"It's ok Faris... Really, this time I failed... Again like...
Like when she coudn't help her Grandpa. The memory of death in that forest came back to, a reminder. A failure. She failed everyone then, she failed Faris and Bartz now. Was her sense Failing her..? No... No she knew better than that. Still she coudn't help but blame herself for this. In the wnd her sense had been what lead them here and... She lost Bartz. She was happy he was safe but... She just wanted her friends back. She wanted Bartz back, she wanted Lenna back... She just wanted then all together again.
"I... I know your mad at him, I'm upset to. I keep going over it in my head, how he can't even get an inkling of us... But he's still in there, you know? he's still Bartz, same wind guided, hard headed Bartz"
Faris didn't hate Bartz. She knew it before but her words now affirmed it even more. She knew it was hard for him, it was hard for her to. Bartz had always been a free spirit, but he also cared about his friend. Well she was sure he still did, he just didn't remeber that they were among them. It was hard, to be looked at that way. It was the worst, the cruelist type of irony to her. Faris understood it well, just as well as her. Their was a weird comfort in it. Not happiness of course, but Faris knew how she felt, he felt it himself. She wasn't alone in it. Thats right, she wasn't alone-Faris was here.
"Their's no use just blaming ourselves right? It won't make us feel better and certanly won't solve our issue"
She took a normal sitting position as Faris nudged her, she looked up with a smile and nodded, her face still stained with tears from her previous bout of sadness.
"Aye Faris"
She giggled a bit at her imitation of Faris' speaking voice. She looked at the crystal around her neck, and an idea popped into her head with Faris' last words. She stood to her feet and turned to Faris with a grin, her hands on her young hips.
"Well of course, I am the leader after all!"
She could only hold her joke for a moment before a laugh escaped her and she plopped back down besides Faris with a playful smile.
"You help me to Faris! Were stronger together, all of us... Of course we'll stick by each other... were like family right?"
And family sticks together, no matter what.

N'aww
You've got a lot of brass, or mayhap you're just lacking in brains!
”Aye?” Faris blinked before bursting out into laughter. ”You’re taking after me now?” He felt himself grin -- a real grin this time without a hint of darkness to it. Bartz wasn’t the only thing worth holding onto, and the thought of sweet, clear-headed Krile standing by him in a life of crime was as heart-warming as it was ridiculous.
”There’s a load of trouble down that path. It’s no easy thing, but I think you’ve got the guts for it. How about it? Two princesses taken to the open sea? I’ll make a pirate out of you yet!” Faris laughed again and leaned back, pressing his palms into the dirt. Maybe Krile had only been mocking him, but it was the kind of joke that only a true friend could manage. It made him feel like he was back on the deck of his ship trading insults over a bottle of whiskey -- or at least as close as he could get on land with a fourteen year old princess.
Faris was so lost in the thought that he nearly recoiled when the girl thrust herself upright and whirled around to face him. She had a decisive look in her eye as she thrust her hands on her hips. ”Well of course, I am the leader after all!”
Faris blinked at her. ”Leader? You?” But Krile was already giggling to herself and it didn’t take long before she’d fallen back beside him. Faris tried for a suspicious look despite the laughter in his eyes. ”Let’s not forget who the captain is around here,” he said, but she was already back to her usual self. Her smile was something contagious.
”Of course we'll stick by each other. We’re like family right?”
”Family?” Faris stared at her. Were they? He’d found Lenna after a lifetime apart and then there was the king of Tycoon -- not that they’d exchanged many words. Faris had gone his whole life without one, and even now the word sounded wrong placed on him. A family. It carried a load of meaning that he couldn’t have parsed apart if he’d tried. But if Krile said so…
”Aye.” Faris’ eyes warmed on the girl with a smile. ”Just like one.” It was odd saying it aloud, but he had no doubts. Krile would know, wouldn’t she? She’d had one before afterall. ”So how about it? Two sisters taking on the world? I think I like the sound of that.”
"Maybe I am! Supposed to look up to your older sibling right?"
She made Faris smile, she smiled to. Despite the result of the trip... This moment made up for it. They laughed and smiled with each other. Did she want to become a pirate with Faris? Why not? Faris wasn't what you attributed go most pirates. She pilaged but... From what she could tell Faris did not do the more terrible things many pirate crews did. She was a good person at the end of the day, Krile knew that. She looked up to all her friends... But Faris was the only one here besides her with a clear head.
So wasn't the answer obvious?
"Pirate Princess'! It has a nice ring to it doesn't it? Of course we've faced so much... We've been in an actual void!, I can handle it! We'll stick together... I'll make grandpa proud"
She eyed again the crystal around her neck and smiled. Grandpa would want her to be happy. He would want her to make her own life, even if in another world. She was sure he would be happy it was with his old friends to. His friends... Her family. She was having fun with Faris, her friend. Moments like this... It proved she wasn't alone, she would always have them. To Faris' comment on who the captian was she playfully tapped her chin, pretending she was trying to remeber.
"Captian? You mean Lenna?"
She smirked before giving another laugh, no she hadn't forgotten. Faris was the captian of his crew. In her opinion Faris and Lenna would both make great leaders for different reasons but that was just her. But she could see Faris leading a mobile group of people like she did with her pirate crew, she could see Lenna leading a town, like her home-it just made sense to her. Faris agreed and it caused a more gentle serene smile from Krile. It made her happy that someone else felt that way.
Her? Even if she joked about it leadership wasn't her thing, nope nope
Faris' suggestion made her glow, one could almost say her eyes sparkled in response. The two of them... Together, taking on this strange new world side by side? She wondered if it was what Faris and the others felt like when they first arrived in hers. An entire world to see, what did she say? That answer was easy for her! She would pump her fist in the air and declare!
"The answers yes! Of course! We'll see everything there is to see! Take it all on... It doesn't stand a chance!"
She would never be alone, Grandpa was watching over her and... She would always have her friends... Her new family.

So freaking cute

’Sisters.’ ‘Family.’ It was enough to make Faris’ head spin. He’d spent too long on the deck of a ship where affection was shown through drinking and jokes and attachments weren’t made beyond the water’s edge. What was it that families did? It was something he’d wondered in his younger years with his knees drawn to his chest and his eyes skyward. What did it mean to have parents? Sisters? People who would love him to the end of the earth and back? He’d wanted it once more than anything, but in time, he’d tossed that dream away. It sounded like a whole lot of nothing to him when there were horizons to cross and crews to uphold. But now…
Now it didn’t matter much what he’d though. There were no more horizons and no more crews. There was only Krile and the promise he’d given up so long ago. A family.
”You think you can manage? You’re about as kind as they get, and it takes a tough soul to run on the wrong side of the law. It’s not always a pretty picture, but when you know when pirating’s right and wrong, aye, it can give you a mighty dose of pride.”
He glanced at Krile and smirked. Could he imagine it? Krile? A pirate? Maybe if he roughed up her edges and hardened her heart a little. What would Galuf have said? It didn’t matter much, he supposed. The old man should’ve been happy someone had taken her under their wing at all.
Faris laughed tiredly and fell back into the grass. The sky was a deep ocean blue. The sun beat down into his eyes. His muscles cracked against the hard earth until he felt he might never rise again. ”We’ll rest here a while,” he said. ”I didn’t sleep a wink last night, and if I have to get back on that bird I’m like to call for blood.” He closed his eyes. The deep hum of cicadas engulfed him. A grasshopper landed on his arm and he didn’t move to shake it.
Bartz, Lenna, Krile. He’d known them to be close, but he’d never thought much on love between them. Still, when he imagined Bartz’ carefree grin, Lenna’s placid smile, or Krile’s determined teasing, he couldn’t say a word against it. He loved them each in their own way. That was why it hurt so much to lose them.
”Side by side,” Faris muttered. He didn’t open his eyes. ”I’ll stay with you til the end.” Faris yawned and let his head roll onto his shoulder. The sunlight that had once driven him to rage felt heavy now and nearly intoxicating. He felt his head swim with its heat.
