Paine appeared to be content with his answers, which was good. When the pair had finished eating, they would rise from the table. Caius would give her a curt nod and motion for her to follow him out of the inn. Flicking a few more leftovers to Vordun, the creature would snap it all up before coming out from under the table. His wingspan would jet out completely, revealing him for the creature he actually was as the dragon would follow behind them. Caius would lead Paine to the stables, where they would buy a pair of mounts. If she was running low on gil, Caius would pay her fare, it was no big deal.
Caius found himself curious, as they rode across the countryside on the back of a pair of chocobo, what Paine's capabilities were as a combatant. While she seemed practical enough, anyone could seem a certain way until they were on the field of battle. The field of battle was where everything changed, after all. Eventually, they came to the village that Caius had described. Evening had set in, as they would drop their mounts at the stables there.
The village was a small little hamlet, with a good 15 buildings at the most. All residing on a rising hill that stretched just about as far as Caius' eyes could see. People were milling about, doing laundry, building equipment, baking goods... Everything seemed quite normal. But Caius still didn't seem relaxed at all. Instead, he actually looked more concerned than he did before they came in. As they walked up the hill and took in the sights around them, Caius turned to Paine and would speak in a low voice.
"They're staring at us" He remarked quietly. "Sizing us up. It's very likely they consider us a threat. I don't like this."
He would motion toward the top of the hill. "The lad gave me the address of his family... We had best check in, just in case something has happened."
