The Dragoon's Tomb
For three months, the rain fell day and night beneath a veil of low hanging clouds. It was the Reignstorm, the locals said. Natural and nothing to worry about. There was no concern from the soldiers of the World Sight, even as lightning crashed into the peak of their beloved tower time and time and time again…
It wasn’t until the rain finally slowed to a stop and the clouds parted that they realized that something was terribly wrong.
It had long been said that the World Sight housed the tomb of an ancient warrior -- the most holy of dragoons chosen by the gods and an ancient crystal. The tower itself was thought to be bathed in an aura of utmost peace, but as the clouds parted for the first time in months, the followers of the ancient hero witnessed a pillar of blue light shooting from the top of their tower like a signal fire. While no single bystander could make sense of it, eagle-eyed viewers could have sworn they caught sight of a hazy figure perched in the middle of it all -- though whether it was man or beast, no one could say.
The guards of this holy tower have denied comment and amplified their forces with the order to keep civilians at least a quarter of a mile from their lines. Wielding broadswords and halberds and clad fully in steel (click here), they patrol the lands around the World Sight constantly, though no one has ever seen one of them enter the tower itself.
Unbeknownst to all of them, this holy land will soon become a battleground.

The Cries of the Gods
Harmonious Souls: Every night, you dream of the same place -- a tower high in the mountains bathed in blue. With it comes a voice, quiet and gentle as a mother’s: “Within is a treasure among all treasures, a crystal of light within the tomb of a warrior. Protect it, my chosen, lest it fall to the wrong hands and we take our first steps into darkness.” You awaken, but the tower draws you to it. You must reach its peaks before the forces of Chaos.
Chaotic Souls: Going about your schemes, you’re suddenly hit with an ear-splitting headache that threatens to crack your skull in two. A vision penetrates your mind’s eye -- a tower in a haze of light. A monstrous growl comes soon after like thunder: “Inside is a weapon of your heart’s desire. A crystal of fire and light. Reach the top and you will be worthy of its strength.” There's a flash of a marbled tomb, a brief glimpse of glimmering stone, and it ends as quickly as it came. You feel that place stirring deeply in your soul: The World Sight. You must claim the power that’s rightfully yours.
Neutral Souls: While going about your business in Zephon, you hear tell of a strange anomaly atop the World Sight. You decide to infiltrate the tower and see what’s happened for yourself. If you’re lucky, you might find something worthwhile.

Welcome
For this event, we’ll be setting up three teams of 2-4 characters as they attempt to reach the peak of the World Sight. Each team will get their own thread in a special sub-board and will have to surpass obstacles set in place by a staff-owned Dungeon Master account. Characters which reach the top can then fight, barter, or compromise for the power that resides there. We hope to make this a new, recurring event format at Adventu, so please give us your full comments and feedback!
Goal
Reach the top of the tower and obtain the tomb's crystal of light. Though dwindling in power, it still retains enough light to restore one's memory, implant a fake memory into any NPC or member-owned character (so long as said member allows it), or regain a single power lost since entering Zephon.
Rules
- If you’re interested in this event, please comment below stating the participating character and your desired team.
- Only two characters per member can participate in this event and they must be on opposing teams.
- No characters will be killed during this event, however, they may no longer be able to progress if they are inactive or otherwise unequipped to deal with obstacles.
- At each major change of scenery, the Dungeon Master account will be describing the setting and the dialogue of any important NPCs. While you're encouraged to embellish or add the details and describe them in character, do not add elements into a scene that weren't previously described that would give you an advantage against obstacles.
- So as to encourage activity, the word count limit will lower to 150 words per post in this event.
- Any number of mutually aligned character can win with neutral parties able to win with either. This means that should two harmonious characters win, a chaotic character cannot win with them but a neutral character could.
- In order to keep these plot threads moving quickly, each member will have only five days to respond when it’s their turn. After five days, the next member in line will have the chance to respond instead. Any skipped characters can reply to events at any time so long as the party hasn’t moved on to the next section described by the Dungeon Master account. Any skipped characters who haven’t replied in this time will be considered incapacitated and left behind by the party.
- If only one character remains in a team after the others drop out, that character can still continue and interact with only the DM account.
- The results of any character vs character fighting will be left up to natural strength, wit, tactics, and out of character discussion. Please keep this civil and come to some kind of compromise!
