Scattered Memories
This is a fantasy based on reality. I don't ever want to wake up...
Zell's surprising enthusiasm really helped to relieve Lumina's frayed nerves. She didn't think her powers would be met with admiration but rather fear, dread and so forth. In turn, watching him flex as he critiqued her transformation, caused her to blush more. "O-oh." she'd admit, more so in a strange awe than doubt in her own abilities.
Things moved on rather well, with Zell catching onto her purpose. "Mhm, transforming into the Monster still puts me at risk directly. So I prefer to fight at range and divert attention..." she'd admit, feeling a huge weight off her shoulder. Was it strictly guilt for withholding this information? Lumina wasn't sure but she felt like she was doing the right thing now and it made her happy. Especially as he complimented her and placed a hand on her head. The latter action made her heat up as her heart began to race. "A-ah, I-I've been protecting my sister for s-some time..." she'd reply, her tone clearly embarrassed. Though she wasn't protecting her sister in a way she agreed with. Unfortunately, she had no idea to explain what happened to her.
Lumina was surprised there were more people from other worlds here. She felt special when her world consisted of only them being foreigners. With knowledge of another person with amnesia, it made her think seriously about their getaway vacation here. Especially once Zell confessed his true feelings about their circumstances. She frowned, able to empathize with him but she felt worse for not sharing his feelings. From what little she remembered of her world, it was coming to an end. Life and death had ceased mostly, hence her age difference. Lumina's gaze softened, even as a bunch of emotions swirled through her lithe form.
"I-I could help you remember?" she spoke up, far too meekly for her typical rambunctious persona. "It might take time for us to get back home of course... So we should try to enjoy our time here... together." she whispered that last part, feeling her selfishness getting in the way. Try as she might to help Zell, she really wasn't in a hurry to get home. Nor could she truly understand feeling homesick, not anymore that is. Most importantly, she realized why she wanted to confide in Zell in the first place.
Lumina... didn't want Zell to leave her. Not now... not ever... "T-these things take time, Zell." she added before looking down. If she did go home, from what little memories she had. Her goal was simple, protect her sister until a certain person woke up. Then she'd have to make sure that person hadn't lost her mind to a certain malevolent God. Then ultimately... her free time, her independence would come to an end.
If you don't fight for what you want, don't cry for what you lost.
Creating awkward situations was a part of Zell's personality. He had a history of it, which often led to him being scolded or yelled at. And yet, he felt as if he wasn't the only one acting kooky.
"Yeah, well," he said, finally stepping away to take in the situation. Zell could feel that Lumina was wanting something from him. They'd been travelling together for a while now, sure, but her level of attachment was a little uncomfortable. Whatever her intentions were, it felt like it was coming at him too fast and sudden.
"Let's just get some rest first, ya know?" His arms stretched upwards as a yawn was feigned, trying to divert the topic to something else at the moment. "We get some sleep, eat some breakfast, and then we can start making plans on where to go from here."
Of course, there was an odd feeling that he just couldn't get over. Zell heard Lumina's secrets, but were there more? Was there key details left out? There was a lot to take in, and he still needed to learn more about his own past. Maybe he would take an early walk and gather some information from the locals. There had to be something in this world that could put him on the right path towards the truth.

Scattered Memories
This is a fantasy based on reality. I don't ever want to wake up...
Surprisingly, Lumina was tired. Largely attributed to being emotionally drained from the sudden bout of anxiety she had pertaining to Zell. In the end, his simple words, his easy going character and practical sensibilities, calmed her down. He even laid out a good plan of action, he certainly knew quite a few tricks. It left Lumina with a slight smile and a softened expression.
"You know, eating and sleeping so soon isn't really good for you. Might just ruin your physical conditioning too~" she teased before slowly taking off her shoes. She briefly glanced over to the small table close to the door where she left the food packs before shaking her head. Zell's simplicity, as charming as it was, amused her in the usual manner now. Which was a relief, given the emotions she felt prior. Once she slipped off the duster and the attached aerial, she'd fold it neatly and place it on the night stand between their beds. Next, Lumina wrapped herself up in a comforter and proceeded remove her stockings before finally laying back on the provided pillows.
She probably looked a bit silly being so wrapped up, not unlike a burrito honestly or one of Zell's chili dogs. "We should have enough for a long term stay. The real trouble is..." at which point Lumina yawned, apologized for the interruption, then continued. "...Making more gill to sustain our adventures. If we've got to travel around more to learn about this world and get some clues, then we should be prepared." she advised feeling her body relax now.
"I miss beds, all that camping and sleeping in the back of caravans. I can't say I'm a city girl exactly but I sure feel like one now." a small tidbit, far lighter in scope than the bombshells she'd mentioned previously. Ultimately, Lumina trusted Zell, so she felt no reason to conceal much about herself. Not that she wanted to bombard him with her entire life story. There was plenty of time for it, people didn't get their memory back in a day, yet alone a week.
"Oh...we should...get a map...tomorrow..." clearly Lumina was sleepy and dozing off rapidly.
If you don't fight for what you want, don't cry for what you lost.
Lumina's casual undressing forced Zell to turn the other way and hide his embarrassment. "Yeah, yeah," he said dismissively while also removing his jacket and shoes, before eventually climbing into his own bed. Of course he knew she was teasing about eating and sleeping so soon, but the fact was that they really needed it. His tough guy persona could only hold up for so long before the neglect took a toll on his body.
Once Lumina settled into her bed, Zell rolled onto his back and looked up at the ceiling. The wooden panels above the pair were aligned so perfectly and uniformly, unlike his life, which was such a hectic mess. The teen's thoughts were so scattered that he didn't really hear what Lumina was saying to him as she fell asleep.
It didn't take him long to pass out from exhaustion. The night itself was rather peaceful for the SeeD. Simple dreams came and went with nothing of significance playing out out in his subconscious. And yet, Zell was still able to get up at an early hour to prepare himself for the day ahead.
Part of being a SeeD was the extensive military training that the candidates undergo before becoming mercenaries. For Zell, that training remained, even if he didn't remember it. His body woke itself up at an early hour before the sun could rise on the horizon to light the room. Lumina was still asleep, or at least it looked that way to him. It was his chance to slip away.
Cautiously, Zell climbed out of bed and snuck around the room. The floor was hardwood, but the soft throw rug helped conceal his light footsteps. Shoes? Check. Jacket? Check. Money? That was a complication that he didn't think about until now. What if he needed to pay for something like information from a greedy townie? Zell was broke and Lumina had been supporting him until now. He did glance over towards her things, but instantly refused to even think about stealing from her. He was no thief. Instead, Zell would just quietly make his way to the door and slip out into the city in search of answers.
