The Warrior whipped his hand out, ramming it against the nearest tree in order to steady himself. His armor creaked as his knees resisted buckling. His feet shuffled in the grass, rustling the stale, steadily browning grass of the undergrowth in the forest. His head swimming, the nameless man used his free hand to remove his helmet and let it fall. He ran a gloved hand through his hair, tugged harshly, attempting to use the dull pain to ground himself back into reality.
Everything was swimming. His pale eyes glanced about, vision blurred, only making out washed colors of blue and green, red and brown. Around him were the muddled sounds of the forest, yet, not the same forest he had previously called his home. It was familiar and yet.
Yet.
This feeling was much more familiar.
A dry wretch left his throat. The Warrior shook his head, taking in a deep, shaky breath. His heart was racing, beating so hard in his chest, he was sure an enemy were to hear it thumping against his armor. Finally, he set his feet hard in the dirt, pushing himself off of the tree and drawing his sword. Instincts were returning, kicking in, and though his sight was was still clearing, the Warrior was on his guard. His ears listened hard for any approaching noise, whether it was the flap of wings, the stomp of feet, or even the buzz of the insects. Anything could be an enemy. Anything could strike, at any point, from any direction. While his body settled, his mind was racing.
He knew all too well what this feeling was. What it meant. But why? And how?
Finally, everything became clear, and ahead of him was everything he expected, and yet he didn’t. A vast, colorful forest, completely unrecognizable from anything he’d ever seen or known. The Warrior tightened the grip on his sword, his teeth grinding together as his heart thumped harder and harder, and dragged his spirit deep into his chest, sinking and sinking. Though he may have only appeared mildly annoyed, potentially confused on the outside, on the inside was a confused mess of emotion. Anxiety, confusion, anger, sadness. All names of emotions he’d learned, but hadn’t quite learned to emote.
“Where have I been brought?” His question quietly whispered to the wind, “And why?”
Were the cycles not ended? That world, the only one he’d known before his current home in Cornelia, flashed before his eyes. Cosmos, Chaos, the cycles, Garland. Garland. Had the fallen Knight been right, all along? Were they really caught in an endless cycle, the two of them, battling for eternity? The battle ground may change, the circumstances different each time, and yet fate tied them to such a destiny. To be ripped from his world again, born again in another, the thought was disturbing. Yet, even more frightening, he had no idea how many times this had happened. When it was revealed he’d been born again and again in the cycles, starting over, with no memory of what had happened … His breath hitched.
Was this the first time he’d seen this world? The fourth? The twentieth?
The Warrior had a thousand questions, but no answers. He released a deep sigh, relaxing for a moment to pick up his tossed helmet and set it back atop his head. Keeping his sword drawn and shield at the ready, he began to carefully move forward, using all of his senses to acquire as much information about the land around him as possible. He tried to not let the manic questions flying through his head distract him as he wandered through the vast, canopied landscape.
He was the Warrior of Light. That much he knew to be true, and after some thorough investigation of this land, perhaps the light would bring him to the answers he was seeking.
The last time he had set foot in these woods, he had fought and defeated a large tortoise-like beast with a Flower Girl and a young Mage. This time, however, an air of peace hung over Noel as he walked through the woods (as they were called. Giant Mushroom Field would have been a more fitting name, in his opinion). The large mushrooms towered overhead much like trees, and even housed birds and other small animals that roamed the lands. He was appreciative of people, of the wildlife, and of the overall feeling of life in general, having come from a world where he is literally the last person alive.
Despite his guilt over not finding Serah (or even ending up where he was supposed to begin with), he pressed onward, constantly learning more about the world, learning that this might not have been a fluke at his, or Lightning's end. As a matter of fact, it was known that an outside force was working to draw such warriors to this land, and Noel could just be a part of some powerful being's sick game. Either way, it was nice to know that he wasn't alone, nor would he have to worry about time caving in on itself (yet), and it was also nice to know that, somehow, arriving here had amplified his power to some extent (despite him not realizing that he had earned his entire array of skills and abilities over hundreds of years).
It would be about this point when his train of thought would derail, an armored man had seemed ill, and Noel became concerned. He hand't ever seen armor like this, even worn by Lightning, and he could only assume that this might be a warrior from another world. Approaching slowly, Noel cleared his throat an offered a greeting. "Hey, you okay there?" he asked, keeping his distance as he circled the armored man, leaning slightly to see his face, and to see if maybe this was some kind of trap set by a clever monster.
The Warrior was moving on nothing but will power and instinct. His body was heavy and felt ragged, as if his limbs had been tugged to the point of soreness. His head continued to swim with questions, his muscles tense with anxiety, and his stomach seemed unable to stop it’s constant flips and flops. Every once in awhile, his step would falter, and he’d stumble forward and have to catch himself again.
Never before had the sickness lasted so long, and never had it been so rough on his body. Each time he could actually recall falling through the time loop, being yanked out of one time and into another, or starting over, he’d recovered physically within a few minutes (Wait … How many times had that been, again?) . However, with each current step he took, the nameless man was feeling worse and worse.
As his vision swam once more, strength left his knees, and the Warrior fell forward, plunging his sword into the soft ground to catch himself. He heaved a few breaths, feeling a cold sweat drip down from his forehead, soaking into his white hair. He quickly attempted to blink the swirl of colors away and have his sight return to reality. First, he kept his cool gaze locked onto the earth, until each grain had become somewhat distinguishable. Slowly, he raised his head, seeing dark trunks and red and brown tree tops. No, mushroom tops.
He grimaced. How long had the tree-tops been mushroom caps?
The sounds of the woods began to return bit by bit as he stared upwards at the mushroom tops. Chirping. Buzzing. Rustling of grass.
A voice.
A voice.
Stunned. He was caught off guard. The Warrior grunted, and with amazing speed, ripped his sword out of the ground and pointed it towards the stranger in front of him, keeping a safe distance.
“Do not come any close---”
His eyes widened. The stranger was nothing but a smear of colors once more, coming in and out of focus. The only traits he’d managed to see was a friendly visage and brown hair. The nameless man lost his breath, coughing, and stumbled forward. He managed to catch himself once more, pressing his armored feet hard against the ground to keep himself upright. His right arm shook with the weight of the sword, yet he kept it pointed. Sweat rolled down his pale face, and his chest shook with ragged breaths.
Friend, foe, or innocent civilian, he couldn’t be sure. However, the Warrior wasn’t sure of anything at this point.
“Who are you?” The sickly Warrior asked openly, doing his best to keep his arm steady and vision clear. He couldn’t fall to an enemy in this state, he wouldn’t.

Wow was it possible for everything to hurt like this out of no where? Well must be because his body was aching all of a sudden and Sauber can't help but find himself stumbling a few steps forward all of the sudden, using the closest object to keep him steady. He groans as he grips his head, closing his eyes for a moment before blinking them slowly to catch himself and quickly recover. Whatever the bastard used to counter was definitely something he had to look after. "OI Al are you alright?" he calls out to the friend he brought with him to do this jump. His vision finally no longer blurry as he pushed himself off the tree....... that's not a tree.
Sauber steps back away as he looks at what he was leaning against, "A Mushroom?" he questions looking more and more confused before looking around again, "Al?" he questions again now more worried than before. This wasn't where he was, he shouldn't be here he was outside Cornelia's walls and in it's forest to set up small heist, though now he wasn't there anymore. Guilt began to pour over him again, they were going to think he has abandoned them again. Was something wrong? Could the crystals have this power? No... that didn't make sense, though one thing was for sure his magic was most definitely above him, what Sauber would give to have one of the mages here to explain this ridiculousness. He sighed.
Okay he could handle this, maybe the others were sent here as well? Maybe he could find them, they deal with that problem and everything will be fine! They took out Chaos after all what worse could there be? After taking the moment to look at the more positive side he smiled again composing himself, well attempt to. His body still felt wobbly and there was pounding going on in his head but eventually he'd recover.
He took off for now, examining his surroundings, making notes of things for later. Honestly how could this place not have been somewhere in their travel's before? They went all over the world, but there was never a place with giant mushrooms, seriously what the hell? Sauber continued on his feet, feeling as if he walked for hours when in reality he only been walking a little under one before a familiar voice rung in his ears. Ears twitched as he slowly walked to where he heard the familiar voice smiling at the sight of seeing someone familiar, though the other was new, and if the warrior had his sword raised against him maybe he should be cautious. But where was the fun in that?
"I'd do as he says kid," he calls out to the stranger as he leans against the mushroom to the oddly dressed man's left some distance away, but he felt confident in his speed should he be a threat. "This guy can be a pain, but damn Warrior what happened ya looked like one the fiends ate ya up and spat ya out"

The armored Warrior had reacted like Noel had guessed, much like a frightened animal (with wicked armor and a sharp sword) recoiling against a new, different being. Noel brought his hands up slowly, moving closer as he stopped at the distance the blade reached. "Hey, I'm someone lost, just like you, it seems. I was looking around for clues to what could have brought me he-" he was then interrupted by another voice, regarding the new man with familiarity, which brought relief to Noel's heart. If he had friends here, then maybe they knew what was going on.
He looked over to the new guy, noting his appearance and demeanor before letting his hands drop. "I'm just someone who's wanting to get back home. Probably like you guys... unless you're from around here?" he remembered the new one speak a word... fiends? It was rather specific, maybe it was a group of beasts from around here, or their world? Either way, the new guy did call the armored one Warrior. If that was his name, Noel thought, then someone wasn't awfully creative at his beginning. He stepped back a bit to give the Warrior room, and looked back to the new guy. "I'm Noel Kreiss. I'm looking for a friend, her name is Serah." he said, placing his hand on his chest as he introduced himself, glancing with concern at the Warrior.
The man before him continued to come in and out of focus. The longer he stood there, arm trembling with the weight of his armor, his sword, the more he was able to take in. This young man didn’t appear confrontational. He was hardly dressed the part for battle, not that such a thing mattered. Though it was hard to shake off the feelings of sickness and be completely sure, he didn’t immediately sense any inherent danger from this young man. Still though, until they had addressed one another, the Warrior didn’t want to let his guard down. What was the term his friends had used to describe him?
Gullible. That was it.
As the young man spoke, the light Warrior felt relief blossom into his heaving chest. The brown-haired man was nothing but a lost traveler, something the nameless man could relate to. Though, before the lost, young man could finish speaking, another voice drifted in.
A voice he recognized.
“Sauber?” The Warrior asked, breathless. As he glanced to the nearby mushroom-topped tree, he spotted the young thief, alive and well, doing what he did best -- giving him a hard time. Confusion and relief spread through him, and he finally allowed his knees to give out underneath his weight. The Warrior dropped, stabbing his sword into the soft soil once again, hands remaining on the hilt to support his weight. The sickness, the anxiety, it was beginning to wilt away, bit by bit. His vision seemed to have stabled, but his body still felt weak and strained. A final bead of sweat beaded it’s way from his white hair, matted underneath his helmet, down his face, dripping off of his chin. His chest still heaved for cool breaths, and his stomach was stuck in turmoil, for the time being.
“I apologize for my boorish behavior, Noel,” the Warrior responded once he was settled on the grassy, woods floor, “As you may have surmised, I am not well.”
He took another moment of silence, to allow the young man’s words to sink in. That he was lost, searching for a friend. Looking to get back home. That was familiar, a familiar phrase. During the cycles, the war between Cosmos and Chaos, that’s all the warriors of light wanted. To return home. To regain their memories of who they once were, before being pulled into the conflict. It was yet another painful jab into his gut, that whatever this world was, it was just like the one before it.
The Warrior motioned to his friend and fellow holder of the crystal to come closer. It didn’t immediately appear that Sauber was aware of what happened to them, and so it would be easier to kill two birds with one stone, as the saying went.
“I fear that we are not of this world either,” the nameless man explained, removing his infamous helmet from his head so that maybe it would breathe, and the annoying pounding would cease. He set it upon his sword, and rubbed the back of his gloved hand across his face.
“We, too, seem to have been summoned to this strange place alongside you, and I can only assume, many others.”
The Warrior grimaced, a barely noticeable frown upon his neutral visage. His brows furrowed, and he heaved a heavy sigh.
“I am, sadly, very familiar with this process.”
His cool blue eyes find Noel once more. The Warrior was able to keep the panic, the confusion at bay for the moment, but there was an opportunity, however small before him, to press for information.
“Have you any information, any clues as to how you arrived here, Noel?” He pressed, and though his authoritative voice was burdened by sickness, it still carried the inflection of a leader, of a man who had done this a thousand times before, “Anything? Either of you?”
[attr="class","psubtitlebc"]I'm King of Thieves, no simple crook
The thief's eyes couldn't help but narrow in concern when the Warrior fell to his knees. "Tch wheres a white mage when ya need them," he can't help but comment. Though it seemed that the other was more at ease than he was when he first arrived, so that was good, though he was obviously no worse for wear. "Serah? Sounds hot," he joked making light of the situation so far, he may have been in an unfamiliar area, but if there was at least one thing Sauber was, it was adaptive, and maybe finding humor in almost anything. "Sorry though can't say I've seen any lass around," he tells the stranger with a shrug, walking over as the Warrior motioned to him.
As the Warrior spoke about them 'not being of this world' Sauber couldn't help but look confusingly at his previous companion. His stare easily read a 'this is a joke,' maybe even to someone as clueless as him. Though if there was one thing he learned that was to voice his issues with the knight, but for now, sure lets hear the rest of this silliness. Though seeing the look on the knight's face, and considering his track record of his lack of lies what reason did he have to not believe him? "Okay, so lets say I believe ya about this whole other worlds thingy, why would this happen? We beat Garland- CHAOS EVEN!" he exclaimed the last part, "Why would we be called here?" So yeah if his expressions didn't make it clear enough that he had no clue what was going on hopefully his questions would make that clearer. Blue eyes looked to Noel so see if he would have any questions or answers to contribute.

Noel understood perfectly well what the Warrior was going through, despite his lack of any true understanding of the situation. It was comforting to find others who shared his plight, albeit from a different land, obviously. He already knew he was the only one from his world, technically, despite the distinct possibility (more like a deep hope) that maybe Serah ended up here as well. Maybe something happened to Pulse? There was no way to tell.
Noel blinked and looked over at Sauber at the comment that Serah sounded 'hot'. He gazed at the other man as he spoke, seeing what was undeniably the greatest contrast between two people he had ever seen. Warrior, as Sauber called him, seemed a polite man, almost regal in his stature and his words. Noel felt an unmistakable sense of strength and courage, despite his weakened, sickened state, which was something that comforted Noel greatly in a time like this. Sauber just flat out annoyed him, nearly to the point where he wanted to open his mouth and advise the guy to have some respect for someone he had never met. That was, until Warrior had spoken up again, addressing Noel and capturing his attention once more, asking him if he knew why they were here, the nature of their arrival. Noel thought for a moment. He was pretty sure that he was brought here by the mechanism meant to send him into the past when he last saw Lightning. Letting out a small, thoughtful hmm, Noel finally looked back up to the Warrior, having looked towards the ground in his thought.
"I'm honestly not sure." he said. "The circumstances of me coming here were, well, what seems to be an issue with whatever sorcery was supposed to send me to the past." he said. "A warrior entrusted me with finding her sister in the past, and working with her to save my home." he took a deep breath. "But, I ended up here. This place is called 'Zephon', and we're currently on a continent called 'Serentestra'. As for how you ended up here... unless you two are time travelers as well, I really couldn't tell you."
He had no idea what the other man was talking about, again, something about garland and a chaos or something, and another question as to why they would be 'called' here. Noel frowned slightly, but discarded the curiosity for the moment, looking back to Warrior.
"There's a decent sized town not too far from here. There are people there, and places to stay. If you guys follow me, I can at least take you to the Inn I'm staying at, but... even the residents of this land aren't one hundred percent sure what's going on." he said, letting out a slight sigh. Everyone he had asked about Pulse, his home, as well as names he had brought up that he figured someone might know had returned nothing but confusion or questions about his sanity. He had shrugged it off, knowing full well how sane he was. The question was, if the Crux brought him here, then did it bring these folks here, too? Burning questions, with no evidence of an answer ever showing itself.
Time travel? Now, that was something the Warrior was familiar with.
However, neither of the two had any information that was immediately relevant to their situation. From the sound of it, they had both appeared in this land at random, just as he himself had. In fact, Sauber seemed to be completely unaware that they were in a different world at all. It made since, the Warrior rationalized in his mind, as Sauber hadn’t been forced to travel through cycles as much as he himself had.
The nameless knight glanced to his confused friend, and with a sigh, he set his hand on the thief’s shoulder. He used Sauber as an anchor, pulling himself up and straightening himself out. His stomach still swam and his head still ached, but he would just have to deal with it for now. The sickness wasn’t near as bad as it had been when he first awoke, but it was still enough to keep his focus down, enough to have him still sway on his feet a tad. Gaining what balance he could, the Warrior removed his helm from the sword, and tied it to his waist. He pulled the sword from the ground as well, and returned it to it’s rightful place.
He looked to Sauber, his tired eyes making his point for him, “The crystals did not call us to this strange world, my friend. I fear there are much greater powers at work, beyond Garland and Chaos.”
Finally standing straight, his noble stance restored, the Warrior looked again to Noel. While the young man didn’t have much information to spare, he’d had enough to, at least, get them started on gathering. The name of this world, Zephon, and that they were on a mere continent of it. It reminded him of his arrival to Cornelia, finding that it was an open land, an entire world, when all he’d ever known were the twisted lands that the cycles had created.
“Sir Noel,” the Warrior addressed the fellow last traveler with respect, though he didn’t quite resemble a knight, “We will come along with you. I fear that no further revelations will be had in these woods.”
Out of instinct, he nudged Sauber along first, before the nameless knight took his own steps. He would always assure that his friends were moving along as well. He was sure Sauber still had questions, the thief always had a mouthful of things to say, but he was sure to give his friend a look of assurance, that he’d do anything he could for them. There was hesitation in his step, not from the situation, but from the shaking, sick feeling in his gut, in his mind. It felt as if he’d been swiped into the ground by Chaos’ hard strikes.
“I believe,” he began as he approached Noel, his voice strong, somehow carrying it’s regal and knowing tone, despite knowing nothing at all, “In this mysterious world, it would be best for lost men such as ourselves to become allies, and band together during this time of strife.”
He stopped just before reaching Noel, and held out his hand, friendly, open-palmed. Surely, Sauber would trust him on this, and they could continue onward to this settlement. The young man seemed friendly and harmless enough. A good man, thrown into the wrong place, searching for a friend.
you can technically have as many notes here as you want. go crazy.
I AM NOT A BAD MAN even though i do bad things
[attr="class","itsover"]
"Finding someone in the past?" Sauber couldn't help but repeat with disbelief, yeah sure they had done that before in their final battle with Chaos, though to have been sent back to save some young girl? It felt like a bit much to take in, but he made sure to remind himself that he was flexible and tried to accept this little story of his. However, if what the Warrior told him was true, and they were on a new world, just what kind of world this Noel come from where it seemed 'normal'? [break][break]
His thoughts were interrupted as he suddenly felt an hand on his shoulder interrupting his thoughts, Sauber making sure to stand strong for his friend so that he could hold hi\self up. Normally the thief would smirked at him and tell him what took him so long to put his hands on him, but he could see that his friend was still quite ill and he would rather have him 100% when he messed around. Besides considering the salutation his own thoughts were plaguing him a bit about home. Not that he'd allow himself to show it, not in front of his friend, and especially not in front of this stranger Sauber wasn't entirely sure they could trust yet or not. So he'll keep his cheerful posture, his wide smile, and his playful demeanor until he found a time and place where his more clinical side was needed. [break][break]
"I don't know Warrior, havin' a hard time picturing something more powerful than chaos," he joked with a shrug, even if there was some truth to it, "But I guess I could take yer world for it," he said with a wink to the other allowing himself to keep the situation as light as possible. After which he allowed himself to listen to the rest of what the other had to say about this world. Thankfully it was more than what they knew, though Sauber wouldn't allow himself to be clueless for too long. He felt the slight push to gesture him forward to follow along with Noel as he showed them the way to town but he kept his ground a bit, "Nu-uh Ah'm in back, ya looked like you've gone through a round with Chaos without the team, so I'll watch the rear. You just try not ta fall over," he said sternly with obvious concern in his voice, joking mostly aside.[break][break]
He watched as the warrior made his way to Noel, proposing that they should all team up with one another to which Sauber made an unsure face too. Sauber and the Warrior had their team already, and though they weren't here, nor were they sure if they arrived the thief would feel a hell of a lot better if it were them. Honestly it took some time for him to actually trust the other warriors the crystals choose for their adventure back home, and it was going to take some time for him to trust this oddly clothed fool. To Sauber it was always odd on how the Warrior could simply trust so easily, to him just way to naive to the world. Though he spent a long time with the knight, so for now he would semi trust his judgement, travel along side this Noel and keep an eye on him before they would separate. See if he was worthy of trust. [break][break]
"Yer really putting a lot of trust into this guy Warrior, but whatever if ya can trust him I guess I could too," He puts a small strain on that as if it would be the most inconvenient thing in the world, more as a joke than anything else. For what fun would this be if there were no game? "Though I'm curious, just how long have you been here kid?" he couldn't help but question, if the other hasn't been there long like they have how would he know the info on the land around them, unless there was some other plan? Sauber was probably being a bit to suspicious but with the other as naive as he was the thief didn't want to take much chance with the unknown. He was a man who set made his own luck, and he wasn't about to let it turn bad.
