❝ | No Mercy No Fealty No Faith No Desire No Death | ❞ |
The lone Knight walked along the pathway towards the mountain again. The Mountain where he arrived. They had called it Hotan, he remembered. He had gathered the information from the sniveling worms that had tried to rob him, his blade to the leader's throat as his amber eyes bore into him.
"Speak. Tell me of this area, or suffer my blade."
The man, blubbering and sobbing as he was, had divulged all the information he could give, telling him of all the local bandit camps, the villages, and of a blonde man traveling around. Yes, one of the Souls of Harmony, he was familiar with him. He pressed further about the off worlders, and the man knew nothing else, as they try to avoid them as prey. Another moment passed, as Garland pulled back his blade, his eyes narrowing.
"Away." he growled, as the man and his troupe had collected themselves and scurried off like the fools they were. He sighed lowly under his helmet, tilting his head back slightly as they left him in dust. An ever so slight grin played on his face, as faded, cracked memories of him doing the same in Corneria had played through. Was he a hero, then? Was he ever a hero? Or just a sword arm for the King? A man of justice worried not of such things, and lo, there was no point in worrying at all, when you were immortal. He was sure that he could perish, but as the swordsman Sephiroth had found out, during these cycles, these events, so to speak… Death was never permanent.
Neither was any end, he was afraid.
His endeavor to learn more of the world had garnered some interest from deep within. Intrigue was rare, as nothing surprised him or sparked care (other than his skirmish with the Fighter, before), but the lore was rich in this land. History… yes, he enjoyed learning of the past, and it was that shred of humanity that he refused to release. A vessel, he was, for no one and nothing, but in the end, he was still Garland, in essence. A man, yes, but also a monster. The Monster. He continued on his path, each step heavier than the rest, but continuing, unfeeling. His mission was unclear… for now.
But, soon, he will do what he has to.
No cost too great.
