Woo! Mission time!
Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess
Sephiroth seemed perplexed about why Zack would have the buster sword, but Genesis only responded by waving his hand with a scowl. It sounded like he hadn’t explained yet how oddly important Zack had become in their trio, and he honestly didn’t feel much like doing it now if Sephiroth didn’t push the issue. The new First-Class had been a nuisance, but he’d also been Genesis’ only connection to his dead friends. Zack had inherited Angeal’s spirit and Sephiroth’s blood, after all. It was a bit cringe-worthy to consider how desperate he’d been before coming to Zephon that he’d taken comfort in Zack’s presence of all things, but everything was different now. Sephiroth was alive. And maybe Angeal as well.
Sephiroth didn’t seem to know how to respond to Genesis’ admission that he was worried about Angeal not wanting to see him. Typical Sephiroth, waving off emotions like they didn’t matter. That was why the two of them had always been at odds, with Angeal generally serving as the referee. “Yes, it's Angeal. And maybe neither of us knew him,” Genesis muttered, glancing down at the dating slip still clutched in his hand. It was a hard thing to admit when he’d grown up with the boy. He’d spent half his childhood avoiding his parents by hanging out with Angeal’s family instead, but everything had changed after his accident. He supposed that people’s true colors tended to show when they discovered that they’d been born a monster.
“An airship?” Genesis grimaced at the way Sephiroth left no room for discussion in his statement of how they’d travel to Provo. “Just because you’re new to flying doesn’t mean that I am,” he grumbled. It could be tiring over vast distances, but flying was how he’d gotten around on Gaia, and he’d never had any problems there even when crossing oceans. He didn’t see why they needed to waste the money on airship passage when they both had a wing, but arguing with Sephiroth was usually pointless.
“Fine,” he grumbled, sliding down the couch, grimacing at the man’s assurances that they’d find Angeal. Finding him wasn’t the part that Genesis was worried about, but Sephiroth had always been good at missing the point. “Ripples form on the water’s surface. The wandering soul knows no rest,” he quoted as his eyes slipped closed. “Anything else of note in your absence?”
Perhaps Genesis himself should have shared that he’d given out their address to that silver-haired man he’d met at the masquerade. Asael had expressed interest in Sephiroth after all, but Genesis thought that he’d seemed rather nice. Nothing to be concerned over. And he considered himself an excellent judge of character.
