No, it couldn’t be. It was just a random girl, some citizen of Torensten. It couldn’t be who he thought. Vincent tried to ignore his wandering mind, trapping him in the past. He moved purposefully through the night-dark streets of the great city of Torensten, looking for somewhere to grab dinner. His life had been busy recently, what with fleeing Sonora and having to acclimate to Torensten instead, and then meeting up with the Dragonblades. He didn’t mind, but he really wanted somewhere to eat a peaceful dinner before returning to his room for a much-needed sleep.
He was probably just tired. That’s why his mind was playing tricks on him, thinking he saw someone from his past in Gaia. Plenty of girls had similar short dark hair. It really wasn’t anything distinctive. But he couldn’t shake the image of a preposterously large shoulder pauldron. How long had it been since Yuffie even wore that outfit? Vincent shook his head and focused on the street ahead.
He slipped through the citizens of Torensten as if he’d lived there for years, as if he belonged. Gone was his distinctive red cloak and gold armor accents. Here, he tried to blend in. His outfit was simple and fully black, save for the pink ribbon he couldn’t bear to remove from his arm. It might seem an odd adornment, but Vincent felt it would be an insult to Aerith’s memory to remove it, even here.
A bustling tavern sat at the end of the twisting street. The building looked a little lopsided like the builder just hadn’t entirely finished it. But Vincent had heard it had some of the best food in Torensten, so he was willing to look past a shoddy exterior. He pushed his way into the tavern and quickly glanced around. He relaxed visibly when he saw the calm and quiet vibe of the place. This wasn’t a bustling bar full of crowds and noise, just a small and intimate setting for small groups and quiet conversations. Just his style.
A woman greeted him politely and told him to sit wherever. He chose the small table in the far corner where he could keep an eye on the entire tavern, while still being somewhat isolated from the other patrons. He’d noticed the ideal spot the second he’d walked in. The polite woman brought him whiskey on the rocks and he sipped it, savoring the burn and trying to decide what to order to eat.
Vincent was relaxed and peaceful, happy for the seemingly calm night. He’d nearly forgotten about the sighting of a girl that looked like Yuffie.
Unfortunately for Vincent, what he saw was very real, and his quiet and peaceful evening was about to come crashing to a halt. At first, she didn't recognize him without the ragged red cloak and random pieces of golden armor, but once she got a good look at him, she was convinced it had to be him. Unfortunately, the crowd was just large enough that she couldn't approach him right away, so she opted to just follow him around. Not at all like a stalker, of course. That only counts if it's someone you don't know. Right? Probably. At the very least, it was reason enough to justify it in her head; not that she ever needed much to convince herself in anything she did, but that's beside the point.
Either way, she followed him for a good while it seemed, until he finally sat down at a tavern of some sort. Luckily for her, they didn't stop her at the door, so either they were okay with underage people being here so long as they didn't try to drink alcohol or their security was extremely lax. And if was the latter, then...hey, not her problem. They need to stop sleeping on the job. Once inside, she looked around for her brooding "friend", and smiled upon seeing him. Then, with all of the casualty you'd expect from a person like Yuffie, she proceeded to sit next to him like it was the perfectly natural thing to to. Which, to be fair, in her mind it was. Regardless, once she got a good, close-up look at him, she grinned.
"I knew it was you. For a moment there, I was beginning to think my eyes might have been playing tricks on me, but sure enough, here you are..." She then pauses for a moment, a sudden look of worry on her face "...please tell me you have your memories."

[attr="class","vvbody"]Vincent’s calm evening was not to be. He had just ordered food when all semblance of calm was shattered. He hadn’t been imagining things after all. Yuffie Kisaragi flounced through the door with her trademark overconfidence. Without even thinking about it, she marched right up to Vincent’s table and sat right next to him. His mouth gaped open. Was this really happening? Sure, he’d heard Cloud was in Zephon. But he hadn’t heard anything about Yuffie. And he certainly didn’t expect her to just randomly appear. [break][break] He was at a complete loss for words as she grinned up at him and commented how she knew it was him. He didn’t look completely the same, he knew. His attire was different. His hair was even a little shorter, trimmed up after an unfortunate incident with a slime monster just last week. But as he stared at Yuffie, he realized she looked identical. Except that her outfit was old. She hadn’t worn that pauldron in years, had she? Vaguely, he realized she was talking but he was still so floored that he could barely focus on anything. [break][break] But then she asked if he had his memories and that finally brought him back to reality. “Yuffie? It’s really you?” That was a stupid question. Who else could she be? “I forgot some things at first. But it’s come back. I’ve been here a few months now,” he said, still wearing a look of shock. “Why do you ask about my memories?” [break][break] “How are you here? When did you get here?” he was being positively chatty for Vincent. He was feeling almost emotional. He had thought it unlikely he’d even meet anyone from Gaia again. He’d looked for Cloud, a bit, but had no luck. He’d accepted it, he was fine with it. But now, like a ghost from the past, here was Yuffie. Suddenly and abruptly, as was her way. And he had to admit, he was pretty damn happy to see her.
Okay, good. He remembers her; already a step in the right direction. Naturally, if Vincent gave any indications (visual or otherwise) that he was less than thrilled to see her, she remained blissfully unaware of them. She was dense like that, even though she usually meant well. However, when his annoyance turned into disbelief, she blinked. Hearing his first question, she nodded. "Yeah, it's me, alright. I can't imagine anyone else wandering around in this outfit, can you?" She responds with a cheeky grin. Still, it was nice to see him. Even now, Yuffie couldn't tell you what it was about Vincent that intrigued her so much, but regardless, it was nice to see a familiar face that actually remembered her.
That followed was a barrage of uncharacteristically emotional questions from Vincent, which caught her off guard. It wasn't like she thought he was some emotionless machine or anything of the sort, but all the same, this was definitely new. She took it in stride and answered to the best of her ability. "Well...to start with, I have no idea how or why I'm here, though...somehow, I doubt I'm the only one asking that. As for me personally...well, I returned to Wutai for a bit after the whole Omega incident...then, one day, I suddenly wake up here. Been here for...two and a half weeks maybe. I've lost count of the exact number of days, but that sounds about right."
She lets out a sigh as she continues "As for why I'm asking if you remember me, it's because I ran into Tifa about a week ago. Apparently, it's not uncommon for people who get dragged into this strange place to lose their memories, and she was no exception. At first, she didn't remember me at all...I think meeting me seemed to jog some of her memories, but she still couldn't recall much about the time we spent together. Decided it was probably best to leave her alone and let her work things out on her own. Trying to force it would probably just do more harm than good." Yuffie let out an annoyed sigh, realizing how uncharacteristically gloomy she was being.
"I've heard some other rumors that Cloud and Barret might be wandering around somewhere, and I'm pretty sure I caught a few glimpses of some all-too-familiar black suits in that one huge city...Sonora, was it?...but anyways, I haven't seen or heard anything concrete. For the most part, I've just been laying low and trying to lay low and gather as much info about this place as possible...and see if I can find any signs of where everyone is...sorry about the whole "stalking you" thing, by the way...I just...had to be sure it was you..." She says with a slightly sheepish smile.

[attr="class","vvbody"]It was definitely Yuffie, all right. Her grin and upbeat attitude was unmistakable even if the outfit wasn’t a dead giveaway. Vincent took another sip of his drink, trying to steady himself for this completely unexpected interruption in his evening. The liquor burned and probably didn’t actually help to calm his mind. But it gave him something else to focus on. Something that wasn’t the uncharacteristic and unexpected swell of emotion he felt at seeing a familiar face after so long.[break][break] He listened intently as Yuffie rambled. It sounded like she had been pulled into Zephon a bit after he had. They’d both been in Wutai when it happened. Was there a link there? Something that happened in Wutai that brought them both to this strange new world? But then Yuffie dropped the bomb that Tifa was here in Zephon too. Vincent was shocked to hear that she was here too. He was less shocked to hear about her memory loss. He’d met others with similar memory troubles. He was thankful he’d retained the majority of his memories, apart from some haziness when he had first arrived. [break][break] “Tifa? I hadn’t heard anything about her,” he said when Yuffie paused. “Someone told me they met Cloud.” He remembered his meeting with Ignis, the mild-mannered chef. But even after hearing that Cloud was in Sonora, Vincent hadn’t gotten a more concrete lead. “I haven’t been able to find him, though. You’re the first person from Gaia I’ve met here.” He nodded at her comment about familiar black suits. Yes, he’d noticed them too. Though he couldn’t be certain if they were Turks or not, maybe they were just natives of Zephon. He hadn’t felt the desire to investigate. His days as a Turk were long behind him. [break][break] “Sonora is the most like Midgar. Makes sense that they’re there. It reminds them of home.” He paused and rubbed his neck, glancing away from Yuffie. “I woke up there first. But I’m not exactly allowed back in now. So I have no way to look for anyone there.” That was an understatement. Vincent knew he’d be killed on sight if he ever even approached the gates of the northern city without a very thorough disguise. “I hadn’t thought anyone else to be in Torensten.” [break][break] Vincent smirked slightly at the comment about stalking him. “I’d expect nothing less of you, Yuffie.”
