"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
Lumina couldn't help but chuckle dryly at first, then full blown youthful giggle fit. Honestly, she hadn't really been feeling herself much as of late. With but a simple bit of humour and daresay a...'compliment', she felt rather refreshed. "Here I am laughing about it but I used to be able to look a bit older still. No wonder no one believes we're the older sisters, well it's fine. In Zephon, as it is, this paradox makes sense to people around us. Serah's a teacher, pinning for her hero to come to join us, in time. We're just the little angels on either of her shoulders." to which, well one of the two "twins" was most certainly a little devil, dealer's choice as to which.
After she had explained her circumstances, Lumina was pleasantly surprised how well Caius had understood. He admitted it wasn't exactly the same but she shook her head. "No situation can really be a hundred percent match but it's more than close enough for our needs. My heart reaches out to you, that whole situation...I understand. My world wasn't in a good state by the time I gained autonomy. I'm more surprised at just how similar our circumstances are." perhaps their worlds were in a similar system, not so far from one another. This really made her think and she felt better, probably because she wasn't alone.
"As for Claire being...Claire, I've honestly grown to appreciate her antics. That part of her that urged you to be here, is the part of us that I represent. Seeing it missing, stripped away and discarded...being that part was was cast aside..." Lumina shook her head once more.
"Claire is Claire, it's nice to see. Even if I get swept up in her antics more than I should. I much prefer this than the alternative." to which she laughed but it was a nervous one, for she'd started to feel a lot like that alternative she warned against. A cruel twist of fate or an ironic one, Lumina wasn't sure which. So she'd put it aside as she had questions to ask, ones that required wisdom from someone that had a bit more life experience inspite of their age difference.
"...Doesn't that freedom of choice make you feel lost, at all? After just surviving and following orders, not having that guidance or purpose. For me, it feels like being put in a sandbox and told to make something. Make...what, exactly?" hopefully hearing some answers would relieve the anxiety that built up and set her in some direction, particularly one of her own making.

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
No doubt there would be hijinks having the twins in and out of the Rest in the future. The degree of said hijinks would likely vary but what mattered, was the amount of people congregating to protect and prevent Claire, from going down that dark road. One in which the victim of such was right here, with a slew of complicated questions to answer. To Lumina's credit, she decided to think these through carefully before conveying her thoughts.
"Simply put, the risks involve my proximity to death. In my world, Chaos is a manifestation of emotion and will, because it is a collection of the many hearts and souls, waiting to be reborn. Using the power the way I have, has side effects." Lumina admitted, her gaze becoming contemplative as she cupped her chin.
"Impulsive behaviour is a symptom. The strongest emotions are the ones that rise to the surface and colour your thoughts. When Claire gets up to mischief, it's...more tame at times because she is ultimately rational. When I get up to mischief, it's sometimes sporadic, compulsive. At least, that's how it used to be." Lumina had observed that although her memory was tampered, there were differences in the nature of her power, in its 'reach' as she would call it.
This limited reach, staved off a peculiar aspect of her chaotic ways. "When I helped people back in my dying world, it was often more a detriment than help. People forgave it as the antics of a pre-teen, since I always meant well and never did anything malicious. It just felt like there was something random that would go off, I refuse to call it bad luck because I don't want to think of myself as a jinx." granted, a smaller degree of that happened in the earlier days of her arrival and it was deliberately weaponized in the case of her dealings with Sonora.
"That doesn't happen anymore, thankfully. Now when I help people, it's exactly as I intend it to be. I can be someone who can be relied upon, without the weight of the world on my shoulders." Lumina confessed and closed her eyes for a moment to relax. When she opened them, she was resolute. For the topic she wanted to broach was not an easy one to discuss.
"Serah once gave a theory that my heart might not be broken. At least, not anymore but I thought she was just being optimistic at the time. Recently, I can see things that I would have had to ask Mog to tell me. I've had memory problems since I arrived in Zephon but I've been regaining memories as I lived here. I saw my...'death', as it were; when my heart rejoined with my other half. I know that I don't exist in Serah's timeline anymore but people still remember me. So, I think you're right...there's no threat of reuniting anymore." Lumina confessed but while there was relief to those words, there was something underlying her words.
"I'm free." yet the thought of it, the responsibility and all that entailed, scared her. Going along with Claire's plans and watching her new life here, was easy. Just as how sometimes with twins, there was an outspoken twin and a quiet twin. The later, tended to go along with the outspoken one. Sometimes that lead to trouble but other times, there was an equilibrium to it all.
"Say, Caius? Did you have cars in your world? If not, imagine a carriage and the Coachmen that drives it. I lived my life with someone else driving that carriage. One day, a God changed that, giving me autonomy. Now, in Zephon, I'm living with the consequences of that. It was easy to get by just by focusing on straight forward objectives. Now that it's mostly peaceful, where do I begin to be...myself, I guess?"

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
Family was a bond that nothing could break and it even expanded a little too. With a planned expansion for one more, when the Gods felt it time. Some of that planning was kept secret, even as Lumina teased Serah. The house had to be remodeled a bit before they moved and while Lumina's early plan was for Lightning to be an occupant, it still worked out when they arrived. Serah's room, for example, was quite large, equivalent to a master bedroom. Far larger than a single person needed. Claire had asked Lumina why that was but wisely, when the twins were alone. Lumina's response was, "Family planning." and she had a twinkle in her eyes.
"If we're going to bring up Snow's fashion sense..." Lumina giggled nervously, moving a hand to the back of her neck. "We, Lightning and I...didn't think much of it, sorry. If it helps though, in the centuries after, when he stopped being more talk than action, he really shaped up. Ah but he was so depressed, poor thing." she did feel bad for him and it's not like she hadn't put some effort in to help him...in her own, chaotic way, mind.
Whilst she had unknowingly caused some pain, Lumina was happy but there were fears, doubts, some hesitancy remaining. "Maybe laid back isn't the right word for it, more like she's going all out but the drive is different. Unrestrained, enjoying every second of it. Yep, she's doing so well, I'm proud." she nodded her agreement, feeling the conclusion was accurate.
On the topic of Leo, she nodded that it was right but her thoughts as to her worries became more clear. "Something else worries me too, besides him being hurt. What if he decides to earnestly start pursuing me? I feel...I feel safer, being in Claire's shadow, at times. That might just be my way of coping but it's fun seeing this alternate path. Besides, I'm so old...I don't really see him like that. He's more like, hmm...he reminds me of Hope, when we're alone." perhaps old habits just died hard. In spite of her time alone in Zephon and being independent, the moment she could give up some of that independence, she happily went along with it. Not unlike the dynamic of some twins in fact.
"You're also right, five centuries is a hard thing to contemplate sometimes and you were there with me for it all. Ah, I guess, to Light, we're not really 5XX. More like...15 and 21. On a good day, Light might think I have the maturity of an eighteen year old, maybe~" musing on this made her smile and sigh, a curious case of defeat, despite reality.
As the conversation continued to a related matter, Lumina's inability to be honest pertaining to feelings was ousted in a grand display. By which, she was red as a tomato. "N-no, it's...N-not that kind of a name. I-it just sounds a little different when he says it. It's great, please, call me Clarity~" as Lumina protested she was waving her hands back and forth, in the futile hope that she'd be misunderstood.
This was but the first of being put on the proverbial back peddle. Strangely, the situation felt nostalgic, as if Serah had put her in a situation where she absolutely didn't feel like a big sister. Well or at the very least, she felt busted by her little sister. Someone...someone...ah it was difficult to think!
"B-being well toned like Lightning limits your wardrobe options. I like looking more feminine, even if I'm shorter~!" Lumina childishly protested. Perhaps this would give her some deja vu as Claire implied being happy how she was at the time too. That could change somewhat if Claire felt it'd make her a better mage (and little did either of them know, a better Dragon Blade member). On the other hand, it did prove Serah's point. That she was her own person, she just didn't seem to like the spotlight of it all. A shyness that was perhaps more pronounced because it was discarded so long ago. Still, Lumina liked where they intersected and spending time with her family, made her appreciate it more than she had in her earlier days in Zephon. Where the idea of being anything like Lightning invoked a childish rebellion streak.
There was room for some introspection on all that but now was not the time. "I could tell you some of the obvious choices but I propose an alternative. Have you considered planning your wedding? Maybe do something with your room? I'm sure you've grasped the hidden meaning behind it by now~" she gave a very innocent smile, the kind that had all kinds of hidden meaning.
Thus she sat back, listening intently, contemplating the loss of memories. She could relate, she was starting to forget certain things but compared to Serah, it wasn't remotely far gone. A man that helped save Lightning, well, the instance of Lightning that became a fleeting memory. Was anyone left to remember besides Serah? Claire's appearance was a bit like wiping the slate in some ways. Perhaps Lumina didn't feel as worried because, while Serah did find the two of them to be distinct individuals...Lumina felt they were more one as of late. Merely a different expression, a different conscious driver in the seat. To that end, briefly she felt a searing pain, causing her to hold her head for a moment. Everything became white and she saw something, a memory...
"S-sorry to interrupt, Serah...Did you speak to a reporter, back home? In the New World, I mean..." as she struggled with this, eyes partially closed, memories began to fill her. Memories of unity, memories of the final battle, the feeling of being able to watch the world move on. After all, she'd done her part and the two-fold scheme to conspire against God worked wonders. In seeing those memories, a sense of resignation and desire to just live life, Lumina slowly relaxed and felt reassured by Serah's words.
"I guess it's your turn, of course I'll help where I can but that's all." Lumina stated confidently in kind. Better to be an army of us, than an army of one. "Just make sure you don't come back to me in pieces, okay? I'd rather not regret being benched." there was that worrying again, even though the sigh that accompanied it was much lighter.
"Fireworks...Is that all? You know, this is a job for your big sis. Ah, how does Claire call us, ahem, Little BIG sis, right. I seldom talk about my business dealings in Sonora. I've got an associate out there, he handles my affairs, kind of like a butler." she'd admit in a slightly blaise tone, even waving her left hand aside.
"They should have what we need, if you want it to be more authentic, compared to the Torensten version. That one uses magic crystals in combination with gunpowder to set certain patterns. Sonora's are more like we remember em, closer to Wish Granting fireworks." As she contemplated this, her eyebrows furrowed for a moment.
"I do have a slight problem out there, I really don't even want to check it out. Do you know when your free from teaching duty, Miss Hero~? I'd love to send you in my stead. Think of it like...a mission, yeah~?" that would get Serah excited surely but first, wardrobe. Heroes needed wardrobes, teachers needed wardrobes and fiancées needed them most of all! Ah, did she forget her role in pursuit of heroism, Lumina wondered.
"Serah, that clothing advice is for when you're off work, with your friends. It's the look you see a girlfriend in, not your teacher! Remember what I said about how Claire sees us? The students see us the same way! So, for them, you need to dress more maturely. Otherwise, they won't think of you as their teacher, more like a Student-Teacher. Remember how that works?" hopefully Serah would understand, though now Lumina was showing her strong maternal instinct, as Claire would say and that also embarrassed Lumina. At least she wasn't a tomato, just a light blossom. In fact, when Serah did a surprise temperature check shortly after, she was only a little warm, no fever but it did surprise and confuse her.
Why wouldn't Lumina want to dress more maturely, Serah was having problems being considered a teacher by the seniors. Imagine the age reduction Lumina endured this whole time. The pranks weren't always for fun, stress relief was a thing!!! Well, she'd set that thinking aside, since Serah had a question. Given how serious she looked, it must have been important but then she heard the nickname.
"NO!" Lumina answered, precisely as Lightning would in this instance. In fact, she wished Mog was here to back her up. "Ahem, what I mean to say is, you don't need a nickname. You've got your established identity as Miss. Farron in the classroom, your identity as being Claire's Big sister among her peers. Hmm, have you considered joining one of the guilds as a part time member? Get some hero experience around Torensten too?" this was too obvious a distraction from the nickname talk, Lumina practically had a large bead of sweat hanging along her right temple.

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
"From anything that would disturb her slumber." Lumina replied without hesitation. Of course, there was much more to that story, something she noted to explain later on as it was fairly heavy. "Ah, well...there is an explanation for that." she'd admit, hesitant but happy that Serah was out there, holding her own. After their talk the other day, Lumina was a bit worried.
The playful banter between them was much appreciated. Lumina had a twinkle in her eye at the mention that a bit more company (of the chaotic variety) wouldn't hill him. Her expression implied she'd put that to the test eventually, laced with a whimsical smile. Lumina was the self-proclaimed good twin, the "Angel" as it were. What could she possibly come up with in the future, that was anyone's guess. Serah was probably right to call them Twin Devils, if tact weren't a thing.
Perhaps as proof of being the Angel, Claire looked immediately concerned when Caius admitted his loneliness. That prodding and assessment got her into trouble often, causing her to look into Caius eyes deeply. "Don't worry, you're in good hands." she remarked off hand. Claire was not the type to let anyone suffer in silence. She was rather empathetic, helped with the assessments she did; even if it wasn't used for helping people in earnest, like it used to be. No, that wasn't true, if she took her own actions into account, she helped plenty...though it was often detrimental (chaos was a difficult thing to control).
As for the prospect of triplets, the fact even Caius admitted he had his hands full with two of them, made her laugh in earnest. "Well, you did invite me. Be happy that I'm the Angel of the two of us." she declared with a sweet and endearing smile. For now, their conversation went into complexities and Lumina awaited a new round of questions.
"That is the question, isn't it? Fortunately, Mog provided me that answer. The souls of the living were brought to a new world, where they could be reborn. Serah as you can guess, was reborn in that new world. I didn't know that the Serah from that time was here on Zephon prior to our reunion. So, when I say I was protecting Serah, I was safekeeping her heart and soul from any incident that would happen while I was here." clarifying this point was important but there was more Lumina wanted to shed light on.
"There's something I should mention since you asked about the two halves coming back together. Claire's heart is fine, since it's unsplit. I'm the only vulnerable one, as all I have is a fragment of my heart. Maybe you're wondering, why would someone tear their heart into pieces? My other self, Lightning as she calls herself; wanted to grow up fast, to be strong, to get rid of anything that could make her weak. Her selfishness, her loneliness, her doubt...the parts that make us human." she confessed, her expression was sad.
"There was a Claire before the one you know and cherish. I can only guess that one, Lightning; had her heart restored before they went to the new world. Serah has never given me an answer about that but I can intuit it. In her timeline, I don't exist anymore. In Claire's timeline, I'm unborn, because we're still whole. Yet somehow, here in Zephon, I exist."

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
"At the risk of confusing you even more, I had bought both in order to protect Serah." Lumina confessed in kind, though she didn't seem to elaborate further. If asked she certainly would but otherwise, knowing he had questions, she reckoned she'd touch upon the complexity of the Farron household eventually.
Upon receiving an invitation to the Rest, she smirked before replying, "...One Farron bringing chaos isn't enough for you, huh?" In regards to loneliness, a subject Lumina embodied, she had a passing remark, "...It's a real killer." for loneliness was not something Lumina even liked to joke about and that was saying something. "I'll take you up on your invitation, believe it or not, I know a fair bit about your band of 'merry men'. That's the benefit of living here longer than my sisters." she had a playful but knowing tone, even as her focus soon fell onto Mog.
The moogle reacted quite immediately to the topic of being offered food or drink, "Accept hand outs from my rival? Never, kupo! …Unless I can win the meal that is, kupo." there was a moment of tense contemplation, the stares of two rivals ready to throw down in a moment's notice. The edge Caius felt earlier heightened for just a moment, before the tension was cut like a hot knife through butter.
"Let's see you earn your keep then, Mog. Gather the ingredients, make sure the kitchen remains clean." stern as her words were, Mog did a salute and was off to kitchen to prepare. The dynamic was different, really revealing who the "older Twin" was. Still, Mog had been manipulated without realizing it, as it allowed for Lumina to spend time, observer free with Caius.
With Mog not present to hear Caius remark about Lumina's clothes, she giggled a bit. "Thanks." Admittedly, Lumina wasn't surprised when Caius mentioned he was expecting mischief either. "She must really like you and she must also be really concerned about you, too. Instead of mischief, she decided to take this fairly seriously. Which means she must know you've got some kind of weakness, social anxiety, perhaps?" Lumina's insight and thus bad habit of attempting to read people leaked out. She'd become used to assessing situations in order to protect herself and Serah after all. There were a lot of adults they had to rely on in a world where adults weren't very reliable. A harsh assessment, made as a young adult who had pulled off challenging tasks from a young age. Now she didn't see the world so cynically.
In fact, once Caius did ask his questions, Lumina's expression softened. "Let's have a seat first, this is a long story." she'd suggest and in this instance, she did sound just like Claire, except without the youthful mischief. Turning on her heel, she guided Caius from entryway into the living room. Caius' assessment on how decorated it the home was not only rung true but now if he got a closer look, the quality of the décor spoke volumes. The couch alone, that of a L-section setup, was quite expensive and it's make was more modern, so it wasn't from Torensten.
"We're from a world that was at the whims of the gods. Every step of the way, my other half has fought against them, even acting as the Knight for our world's Goddess of Death. Her powers tend to put sensitive people on alert though." she explained after sitting down and crossing her legs.
"The conundrum then is that we're siblings from different timelines. Claire is from an early part in our lives, before she ever split her heart. Well, to be precise, she is from the moment where she decided she would split her heart. The forces that be, gods of Zephon, summoned her just in time. Otherwise, there would potentially be another Claire here on Zephon, we'd be talking about triplets. I...don't think you could handle that much." a playful jab, as she was starting to get an idea of the dynamics of Claire and Caius' relationship.
"She's past the worst of it but I'm keeping an eye out all the same. As for myself, I'm the part of an adult Claire Farron that was split away when she was fifteen. The reason I'm able to talk with you, as my own person, is because of whims of my world's Creator, Bhunivelze. He had planned to turn me into the new Goddess of Death but to ensure I'd do his bidding, he stripped a part of me, the part that was protecting Serah's soul while we remained in Crystal Sleep. Plunged into the depths of Chaos, I used its power to take on physical form, acting as a living tomb to protect Serah's heart and soul." she paused momentarily, giving Caius time to digest the sheer audacity of her claims.
"You're probably wondering, how is Serah here now then? Timelines. Serah is from a time further into our lives. A time where we defeated Bunivelze. You can imagine my shock, even now I wonder... Is Serah's heart and soul, still inside me? Silly I know but we're all merely instances of ourselves in Zephon, what we do with life here, is up to us."

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
Lumina wasn't sure what she was expecting from all this. There was something to be said about second hand information after all. What captivated her interest was the respect and admiration Claire had for Caius. When he called her Miss, she started to understand a bit better. "Almost correct, Serah and Claire moved in more recently, I guess. This is actually one of two homes that I have, my second is in Provo. I also have a condo in Sonora but I don't ever go there, so it's more like a guest house." she explained, trying to be modest in the face of overwhelming business success.
It all started when she got out of Sonora. Smuggling Diamond Dust was a very difficult thing. It caused her to be separated from...a friend. One she felt sad trying to recall but it was thanks to his efforts that she escaped and smuggled it out. After that, she met with certain clientel who wanted to get their hands on the restricted good that Sonora coveted. It effectively became an invest for more investments, for you had to spend money to make money. It started with getting an airship and permission to sell goods from Torensten to Provo, as well as Provo to Torensten. Effectively opening up a major trading route that she then had to pay a crew to secure that route.
"They've settled in quite well, it's nice to have company after being alone. Oh, right, can I get you anything?" she gestures with her left hand. Mog who took up the rear, had moved on inside and went to make himself comfortable. Acting as the silent observer who would fill Claire in on the happenings.
"I have to hand it to you, your fashion sense is good. I'm starting to reconsider dressing so casually. Claire kept me in the dark mostly but she strongly insisted this was a casual meeting and that you had questions for me. To be honest, I half expected one of her classmates at the door." for even Lumina wasn't above receiving Claire's mischief but well, Lumina had a time advantage over young Claire. Trying to trick the Master was folly.

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
Setting aside the peculiars of the first date, the second date proceeded as planned. This one was a lot more laid back, given it was just the opportunity for Caius to meet the other Farron in the household. The one who was paying the bills and seemingly elusive until now. Unlike last time, when Mog came to get Caius, he was his ordinary self. Oh but he brought a water bottle for the sake of convenience.
"Another day, another date, kupo." he'd declare after knocking on the door. "No rush today, Claire's got an exam and Serah's teaching. Lumina will be waiting for you, she's cleared her schedule, kupo." after which he'd float back a bit, before performing the usual inspection (per Claire's order). The atmosphere this time truly was different and if Caius was willing to engage in banter, Mog was happy to reply.
Upon arriving at the Farron house, it felt like some déja vu was happening. Why was it, Caius was always faced with a door before meeting his dates? The difference though, was that this was the front door and he would not be traversing through empty hallways with signs of reconstruction everywhere. "So, are you nervous, kupo?" even if Caius was, Mog wasn't going to give much of a reprieve. As if giving a signal, he'd knock on the door and then float to the side.
The door would open and between the door frame was Lumina, who looked much more casual in attire. Wearing a black sleeveless halter top, with simple white shorts and house slippers, was the alleged 'twin' sister. If one strictly looked at the face, yes, the two were identical. The difference was in the hair style and the air about them. Lumina with her hair down and properly straightened, looked more mature and akin to how one would imagine the Farron sisters Mother would look. She looked rather apologetic as she noted Caius attire.
"Come on in, I'm guessing Claire didn't warn you much." slowly moving to the side, she'd gesture for the mercenary to come inside. Mog followed suit and once they were both inside she'd close the door behind them. When Lumina spoke, her voice sounded older than Claire but it wasn't by much. Lumina actually needed to put in effort to speak in this tone, something she seemed to practice to aid in business.
"It's nice that we're finally getting to meet, I'm Lumina Farron." she notes before offering her right hand for a handshake.

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
"You're right but it's always been that way. We've had a lot of time to lean on one another, centuries, really." Lumina confessed, feeling the tears stall as her mood improved. She wouldn't wipe away the tears just yet, she wanted the reminder of these emotions to stay awhile longer. It proved that she existed, then and most importantly, now in Zephon. A world where they had a new life together. Lumina had only started to treat Zephon as a new life recently, instead of being stranded here. However, if she was asked why the change of heart? All she could feel was a tight pain in her chest. A longing and she couldn't explain why but she knew that, she wanted to be here.
Distracted by these thoughts, she couldn't help but feel playfully challenged when Serah put a hand on her shoulder. Certainly, Light would take it as a challenge, the goal being to pull the wool over Serah's eyes, at least once. Yeah, the "twins" would try, in the future maybe but Zephon had changed them both in ways profound and simple. On the other hand, even if there were changes...differences, really. The core of who they were, wasn't so difference. Just different expressions, from different points in time or so Lumina felt. Though perhaps, the longer they were in Zephon, the more they'd become their own people. That thought somewhat frightened Lumina but somewhat excited her too. After all, they both had their own approach when it came to Snow.
Hence, Lumina rolled her eyes and effortlessly put on a Lightning imitation, "He passed, barely." it's not as if she hadn't tormented him for centuries to be sure. Something she'd not inform Serah of, given the circumstances. What was a secret between siblings-in-law, hmm? Such thoughts would be stowed away, as Serah was working out the information provided about Claire's preferences. They'd typically been focused on Serah's relationship concerns and needs, so this was a change of pace.
"Now you're catching on~" to think certain disputes could have been avoided with this added, "third party" foresight. "As for if she'd admit it, no, probably not. It's not that she's embarrassed or something silly like that~ Light is in the prime of her life now. Do you remember how she was when she decided she'd be trying out for the Guardian Corps? It's similar just more laid back since the stress of money and securing your future isn't on her mind." this fact made Lumina very happy in truth. Seeing her with a proper work-life balance, remembering the people important to her.
Alas, the thought was cut short because she picked up on something unsurprising. Even Serah wanted to make sure whomever dated her sister was 'just right'. Hence, Lumina had a very knowing look on her face, even as the subject shifted to Leo and the dilemma of switching. "Twin devils, I guess." it amused her but soon her expression softened as Serah provided Leo's point of view in all this.
She hadn't really considered how he felt until now. Largely, she was doing the switch to enjoy the atmosphere of being in school. The effect was different for Lumina, who had gone through this once already. Sure, she was happy that Claire was getting the proper experience but this was for her. It wasn't going to make up for the decisions made, with the people Lightning grew up with, after all. Now that she was considering it, she had an apologetic expression.
"Then we should tell him, I'm just worried that it might hurt him, I guess. There's no gentle way to tell someone that the person they like...isn't who they think. Also, I'm over five hundred years old sis..." it was a point she'd been making throughout her time on Zephon. For Lumina was treated as an eternal child and while it was fun to get away with mischief, for matters of doing business, it really impeded her. It was to the point where she had a proper assistance, who needed to handle certain "official matters". To which, her assistant was merely presenting an adult face.
When Serah playfully brought up the nickname, she did perk up but looked a bit uncertain as to how she felt with Serah using it. "When Leo uses it, I feel...unique, I guess." Zephon had changed her perspective on life and what it meant to exist. Strangely, she knew that this view had changed because of someone but when she furrowed her brows in thought, the memory only left her feeling a sense of longing. Lumina also knew that she didn't really want to leave Zephon, for it was here that her life had taken on new meaning.
"Mmm, when you use that nickname, I actually feel like the age I look. It's different but fun." she'd conclude before nodding with a smile. Just getting accustomed to being her own person and not a fragment, so when Serah brought up how Light was, later in life, Lumina shook her head. "Now, now. This is a different Claire, remember. The one you're thinking about, is me." the concept of a person that they knew, being a unique 'instance', as opposed to a continuous entity, was challenging but that did seem to be how Zephon operated.
Not that Lumina blamed Serah, this was a time of adjustment, changes, and so forth. Even if it did amuse her to see the shoe on the other foot, Lumina felt it was her place in this equation to keep a balance. "Sounds like you need some time to yourself, Serah. You won't be able to make the right judgement if you don't take care of yourself, you know~?" it was a hint, as per her style of problem solving. For now she was beginning to assess the needs of her sister.
Lumina noted how she clung on to the Blazefire saber's hilt, her words and a thought occurred to her. "I know this should be obvious but you really do love Lightning, huh?" Lumina leaned forward, propping herself up by her elbows resting along her thighs. Cutely, her hands craddled her chin as she observed Serah.
"I think it's clear now that what happens here in Zephon, means a lot more than we realize. The memories you had of Lightning, here are what you're trying to protect, not the memories you made back home. As for being the protector now... This is just the next part of your journey of independence, of coming into your own person. I won't stop you, if that's the role you desire. Just know that you don't have to do it alone. Claire might not be the Lightning that raised you but I am. Oh and don't overdo it, okay~?"
Serah made the pledge, as Lumina expected she would, so she nodded her approval. It was likely all she wanted of Lightning if Lumina thought about it, rationally. Mom had said they should work together as a family, to not do things alone. Sure it was...centuries late but in lieu of her complete self, she'd learn this lesson. Oh and there was plenty of sisterly team work to be had, between coming up with a nice outfit for Serah to wear as a teacher, to helping her fend off the crushes that were developing. Hmm, judging by her desire to give detention, maybe she'd spare the students identities...
"While it's true you do have a fiancé, Snow isn't here right now and in terms of age... You do look about the age of the senior students. It is a university, hmm, reminds me of the one I wanted to send you to, in some ways." admittedly, Lumina didn't have the heart to tell Serah that Snow might never be here, that she should keep an open mind. Probably because she believed in the big ol' lug, at least a little. Zephon could use his heroics and not his brooding. Besides, it was okay to wait a while, absence made the heart grow fonder after all.
"I'd hope Lebreau would dress appropriately around students, while being engaged too." she quipped, playfully. Perhaps that was why, when Serah called her Clarity, she 'groaned' but it wasn't remotely serious.
"Yes, yes, I'll help you. Honestly, you'll need a few. It would help to consider what the faculty likes to wear since they're the natives and we're the 'Outlanders' but the school seems pretty liberal, provided a certain aesthetic and cleanliness is met. So, let's get you seven outfits, with interchangeable parts. Then we need to go shopping for clothes to suit living here, permanently. You'd think this coastal heat would be nostalgic but it feels dreadful. Maybe I should dress more maturely too?" to Serah's surprise, Lumina might just be serious about that last part.
If only Lumina and Serah knew, that Claire had set Lumina up on a date, that she'd really need these clothes. Really, who was the chaotic one out of the two?

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
Lumina wished the peace would last but there were way too many wild cards around Zephon for that. As for Serah's love of teaching and more so, getting to teach Light, she just gave her sister a knowing look. "She really is doing well, the Gods have been merciful. I'm enjoying seeing it with my own eyes, ah...instead of through a unified set of eyes, of course." to that, she sounded relieved and happy; a glimpse of the usual Lumina.
It could hardly hold up now that she was trying to resist tears. Being scooped up in one fell swoop, left her flustered and embarrassed at first. It gave her time to think, to which she remembered that she too had been so focused on Light enjoying life and more so, the remainder of her childhood. That Lumina had forgotten about Serah, the actual little sister that she was made to protect. How lonely it must feel for her all this time? That was why Lumina ultimately began to cry. She held onto her sister and allowed herself to be vulnerable in the moment. Towards the end, she was smiling as she cried, gently patting Serah's back. This was just what she needed and while she'd still be moody for awhile, at least she wasn't pent up like an overcharged storm cloud.
"Aha~ Your signals in class was proof enough that you knew." Lumina admitted, feeling slightly proud, slightly embarrassed. What she didn't tell Serah, was that she had faked Mog being around for the days she felt Light would REALLY be in trouble. See, Light had taken to going out on adventures, fighting weaker mob monsters. She always went with the supervision of Lumina's crew, since it helped them transport stock but those days, Lumina was way too worried. So she put on the best act she could to make sure no suspicion was aroused. Luck probably played a role in Light always coming out fine. Really, Light largely used switching to stay home and avoid...Leo. Destressing by means of pranks only worked so often, after all. So staying home, studying, getting homework done, lounging in impunity...Yep, that's what Light was up to.
In regards to the switch confusing Leo and the desire to talk with him, Lumina took a moment to really think about it. "Honestly, Light is pretty dense when it comes to boys. So if you're worried she might like him back, don't be. He's not her type. Actually, Light's type is someone like Hope. Dad was too easy going and came across as irresponsible to Light. Mom, while she did what she could, enabled Dad, so she didn't think of her as very responsible either. The kind of reliability and strength she wants, is just someone who can show their feelings and genuinely be there for her. Not make her feel weaker nor acknowledge her own strength." this rare glimpse of insight was from her insights into Lightning and Hope's relationship on the Ark, among other points in time.
"I guess, if you're going to talk to him, then you'd be revealing the person he might like, isn't Claire but her twin, huh? I wonder how he'd handle that. Most people wouldn't want to get in-between twin sisters, especially if one is the devil and the other is an angel. He is sweet, I guess. I was so exhausted one time that he carried me for awhile after school. Eventually I protested that I should walk because someone would see us. That's what led to holding hands for the rest of the way." Lumina shrugged after admitting this but then she stiffened up.
"Oh, I nearly forgot. When we're alone, he calls me Clarity. I wonder if he already knows...? Maybe you should talk to him then." she looked genuinely thoughtful and surprised, though perhaps like Light, she was a tad dense in accepting what this all meant. So when Serah 'approved' their switching, provided Light did her homework, Lumina burst into a giggle fit. A proper, Lumina style one at that.
"Don't worry, Ms. Farron, Light always does her homework even when we switch. She's competing remember? She has a system of ethics she follows, even if it's...chaotic~" to which she laughed all the more. "Too prideful to let me do her homework, t-trust me~" now she was wheezing, that was the funniest thing she heard all day. It would mean nothing to Light if Lumina helped her even a little bit. She really was meant to sit there, look pretty and take notes if need be. More so, since she was the nice one, to help boost her reputation in the classes where her teachers were at their wits end.
Keeping things on a lighter note, she listened to Serah propose something peculiar. Sure, she noticed said gunblade along her lower back but the idea of using it? It perked Lumina up enough to get her thinking. She crossed her legs, then her arms and did her best Lightning impression. "Do you even know what it means to wield that blade?" Lumina began and while her voice was softer on account of age, by golly it was as close to the real thing as they were getting.
"Invoke my name, I am Lightning." Lumina projected her voice well enough. "That's the inscription given to that Blazefire Saber, it's special even among the Sanctum Force, just shows how special she was. Given the circumstances, I think she knows you're ready to try but don't overdo it, okay~?" her voice reverted to her usual demeanor now, a simple wink added before putting the clipboard aside.
"...Now, about the clothes. Well, you need to have something that shows you're a teacher. Right now, you're more like a senior University student, who is someone's fianceé; rather than a mature adult they can trust in. I bet you haven't realized the senior's glances either, have you?" to which Lumina frowned with some concern. Her eyes clearly sizing her sister up as she imagined what clothes to get. Nothing modern, this was Torensten and worse, it was HOT, so...
"A loose petticoat, a tie, could be a bow-tie. A strapless gown or a sleeveless vest to wear under it. Skirts seem to just run in the family, so a skirt that's appropriate length could compliment it. Make sure we're not exposing the midriff, you're not out with NORA after all, you're with young adolescents." she let out a faint hum.
"...It's probably okay to show off your legs a bit. It's just too hot for tights and such. Maybe some ankle socks and boots for rainy days. Sandals for the hot days and going out to the port or beach. Colour scheme, well...some red, some white maybe a mage's cloak or shawl? Traditional like Light's or revised for Torensten weather?" needless to say, Serah's plan to distract or rather, engage Lumina has yielded a veritable amount of fruit.

"A Moment of Clarity"
"I can't put my finger on it..."
Looking to Serah, she tried to feign a smile, only for it to come off apologetic instead. "Business is...well, surprisingly. I was worried after the Kraken incident. It's like the different cities of Zephon attract danger and destruction, just for existing. I'm still reeling from the Murder at the manor, hence why I haven't been back there in awhile. I bought some ships recently, not my airships but actual water faring ones. We've been doing really well, honestly you wouldn't even have to work if you wanted." she admitted before her eyes downcast to the clipboard, looking it over and nodding.
Admittedly, she was stalling because the inevitable question about how she was feeling, was soon asked. To which she placed her right hand against her forehead and sighed. "I want to cry...but I just...can't." a hard thing to confess but a puzzling one. She was the vulernability, so it should have been easy to breakdown into tears for something so important. Instead, it seemed her loneliness prevailed above all else. However, there was one moment where she didn't feel alone.
"Ah um...what do you know about Leo? Lately Light and I have been switching and he tends to approach her, often. Well, that is to say, he approaches me, often. It's like he can sense my loneliness and just rushes over like Prince Charming. From what the other classmates tell me, he's supposed to be her rival. He treats her pretty delicately, I'm not sure if I was supposed to hold his hand this one time. Nobody saw though, so I guess all is well." she confessed, pondering what exactly the truth of that relationship was. The other students were either amicable, neutral, or annoyed due to her antics.
The teachers were exasperated but surprisingly, when she switched with Light, even the teachers felt there was something different. Lonely, demure, delicate...a wallflower. If Lumina was in good spirits, she could have easily substituted for Claire without leaving any hint of difference. For her 'twin' was very much how she desired her to be, how she herself had portrayed herself in the past. It really felt that the two had switched, now she was the grumpy one. Even Serah experienced some of it, which she felt bad for after the fact. Today at least, she'd be sure to do better.
