[attr="class","jrtitle"]Jessie
[attr="class","jroverlap"]Sorry! I'll freak out if I don't talk.
[attr="class","jrbody"]Dagger had an interesting interpretation of the importance of the tragic ending of the play. Apparently she’d been well-off as a child and unable to show her emotions. Jessie could sort of relate. Her childhood was one of the few times of her life she remembered with any clarity. The details were fuzzy, but she remembered living a good life with her parents. Her father was employed, she couldn’t remember exactly where, but she knew it was a pretty cushy job. He made plenty of money to support her through her childhood and indulge her whims. She’d hidden a lot of her internal struggles back then. In fact, she still did. So Jessie could see where Dagger was coming from, at least a little bit. [break][break]
“Oh no, it’s fine!” she protested when the other girl tried to apologize for her explanation about her life and the importance of the tragedy. “Don’t apologize. I think it makes sense.” She seemed surprised when Jessie said some people had no idea how they arrived in Zephon. Then she asked where Jessie hailed from. She almost giggled at the overly formal wording. How well off had she been if she spoke this formally? [break][break]
Jessie certainly agreed that learning of people from other worlds was very interesting. She was always willing to listen to the tale of someone’s homeworld and their lives there. Dagger seemed equally intrigued. Unfortunately, Jessie couldn’t give her much. She shrugged and tried to mask her sadness. “I’d tell you more if I could, but I really can’t remember much before I came here. Just a city of metal with a steel sky. I remember bits and pieces of my childhood, my family and my theatre work there. But I might have suffered some sort of amnesia when I arrived here.” She tried to smile, but it was forced. “I don’t even remember the name of the city or world I came from, not anymore. But I’m nearly positive it isn’t anywhere in Zephon.” Jessie looked past Dagger, her gaze a little unfocused. “I came with a type of magic called materia. I knew how to use it, somehow, even if I didn’t remember much else. But it’s not like the magic most people have. So I’m pretty sure I came from somewhere distant.” [break][break]
The other girl looked utterly horrified at Jessie’s suggestion of writing down her beloved play. She was babbling, clearly unable to handle the thought of slightly marring the masterpiece. Jessie smiled again, pushing past her earlier sadness. The poor girl. She hadn’t meant to make her this uncomfortable with her suggestion! “Maybe write down the lines anyway though? Even just for yourself so you’ll never forget them. You wouldn’t have to actually make it into a play if you didn’t want to, but if the play doesn’t exist here it would make sense to make one copy at least, right?” Who knew how long they’d be stuck in Zephon after all. After years away from her homeworld, Dagger certainly might forget some of the details that were currently still fresh in her mind.
