"You have to choose."
Indeed Bartz did, but the choice was not an easy one to make. He bit his bottom lip as he concentrated on the task at hand. His eyes darted back and forth as the sweat beaded at his forehead. The hushed mumbles of the crowd around him did nothing to help lessen the load lay upon him, but they seemed to be growing impatient and agitated as the seconds ticked by. He closed his eyes for a moment finally coming to terms with what he had to do. Hesitantly he pointed.
"Oof no ball. Better luck next time."
Bartz snapped his fingers. "Drat!" There was no ball under the cup this time. He had thought he had it figured out but something about the cups moving so fast spinning around and around! He shrugged with a 'maybe next time' attitude as the popsicles at the next cart caught his attention. The blue raspberry stood out to him and soon enough his lips were sticky and stained a dark blue as he walked away from the merchants and closer down to the beach.
It was a day to relax. Bartz wasn't quite sure how long he had been on the hunt for Boko, but he felt he had been gone for quite a bit of time. He hadn't really kept count. Why would he? It wasn't as though there was anything but the wind at his back to tell him what to do. It was such a beautiful day anyway, and the warm sand and beautiful sea were calling his name. Boko was a clever chocobo; he'd be fine another day. He was too deep in his thoughts and his popsicle to notice the ball hurdling towards his face.
Thwomp.
Bartz choked on his treat for a second not realizing what had happened. It felt like he had been stung by something as he looked around only to see a frayed and tattered ball at his feet. He only had time to blink a few times before a kid ran up with a "Sorry, mister." before grabbing the ball and running away. He watched them for a minute and wondered if that was something he would want to do, but decided today was indeed going to be a lazy day. He saw the people taking floats from a stand and hurried over.
"Raft for one please," "We're all out. I've only got floats for two or more people, buddy."
He turned to ask Faris pretty please, but the man wasn't next to him. He tapped at his chin for a second before beginning to jump up and down shouting, his swim trunks sliding dangerously low before he caught them. "Hey! Hey! I need someone to rent a raft with me. Hello? Anybody?!!?! Please." He screamed continuing to make a spectacle of himself in hopes someone would go out on the water with him.

[attr="class","jrbody"]Today was a great day! Jessie stood on the windy beach with one hand on her hip and the other clutching a rolled towel. She wore a red bikini with a pretty flowered skirt wrap around her waist. She was slathered in sunscreen, had her mirrored sunglasses on, and her hair tied back. She was ready for a day in the sun! The sand was warm under her bare feet and she dug her toes in, savoring the feel. This was the best part of Torensten. Maybe a little too crowded sometimes, but overall the beach was beautiful and perfect. [break][break]
She kept hold of her towel and went up to a popsicle cart on the side of the beach. It was hot and something cold and sweet was just what she needed. She waited behind a young man with messy brown hair. He wore a huge, silly grin and seemed to very much enjoy the blue raspberry treat he got. Jessie grinned and decided it was fitting, given her last name and all. So she ordered the vibrant blue flavor as well. It was a little bit overwhelming, but good nonetheless. [break][break]
Jessie was laying her towel out on the sand near the crashing waves when she heard a commotion behind her. She turned to see the same man from the popsicle cart looking confused and possibly hurt with a ball lying at his feet. Had someone accidentally hit him? He looked so dazed and Jessie felt bad for a moment. But he didn’t seem fazed for long. Instead, with a boundless enthusiasm even more than she possessed he marched up to the raft stall, seeming like he was on some very important mission. Jessie bit into the last bit of her popsicle and shuddered at the cold sensation in her teeth. She got up to toss the stick in a trash bin. [break][break]
”"Hey! Hey! I need someone to rent a raft with me. Hello? Anybody?!!?! Please." Jessie stared in bemusement as the man began to jump up and down and yell for someone, anyone to rent a raft with him. She stifled a giggle as he caught his sliding swim trunks before disaster struck. Well, he sure seemed like an interesting person. Almost childlike in his glee, though she thought he couldn’t have been too much younger than she was. The other beachgoers seemed to be pointedly ignoring him. Some whispered as they passed. And no one offered to raft with him. [break][break]
With a good-natured laugh, Jessie ran over to him. What the hell? This guy seemed like he knew how to have fun. And she didn’t like boring days anyway! She wanted some fun and excitement. She waved enthusiastically. “Hey! I’m Jessie,” she said with a jaunty grin. She reached into the sewn-in pocket in her skirt wrap and pulled out a couple of gil. “Wanna raft together?”

Bartz was just about to give up. He could always just wait until someone brought back a single use vessel. Those drinks in the coconuts and little umbrellas did seem really tempting. And beside he was getting tired and hot from all his jumping up and down. A thin film of sweat covered his brow and it was getting harder and harder to swipe at that and keep his pants up. His shoulders slumped in defeat as he sighed putting his arms down finally realizing there were strings to tie like a belt. He hmms as he's looking down figuring that out when he saw someone waving frantically back at him.
Bartz blinked up and felt his cheeks slowly pink. It was a girl! And not just any girl, "Pretty," he said without thinking looking at her chestnut hair pulled back into a ponytail, and the floral bikini and skirt combo. He took more than just a moment to gawk but finally he snapped his attention back realizing he couldn't see her eyes behind the sunglasses. He hoped she had eyes. "Pretty ugh cool of yeah to want to go rafting," he added with a laugh running his hand through his messy hair as he beamed at her with his brightest smile. "I'm Bartz! Nice to meet ya."
He patted at his pocket pulling out the little bag of gil that he had. Faris had told him this was for emergencies or food, but this seemed as big an emergency as any. He couldn't let his new friend pay for it all that would probably be rude. "Alrighty, one raft for a twosome, sir!" He said with elation slapping his coins on the counter as the man just blinked at him. A few seconds later he heaved over a two seater raft. "Haha alright. Awesome!" He yipped pumping his free fist in the air as he grabbed the looping his arm to hold it better. He flashed his new friend a big grin. "Last one to the water is a rotten chocobo egg!" he said before beginning to sprint towards the ocean. He hadn't realized how hot the sand would be on his bare feet.

[attr="class","jrbody"]As Jessie walked up to the very excited jumping man, he seemed to finally realize he could tie his swimming suit. She giggled, egged on further by the blush that spread over his cheeks at the sight of her. He commented pretty before rather clumsily trying to cover it up. Jessie didn’t believe for a second that he’d meant to say pretty cool from the beginning. He had a nice laugh, though. Light and happy and full of life. Yes, this would be a fun day. [break][break] The man, Bartz, produced the other half of the gil needed to rent the raft. The man behind the counter just seemed perturbed. Maybe he was overwhelmed by Bartz’ energy. Jessie grinned hugely as a raft was heaved onto the counter for them. She’d never actually gone rafting on the ocean before! Rivers, sure. But this would be a new adventure. She was reaching to help him carry the raft out to the waves but suddenly he was gone, flying across the hot sand and taunting her. She burst out in laughter as he seemed to react to the hot sand, jumping a little with each step. But she followed him, sprinting and trying to ignore the pain in her feet. Maybe she needed to invest in some water shoes. [break][break] Apparently, she was going to be a rotten chocobo egg. She was nearly to the crashing waves when her foot landed in a hole. Who had been digging a hole and hadn’t covered it back up? She yelped in surprise and pain as her ankle twisted and she went crashing down to the sand. Her face connected painfully with a thousand rough granules of sand. Jessie groaned and forced herself up into a cross-legged seated position on the hot sand. Her ankle throbbed, but it didn’t seem to hurt too intensely. Mostly, she just felt embarrassed. She looked around for Bartz with a sheepish smile on her face. “Looks like I’m the rotten chocobo egg.”
