II. PERSONA
Vivi is naturally the quiet kid in the back of the class. His grades would probably be good, because he's pretty mature about getting things done, but he isn't very social and is more of a follower than a leader. The little black mage stutters, which shows that he is uncertain that what he has to say is of value. Being small in stature, it's easy to overlook Vivi; it doesn't help that he acts small and timid. Though not as gullible as when he first started on his journey with Zidane and the group, he's still young and has the attributes of a child when it comes to understanding things.
Being the youngest of the group in all situations (he's the youngest playable Final Fantasy character to date), it can also be said that Vivi is very mature for his age. Though he doesn't always understand what's going on, he does his best to understand, but often meekly accepts his friend's explanations and orders. When Vivi first met Zidane's group, he wouldn't use his powers at all because he lacked the confidence. Always curiously questioning his origins and his purpose, Vivi pushes forward through the hardships they all faced. With help and a confidence boost, Vivi is able to use his powers and even grow them. Though he is still timid and growing (well, mentally at least...), Vivi is a good kid and does his best to help in every situation, even if he is a little clumsy.
Vivi does not particularly like combat. Unlike some other more combative people in Vivi's life, he does not see the value of a skirmish that cannot gain anything, or putting forth the violent effort to do something that would end pointlessly. Vivi tends to be conservative with his mana, and has a natural instinct about how to properly use it and retain enough for bigger battles. Mages made from black mist tend to have this ability as their entire creation was for, simply, destruction on a world war level.

III. HISTORY
The furthest back Vivi could remember is the months he spent with his “Grandpa,” Quan. Quan had taken him in after fishing him out of the Ocean of Mist and had planned to raise him, fatten him up, and eat him. Oblivious to this fact, Vivi, who didn't grow much in those months, spent the rest of the Qu's life as a happy companion to his “Grandpa.” When Quan died, Vivi was left alone and with no reason to remain, he left Quan's dwelling and traveled via airship to Alexandria.
Due to a faked ticket and a streetwise rat named Puck who had convinced Vivi to sneak into the show, Vivi was chased into the middle of the Tantalus' “Kidnap the Princess” scheme and became their tag along. In their haste to escape from Alexandria, their airship took major damage. After an unfortunate crash in the Evil Forest, Vivi was very frightened and didn't use his magic to defeat a carnivorous plant, causing Garnet to be captured. After they regrouped, Steiner gave Vivi the confidence to use his abilities and magic to aid him in rescuing Garnet. Before this time, Vivi seemed to not have used his latent abilities at all, so they were still fairly new and grew quite fast after he finally began using them. Vivi's true potential is unknown, like much of his past, but it was found that he has a Trance Form, like Zidane, and it increases his powers dramatically. Despite all this, Vivi retained his sense of humility and modesty, perhaps even his gullibility, to a fault. It's fair to say that Vivi doesn't always seem to be confident because of it; and lets be honest, a lot of times he's not.
After escaping the Evil Forest, leaving the Tantalus behind and continuing just the foursome of Vivi, Garnet, Steiner and Zidane, they entered an Ice Cave where he became the victim of Black Waltz No. 1's sleep spell trap and was rescued by Zidane's efforts. After they made it to Dahli, Vivi was captured and put into a box like a giant doll, preparing to be shipped back to Alexandria. He had been frightened and was crying in shock. It turned out that Queen Brahne of Alexandria was commissioning these Black Mages to be made from the Mist to use as common foot soldiers, giving her an undeniable edge against any other country, who could not manufacture their soldiers as quickly.
Garnet and Steiner agree that it would be a good idea to go back and confront her mother about the Black Mage production and her plans for war, but Zidane disagreed and thought they should go to Lindblum, their original destination, because it was safer. However, they were stalled from departing by a strange mage named Black Waltz No. 2. This Black Waltz found little Vivi amusing and taunted him, using a stronger level magic counter every time Vivi attempted to use magic against him, but not using stronger magic otherwise unless he had to, making sure Vivi knew that the reason was to show him “how magic is really done,” which was a blow to Vivi's already wilting confidence.
Getting on a cargo ship piloted by Black Mages that acted like soulless puppets, the group didn't have much time to recover from their ordeal with the second Black Waltz before being confronted by yet another, Black Waltz No. 3. Regular Black Mages step forward to defend Vivi, but the Black Waltz 3 quickly does away with them with a grand Thundaga attack, bewildering Vivi, who doesn't understand. Vivi's confusion grows into anger and he goes into Trance form. The fight wouldn't have taken long with Vivi in this form, except Waltz No. 3 was very persistent and after his first defeat, chased the group down on a commandeered airship until he lost control of it and crashed.
After a failed attempt to get Regent Cid to take measures against Queen Brahne, the foursome are invited to an event called The Festival of the Hunt. Zidane tries to get Vivi to take part in it, but Vivi doesn't seem receptive to the idea of winning the prize Zidane offers. He is not girl crazy like Zidane is. Regardless, because he is so meek and accepting of whatever task put to him, Vivi enters the fray. The celebration is cut short, however, when a dying Burmecian soldier stumbles into the party.
Vivi is enlisted by Zidane to go with him and Freya to Burmecia to investigate what's going on. After the long journey, they reach Burmecia to find it in ruins, Queen Brahne standing over it proudly. She is not alone, however. She is flanked by a mysterious man named Kuja and the lovely General Beatrix. Despite their best efforts, the trio is easily bested by the seasoned warrior maiden.
Chasing the Queen and her companions to Cleyra, the group is nearly destroyed by Odin but narrowly escapes by slipping into one of the Alexandrian soldiers' teleport spells. They hid as stowaways on The Red Rose, the Queen's airship, until they reached Alexandria again.
Vivi's journey was without a doubt traumatic. He watched helplessly as Black Waltz No. 3 completely demolished an airship, destroying many of his race, particularly those who had tried to defend him. Then he found out he had been created as a killing machine in a factory by Kuja in Dahli. Discovering that he was created in a factory of sorts for Black Mage Foot-soldiers as a prototype, which is why he seems different from other mages, was hard for the curious little mage to accept. Finally he discovered the Black Mage Village and heard about his kind's limited life span and “Stopping,” the mage equivalent to death. He did show that he was growing mentally, however, when he wasn't gullible enough to believe Kuja when he promised that he was able to extend the life of Black Mages. Vivi has to take in a lot considering that he's only a few months old, chronologically, but he deals with it and shoulders it pretty well for a little kid, despite his humility and low self esteem.
Despite the horrible experiences, Vivi bravely pushes onwards for the truth, proving that inside the stuttering, clumsy little mage is something very strong that fights even the little one's own self doubt. Vivi is contemplative of his existence even after these moments, but comes to terms with it all and accepts his existence. When Zidane finally returned to Alexandria after the battle with Kuja was won, Vivi had already “stopped,” and had left behind several “children” who resembled him. His final words that are heard were, "Farewell. My memories will be part of the sky."
Perhaps the universe wasn't done with him yet. Perhaps he had something yet that still needed to be done. However the story goes, Vivi has found himself alive... alive and well somewhere far from home, not understanding his circumstances and not knowing what he should do next.

IV. AUTHOR
PLAYER ALIAS:: Littlest
OTHER CHARACTERS:: None.
ROLE-PLAYING EXPERIENCE:: 10+ years
HOW YOU FOUND US:: Forcibly dragged.
NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION:: I make no apologies.
ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE::
It started as darkness. Darkness and numbness. That's what it was like to be stopped. No sights. No sounds. Nor smells or feelings. Just the eternal, ethereal darkness. It made sense, that a Black Mage created from such a thing would return to such a thing. That didn't make it any less lonely or numb. The worst part about all of it was that there was no time. Vivi wasn't sure if it had been two hours or two hundred years.
Were his friends still there to remember him? Did his children still talk about him in loving memory? Had Zidane finally made it home yet?
He would never know. And the not knowing only made his mind wonder more things.
Vivi wondered and wondered, sensing and knowing nothing for certain for what could have been eons... floating in the sky.
But everything has an end. Even stopping is not forever. All the more poignant, the universe seemed to pick up the light that went unsullied even by death. For the first time since his demise, Vivi felt, saw, tasted and was consumed by a light. Something was drawing him forth from the nothing and was putting him back together into the something he had once been.
Some strange presence was putting Vivi back together from his floating and long dead state. Vivi suddenly felt a pain in his chest. Pain... it was an unwelcome and, now, new sensation... Vivi knew the sensation. He was trying to breathe... His lungs burned and his heart ached...As if he were drowning... Was life always this painful? Had he forgotten this pain?
Suddenly his eyes opened and he took a deep breath. He took several shallow, panicked gasps before he blinked and was able to focus. The sky... Above him... was the sky... and around him... was grass...He had fallen to the ground enough to know that sensation. Slowly he sat up. He didn't recognize this place... But...
Looking down, he acknowledged. He was whole again. He was no longer "stopped." ...But why? Deep in himself he heard a distant and echoing voice. 'Come...'
Having no other leads, Vivi stood and looked about. It seemed it was time for another adventure. This time... He would see it through to the end.
