Your reputation as a mercenary and the leader of the venerable Dragonblades precedes you! I have heard of your many exploits, and wish to beseech your aid!
I live in a village on the outskirts of the Reikin Woods, and a group of bandits have been giving us a hard time for months! Recently they have begun threatening to burn down our village if we do not offer them tribute! They have begun to be more and more aggressive with their threats, and recently I overheard one of them stating they intended to do it in a few days time if they did not offer enough! While it is possible these claims are unfounded, I cannot help but feel concerned for the safety of my fellow villagers and myself. By the time this letter reaches you, some time may have passed and time may be running out, if it has not already!
If you are able to help us drive the bandits away, I assure you that the villagers and I will be able to make it worth your while. No price is too great for our lives.
Please hurry!
Regards, Thaltor."
The money was less of a concern to Caius when he did receive the letter than the emergency nature of it. It was quite possible that someone could be hurt if he didn't act, and true to his nature he couldn't allow that if possible. Tracing the address given to where directions were given to a village indeed on the outskirts of the wood, Caius hoped that he would be able to find this Thaltor...
... But what he did find was a village in flames. The screaming could be heard for a mile, meaning there were still people alive... And that he had arrived just as the blaze had begun.
"Shit!" Caius would growl, motioning for Vordun to hold on tight as he would maneuver the chocobo he had rented toward the village to get there quickly... He needed to get the people within to safety, if there was anyone still alive.

Behind the forest trees was Keimusho, albeit a Keimusho who was just not awakening. Not from a simple slumber, but an induced slumber from being transported unto this world. "Wait a second... Forest trees? I thought I was just fighting Zenos in Rhalgr's Reach." Keimusho pulled out a map to try and determine his location. Of course, he failed to accomplish this. He was not in Hydaelyn, so any map of Hydaelyn would not assist him here. Yet, he still had yet to realize this. "This doesn't seem like anyplace on the map!" The Au Ra started thinking about what he saw in his vision before getting here: an unknown land. And, where was he? An unknown land. "Was it the power that the Scions mentioned? Was it the Echo that brought me here? Then if that is the case, why would the Kami send me here during such times of urgency?"
Keimusho knew not the location he was in and would've pondered on the matter further, if the air didn't reek of smoke. "Hmm.. something is burning." He climbed to the top of a tree to see a village in flames and a blond-haired individual riding a chocobo heading towards that same village. He knew not if their intentions were to save that village or whether they were a catalyst of that village's current predicament. He also didn't know if the individual saw him earlier or if they were too focused on heading to that village to notice. Either way, it was not in Keimusho's intentions to see a village burn to the ground. The ninja started hopping from tree to tree to bring himself closer to the village. He was nowhere near as fast as a chocobo so he would've arrived at the village relatively later than the individual he spotted.
As Caius would reach the village, with Vordun hanging on tight to the chocobo, he could hear screaming and crying from the villagers. Why hadn't they evacuated yet? There were way too many voices for a fire that had been set some time ago... He could see people fleeing their homes, others trying to stay behind to attempt to get others out of wreckages that had begun to burn. Just how long had this fire been burning? But Caius didn't consider that for very long. What mattered now was getting the people out so others could attempt to put out the flames.
"Vordun, find screams. Find door. Smash door" Caius would command the dragon, who responded more quickly to short commands. This would be a rare time where Caius and Vordun would need to split up, but the dragon was steadily gaining its independence and Caius wanted to encourage being able to work on their own if Vordun needed to. Caius meanwhile, would follow the sounds until he came to a home where its windows had burned and crashed down where the door was, leaving a resident trapped inside the burning house. Caius would draw his blade then, motioning for them to stand back before he would cast Blizzard, the shot hitting the debris and sending it flying across the room -- barely missing its occupant. Caius would make his way in, but as he did, more debris would fall and close off his exit. Letting out a growl and a few muffled curses, Caius would try to make his way toward the occupant, but more and more debris continued to fall from the ceiling. Caius would take a deep breath, keeping his calm as the former Kingsglaive would wait until the right moment before using the techniques he had learned to control his movement in the air, to pull himself across the ground in quick succession, timed just right to jerk himself to and fro without losing momentum in time to dodge the falling, burning wood.
Scooping up the occupant -- a woman in her mid-30s by the looks of her, Caius scanned the room for a way out. Finding a glass window covered by debris, Caius would hold out a hand and launch a Fira spell, destroying the debris, though also causing more damage to the wood around it. The impact would send more debris crashing down on them, and Caius -- reacting quickly -- would put up the glaive barrier over their heads. While it would impede his movements, it was their only chance of survival as it crashed on their heads.
Finding an opening from the volley of burning wood, Caius would take off at a run. Using his body to shield the civilian, he would smash through the glass of the window with his shoulder and fall through. Letting out a seethe, breaking glass doesn't tickle after all, Caius would put down the woman and urge her to run. Letting out a slew of quiet curses when he felt the blood trickling from his cheek, Caius would rush off toward the next house --
-- And would be forced to duck when a bullet would ring out and nearly impale him through the head.

Keimusho had finally reached the village and already knew what he could do to help alleviate the situation. It would be in his best interest to put out the flames rather than going house by house to save only a few of the villagers. It was simple, he would just need some water to put out the flames. Luckily for the village, the ninja had the tool necessary to bring this goal to fruition: Suiton. Since it was a combat ability it would do some damage to the homes, but it's a better alternative than allowing the homes to completely burn to ashes and become unsalvageable.
With this plan in mind, Keimusho turned his attention to one of the houses. The Au Ra took a moment to make sure that his attack did not make contact with any living being within the house. After he was sure of the positioning, the shinobi's hands would weave the mudra signs: Ten, Chi, then finally Jin. His hand then motions downward to the earth, which results in the activation of Suiton. A sizable portion of water geysered from the earth, specifically from underneath the house. The large sum of water pierced through the roof, but managed to put out the flames. He did not go in the house to free the residents because luckily they managed to flee under their own power.
This would allow the Au Ra to quickly shift his focus to another house engulfed in flames. He weaved a sign separate from the Three Mudra. This was Kassatsu, which ensured that he could cast Suiton once more. Again, he weaved the signs Ten, Chi, and Jin which casted Suiton. The water pierced through the roof of this home as well. In identical fashion the fires of the house were also extinguished.
He would've continued this trend further, until he heard a gunshot. "Damn, whomever orchestrated this fire must still maintain a presence in the area... Putting the fires out will all be for naught if the arsonist does not meet a fate of cold steel or alternatively subjected to a form of confinement.", the Au Ra said. It was evident that Keimusho had to shift his attention elsewhere, specifically to the location of the gunshot. Either finding who fire the shot or whom the bullet was meant for was ideal. He thought back to seeing the blond-haired individual riding the chocobo. Was it they whom fired the shot? There was only one way to find out: directly. The ninja would sprint towards the direction of the gunshot, determined to find whom or what fired it.
From the corner of his eye, Caius noticed some kind of water geyser sprouting and spraying. Good, at least people were beginning to help put out the fires. If Caius knew some sort of water magic, he would have done that - but unfortunately that was not in his element, no pun intended. He had Blizzard, but it wouldn't work fast enough to put out this much fire and it would do more harm than good if there were people in the house when he damaged it. He had to make due with what he had. But unfortunately, it seemed his progress was halted as a burly man with a bandana over his mouth would begin to reload his firearm.
"MOVE!" Caius growled as he would make a beeline down the street in hopes of finding any remaining stragglers, but a second gunshot would force Caius to jump back. "What the hell are you doing?!" Caius demanded answers from the shooter. "Those people are going to die!"
"That's the price of profit, boy!" The man barked as he would motion for several other men that wore similar bandanas to come out of the shadows. "Seems you've managed to piss off the wrong person, Mr. Dragonblade. There's a hefty price on your head, and I dare say that a few lives are worth cashing on it, no?"
Caius let out a low growl, promptly wanting to gut the man and his friends. A bounty? He didn't care about a bounty, but the fact was these people were in the way of his saving lives. Caius would attempt to charge and dart past them, but they would begin to get in formation to block him. That was when Vordun would come charging in, the dragon - even if he were the size of an oversized dog - had quite the bite as he clamped onto the leg of one of the bandits. They let out a resounding scream in pain as the appearance of the dragon scrambled their numbers, allowing Caius to leap into the air and use the Warp Strike to move past them. As Caius ran, Vordun would let go and follow as the bandits would give chase.
Caius knew he needed to lose his pursuers, and get back to work... He tried to hear anymore cries, and when he got one, he would change his track. Perhaps he could lose them in one of the burning houses and help someone at the same time...

Keimusho managed to track down the shooter due to the second gunshot's indication, though by the time he got there there were some rather suspicious individuals running. Seeing that they had bandanas covering their face, it would be safe to assume that they were the perpetrators because they sure as hell weren't shinobi. Naturally, the ninja decided to give chase as it seemed that they are too occupied to notice. They way that they ran indicated that they were more likely chasing someone rather than trying to flee the scene. "What could they be chasing?", the ninja thought.
That question would soon be answered as he looked a little bit ahead of the bandits. It was the blond-haired individual he saw earlier and some sort of flying creature? Regardless of what it was the Au Ra was not going to let this goose chase happen for too much longer. Thinking it would be best not to dispatch the bandits, at least not if he could help it. They possibly could explain their motives or they could at least explain where in the seven hells was this location. Keimusho thought of using Hyoton to freeze the bandits in place, but the flames, a result of their arson would thaw them out rather quickly.
Instead, the ninja opted to toss a smoke bomb in the vicinity of the bandits. The sudden smoke forced the bandits to cease their chase, and instead stand inside the smoke in great confusion. Before the smoke dissipated the ninja forcefully pulled one of the bandits out of the smoke's vicinity. This bandit in particular reached for his weapon until Keimusho's blade was nearing close to his neck. Well before the bandit had any chance to draw his weapon, Keimusho had drawn his kodachi, the Enma-dachi.
"Drop it.", the ninja whispered in his ear with conviction, a command that the bandit had no choice but to comply to. At this time the ninja's smoke bomb had finally dissipated and when they turned they would find the ninja had their ally in a compromised situation. Before the bandits could act, Keimusho would issue a statement towards the remain bandits. "I would urge you all to drop your weapons and cease any further action or your buddy here may not make it out of your arsonous antics alive. But of course, you would also share the same fate, depending on your next move. It's your choice." Would the bandits take the bait and surrender or would Keimusho have to dispatch them? Seeing that there was a fire going around it more or less seemed that it would have to be the latter.
The bandits would stop when the ninja would throw the smoke bomb and take charge of one of their number. They would point their weapons at the ninja, but he had one of them hostage. They seemed to consider a moment just leaving him, but appeared to be unsure if they would be able to do so and get away to get to their prey. But their prey was also getting away...
"We just want the bounty" One of them pointed out. "The blonde fella's got a massive price on his head and we lured him here in hopes of collecting."
Another bandit would glare at the other, as if irritated that they pretty much admitted to setting the fire. Two others would suddenly make a break for it though, while the others kept their weapons trained on the ninja in hopes of firing either if he tried to kill the one he had, or dropped his guard to go after the others.
Caius meanwhile, had noticed that the number of bandits after him had decreased by a wide margin. While he didn't know why, he hoped he could lose the rest in the burning houses. Continuing to follow the cries for help, Caius would call out to Vordun when they reached the home. "Vordun, fireball!" Caius called to Vordun who would launch a fireball at the mass of rubble that had been blocking the passage of a family. While it was a risk, it blew the debris to bits and Caius would immediately jump in, getting in front of the family and pulling up the Glaive Barrier again to shield them. Once the coast was clear, Caius would motion for them to run. But he could see the escaped bandits beginning to catch up to him... Drawing his blade, he would consider his options...

So this was about a bounty? Quite a petty reason to burn down a village to lure out a single man. Despite was the bounty was about, trying to fulfill it by burning down a village was not the right course of action, but that was something bandits rarely understood. "Bounty? I don't give a damn about some bounty. You don't set a village aflame just to make a petty profit!", said Keimusho in response to the bandit. Keimusho was slightly angered by the bandit's statement not that you could see because his face was concealed underneath his own mask. Seeing that some of the bandits had their guns aimed at him, the Au Ra figured that he'd have to take action soon. This assumption was further confirmed by the two bandits that started to run away.
"Your choice.", the ninja said. Keimusho turned his sword in his hand and knocked the bandit he held hostage out with the hilt of the weapon. He then released the bandit from his grasp who now laid unconscious on the ground. At that moment the remaining bandits started firing their guns towards the ninja. Keimusho spun his body clockwise as the he activated Shade Shift. The shadows created by the ability nullified the bullets that connected with Keimusho's body as if they were nothing. Ignoring the bandits firing at him at the moment, he turned his attention to the bandits attempting to flee. Left with no choice he started to weaved the mudra signs Chi then Ten. Keimusho aimed his breath at the running bandits and activated Katon. The fireball made its ways towards both the bandits and burned them both to a crisp in an instant.
"You forced my hand. I'm giving you one last chance to drop your weapons and surrender. Or do you wish to end up like your friends over there?", Keimusho said to the bandits whilst gesturing towards their newly deceased friends.
Caius, after thinking up a plan, had quickly swapped to the two gundaggers to deal with the bandits chasing after him. "Vordun, I need you to scout ahead" Caius commanded to the dragon who would dash ahead as Caius turned and aimed toward the bandits, before lowering his sights as he found the right spot to disable them...
But he never got the chance as the bandits would burst into flames, and in the midst of screaming in agony, they were quickly reduced to ash. Caius' eyes widened as he watched them burn, then peered toward the source of it. It seemed that some figure had taken umbrage with the bandits and had them held up. Caius didn't approve of killing them when the man was quite clearly in control of the situation, and his eyes narrowed at that. He'd been about to disable them with non-lethal shots, but unfortunately in a situation like this, Caius knew that he couldn't be picky and would head off after Vordun.
The bandits were horrified by the quick brutality of their aggressor and would quickly open fire. After a few shots, they would scatter, hoping to escape their pursuer by splitting up. Some darted their way past houses and attempted to make their way out of town quickly, and would do so if he didn't take them down as well, while a sparse few hoped to gain one last ditch at their prey. Caius had just finished his rounds as the villagers had begun finishing putting out the fires when he would suddenly raise one of the blades that made up Isp and fired when a figure would lunge at him. Hitting them in the leg, the bandit went down. Quickly reloading, Caius brought the firearms up again when the final two would make their move, stopping them in their tracks.
"Where are the rest of your friends?" Caius spoke up, clicking the triggers to indicate he wouldn't hesitate to shoot if needed.
"Either ran from the village or they're dead" One answered. "This guy started killing them off."
Caius would peer toward where he'd seen those bandits be burnt down... Was the figure still there?

"Splitting up huh? That's probably the best course of action for you. However if you must flee, I shall not allow all of you to.", Keimusho thought. Currently he had one of the bandits unconscious to his feet, so he did not want to go on a slaughter via the bandits. So he would instead disable a few for the time being. He was going to toss daggers in their legs to disable, but then the ninja noticed that the flames of the village were almost put out. This would allow Keimusho to try a different course of actions that he considered earlier. Keimusho's hands weaved the signs Chi followed by Jin. The ninja kept his aim towards a pair of fleeing bandits and activated Hyoton.
The icy winds from the ninjutsu technique froze the two bandits in place. The rest would manage to flee. The bind caused via the ice would not last too long so Keimusho went after the frozen bodies and proceeded to knock the bandits out, by striking the back of their heads with hilt of his kodachi. He proceeds to drag their bodies back where he left the other unconscious bandits. "Hmm I'll need a way to restrain them for when they regain consciousness. Having to continuously knock them unconscious won't prove to be productive at all.", said the ninja. Though it was not like Keimusho had rope on his person so all he could do at this time was bide his time, a virtue taught to him courtesy of his shinobi training.
Though it was evident that he need not wait long as there was another individual who had issues with these bandits, the blond-haired man with a so called bounty on his head. With the bandits fleeing and the villagers putting out the small remainder of flames, that would be the individual that Keimusho would most likely encounter next, but the question was if the man was going to try and look for him because surely it was odd that the number of bandits that were chasing him suddenly lessened.
