge, the water sloshing around his calves. He stared awkwardly at the blonde man for a minute. “Did you see any more towels down here?” he finally asked.

This might be a short scene lol
I'm gonna keep on keeping on the only way I know how
The man stared at him. Just stared at him. Quietly. Prompto kept up his grin, laughing nervously as the silence dragged on. Finally, the blue-haired man spoke. Kind of. It was more a ’noise of unfathomable awkward.’
Nice one, Prompto. Nice.
”It’s not... normal human hair,” the man said finally. ”Entirely. It’s pretty stiff.”
”Oh. Uh.” Prompto tried to comprehend that, but the words didn’t compute. Finally, after way too long, he blinked at him, leaning forward. ”Wait. Human hair?” Did that mean what he thought it meant? Not normal human meant... not human, right? But what else was there?
Man this day just kept getting weirder and weirder.
”Haha. Gel. Yeah, I get the gel.” How was he supposed to ask someone if they were human? That seemed kind of insensitive didn’t it? Particularly to someone who looked so weird to begin with. The more Prompto thought about it, he guessed that he wasn’t one to judge, being a clone and all. But still…
”So about that human thing…”
The man stood, and Prompto flinched, preparing to see way more than he’d bargained for, but the man was wearing swim trunks under all that water. Sweet, merciful swim trunks.
”Look, you can have it if you want,” the man said, but Prompto shook his head emphatically.
”Wha-? Hey, no. You were here first! Law of the hot springs, right?” What was he talking about? ”Yeah, totally. So you can have it. Wasn’t really feeling it alone, anyway.” He really hoped the guy didn’t read too much into that. ”So uh. You stay! I’ll just... get going.” Another nervous laugh. Prompto leaned back, gesturing towards the door.
”But uh. The towels are in the hallway. If you need them.”
[attr="class","sgoverlap"]Life is but a passing dream.
[attr="class","sgbody"]The other man clearly couldn’t handle Seymour’s statement about his hair not being normal and human. It was actually almost comical to watch the confusion and awkwardness written so clearly on his face. They kind of just stared at each other for a minute longer, both having no idea what to say until the newcomer apparently couldn’t handle it any longer. [break][break] ”So about that human thing…” [break][break] Seymour bit back a sigh. Why had he even mentioned it in the first place? Had he just wanted to make this guy feel more uncomfortable? If so, he’d succeeded. “I’m half this race of people called the Guado. But they’re not from here so that will probably doesn’t help.” He should have just said gel, only gel. [break][break] When Seymour offered to leave their awkward exchange just continued to elevate to new painful levels. The blonde man emphatically refused, telling Seymour to stay with far too many words. And what did wasn’t really feeling it alone mean? It didn’t seem like he was feeling it with Seymour either. Not, of course, that he wanted that either. But would it be polite to suggest they could share? Was that even more awkward? “Uhhh. You know, I don’t think I’m feeling it anymore either.” [break][break] Oh thank Yevon, the man told him where to find towels. “Stay or go, it's up to you. But I’m going to go up to my rooms now anyway.” And before they could go back and forth about who should stay or go again, Seymour marched into the hallway and grabbed a fluffy white towel. He towel-dried his hair a bit before tying it around his waist and fleeing back to his rooms.
