[attr="class","sixShpost"]Though he had spent quite a bit of time in the city of Sonoro (despite it's unwelcoming attitude to those like him), Noel hadn't been against venturing a little further afield. There had been plenty for him to do in the city, particularly when it came to the various criminal gangs that called that place home. A name kept popping up again and again when he had taken down various marks. 'Original Sin' and 'Sikorsky'. [break][break] While he didn't have much intel on either, items on those had been forced to take out gave him enough clues to know that none of these guys were up to any good. He wasn't stupid though. He knew he could take on neither on his own, not as a group, but if he could keep just a few at a time of the streets of Sonora (and the world at large), then that would give honest people a fighting chance! [break][break] For now though, he had found himself in Provo, having quickly learned that while vigilantism was somewhat rewarding (though even now he still did not exactly enjoy having to kill people), it didn't exactly pay. For that, he too would need to find some honest work, and where better than the centre of commerce? Especially in a district with such an appropriate name as Wanted Avenue? He had heard that there was an Adventurers Guild of sorts here too, but judging by the rubble, there might not be much of that place left. [break][break] Unperturbed, he quickly found the directory of listed buildings and jobs that could be going. He didn't trust himself as a bodyguard, having already failed to protect even those who had meant the most to him, but hunting monsters or pest control? Sure, no problem! At least, so long as they made reasonably well. He hadn't eaten in a while, and should probably at least try and make enough to buy some food. Unless, he managed to hunt something for himself by then. [break][break] Standing in front of the sign bearing the directory, he wondered if maybe he should get on to that first, before finding himself a job or two. He had been born in a world where simply buying food wasn't a luxury, and even during those centuries in Nova Chrysalia, it was much better to simply find his own meals. Living in hiding from the Order in Luxerion meant that he couldn't exactly pop to the local cafe, but that shouldn't be a problem here, if he felt so inclined. Unless, not yet. No one had discovered his identity in Sonora, as far as he knew, and he intended to keep it that way.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
He'd grown rather fond of his red sweater. Especially with it being a pleasant cool; nothing too hot, nothing too cold, and the striking colors helped him stand out. He'd been coming here more and more to get some work. He needed the gil, naturally. Ever since he'd passed up what was surely a sizable bounty for Sephiroth, curse his conscience, he'd had to grind at it harder. To be honest, ever since the Rising Stones had been wrecked, more business had been returning to the Notice Board. Which was bad. He needed to get it repaired and get it back up and running. More work meant more gil which meant he could repair the place faster and get back on his feet. Especially seeing as there was a wing of the Dragonblades here. Well, they were more fledgling here, but he still knew he was under the gun for time.
He wasn't always the only person at the Notice Board going for work, too. Adventurers, both new and seasoned would often check for jobs as well. Which meant that he usually had to get up pretty early to get the best of it. Today was not one of those early days, and it showed. Namely, there was already someone there, looking at jobs. Loose cloth clothing, with sashes and bands. A unique toy on him. Seriously, what the hell was that? He'd never seen anything like it before. It also meant that this guy either had some kind of heirloom from his ma or pa, or maybe he was one of the more seasoned adventurers? Bless and splash his luck, eh? Maybe he could figure something out, maybe get in on the job. Maybe if he was really lucky, he'd have a new recruit he could throw out there to help him get some gil.
Which was why Noel quickly found himself with Alex nearby behind him. His face was straight as a board for a moment, unmoving, before his eyes glanced downwards at the young man and he smiled. Be nice, and all that. "I don't think I've seen you before." He remarked, pointing a singular finger, "So IIIIIII, am guessing you're new here." Granted, so was he. He'd only been here a year. Compared to some of the other outworlders, he was a baby. But well, as long as he was here, he might as well enjoy it, right? After all, if the Source was going to be destroyed, it probably already was! Ah, not, really the best thing to think about, as the concern at that thought knotted in his chest before he banished it away.
[attr="class","sixShpost"]As he perused the various jobs, Noel could feel someone approach from behind. It was a hunters instinct, one further honed by Caius so that he should never get caught out in battle. The good that had done him, he thought bitterly as he turned his head just enough to get a look behind him. A blonde male approached, perhaps a little older than he was (at least physically), but didn't seem to have any hostile intent. Probably just wanted to check out the board too, as he realised that it wasn't exactly an exclusive privilege.
[break][break]
Nothing suggested that he was in any kind of trouble right now, so he allowed the blonde male to approach. There was something about the look of him that reminded him of Snow, and he resisted the urge to clench his first at the thought of the traitorous...
[break][break]
The man spoke to him directly, noting that he hadn't seen him around here before. Made sense, seeing as he had never been here before.
[break][break]
"Good guess", he confirmed, keeping him in his sights as he stopped behind him. He really wasn't in the mood for a random conversation right now, but then there was no use in deliberately pushing people away either. Especially if it meant a way of gathering information about this place.
[break][break]
"Sure, I'm new here. Got to make gil somehow, and this seemed a good place as any", he then added, gesturing to the board that was now behind him, as he turned to properly face the new comer. "Is that why you're here too?", he then asked. He certainly had the look of an adventurer about him, but then he maybe wasn't the best at reading people. Nor was he much of a conversationalist, or at least he hoped that was all this guy had in mind. He wasn't about to be bullied into leaving, that was for sure!

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
Oh, he had good instincts. Knew enough about being looked at that, even in a decently busy square, he knew to turn and find out who it was. Alex approved. That was a good sign. Then at least if he was new to all this he... probably wouldn't get himself killed quickly. Maybe he'd have someone on board who could stay out of trouble and not get shot at by guards and require Alex to step in and--ah, but that was another bitter affair that may have been best left untouched. "Yup. Gotta get things fixed somehow. Things are just a bit of a mess." He confessed, stretching a bit in the Spring air. A mess was understating it. It hadn't gotten that much worse, but it hadn't gotten that much better, either. He really needed a stroke of good fortune or something, and well, with Alex, that was just something that was never going to happen, not with him.
Slipping around the young man with... they kind of had similar hair now that he thought about it. His was blonde to the other guy's brown, though. Regardless, he reached over, taking a piece of paper for himself as he read the description. "I run an Adventurer's Guild here in town. It helps pay the bills." Really, when he stopped to think about it, the fact that the Rising Stones still got any jobs at all was kind of a miracle in and of itself. Most people would have taken the place for abandoned. But perhaps some had pity in this town, and he still got jobs because of it. Maybe they were just hoping he'd fix the damn place and it wouldn't be as much of an eyesore on the town. Everyone else had gotten back up and running, and he was the only one lagging behind.
His amber eyes scanned the paper over. Just a simple hunt and punt, got it. Find the monster, kill it, come back and get the gil. He could do that. But that could be later, as he looked back up to stare at the newcomer. "But if you're new here, guess that makes me your tour guide." Which, well, if they were going to be doing things within the vicinity of each other, well, "Oh, right, names." He remarked as he crumpled the paper into his pocket. He'd kind of forgotten. "Alexander Sorel, Adventurer." Definitely going to leave the Warrior of Light bit out of that. That was a dusty road he had no intention of going down, and Caius was free to walk it all he liked with Cassandra following him down it. Once was enough.
[attr="class","sixShpost"]Things? He had seen the rubble as he had made his way through, and also heard that there should be an adventurers guild somewhere around here. He didn't know the whole story about what had happened here, but he'd heard bits and pieces as he had made his way through Provo. Sounded like this guy knew a lot more than he did, maybe even most of the others he'd overheard talking about the mess! [break][break] "I take it you what happened here?", he asked, genuinely curious. Not that had anything to do with him, nor did it make any difference either, he supposed. So long as there were still jobs going out, he could make a bit of an income in between his 'work' in Sonora. Of course, he wasn't adverse to some 'honest work' either, but better to stick at what you were good at, right? [break][break] Sure enough, the other male confirmed that he ran the Adventurers Guild in town, or what was left of it anyway. He cocked his head as the he continued, stepping aside only slightly as he tore a piece of paper off the notice board. That's right, if he kept hanging around here, there wouldn't be anything left for him to take! He was letting himself get distracted, and he narrowed his eyes as he turned his attention back to the remaining jobs. A thought then occurred to him. [break][break] "So, is this like a members only thing? I mean are the jobs here Adventurers Guild only or something?", he asked, once again turning to face the newcomer. There was no point wasting his time on a job he wasn't going to get paid for, and he'd probably made enough enemies in Sonora! [break][break] Oh, so now he wanted names? Who said he needed a tour guide? He supposed it was only sensible to take the opportunity to learn more about the place, seeing as he would likely be a fairly regular visitor, but he wasn't sure about letting people get in too close. Saying that, he had spent enough time alone, as in a couple of centuries, at least, and he had promised Lightning that he would 'stop living in the shadows! [break][break] "Noel Kreiss, hunter", he introduced himself with a nod. It wasn't a lie, as he did still hunt monsters when needed. It was just that wasn't the only thing he hunted anymore.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
Ah, he was trying to be the stern, stoic type, huh. Alex looked him over once, and decided that the guy was just... not a match for it. Like at all. Colorful cloth even with the black that he wore, that really strange looking sword... knife... what the hell was that thing? He'd seen a lot of strange weapons but never anything like that as he eyed it. ... He kinda wanted one, if he was being honest. But he brought his attention back up to Noel's face. The babyface. That was really what went poorly with the stoic type. The guy was prettier than most girls he knew. He shook his head. "No, but it's a crapshoot otherwise. You don't know who has it, the adventurer doesn't know where or who to go to. I provide a middle man that organizes everything. A bureaucrat with competitive prices, even with monster hunting. Maximum kill for minimum bill." ... That was a good tagline. He should steal it before Caius thought of it.
"Huh, Noel." Alex spoke the name aloud, seeing how it felt on his tongue. Eh, it felt fine. Now at least he had a name to the boy. Still, parents must have had their hopes pinned on a daughter, he figured. Or maybe they thought he was a daughter and just never figured it out. Honestly, Alex noticed, looking at Noel, that's just not fair. Either he was young or he had aged absurdly well. Alex took a moment to raise a finger, tugging at the lines near his eyes before sighing in subtle envy. "But if you're a hunter? You're heavensent as far as I'm concerned. I've been doing most of the hunting jobs around here, and it'll be nice to take a breather for a bit." Alex still had to make money. He wasn't some immortal who could feed off aether alone like an Ascian.
Placing his hands on his hips, he looked around. "But to start, you're in the town square, as you've probably guessed. This is where people do a lot of their business. Believe it or not, this place was only repaired recently. A few months ago, two assholes and a guy I know got into a fight and wrecked the place. And my shop." His brow furrowed as he looked at the wreckage of his abode, an eye sore amongst the lovely town. His eyes trailed once again back to Noel. "... Unrelated, you wouldn't happen to know a guy with spiky blonde hair and a huge sword, would you? He and I need to have a little dialogue." He hadn't forgotten, he wouldn't forget. Oh, he would make that blonde homewrecker pay. In gil and in beatings.
[attr="class","sixShpost"]Noel noticed as the other's gaze fell onto his weapon, currently in its sheath and combined into what many would perceive as one object. Even he didn't know it's actual origins, just that when he had been gifted it to train with Caius (not to mention hunting), it had taken a little getting used to. Of course, mastering both forms his blades could take, as well as activating the sliding mechanism to switch between the two, now came as second nature! So it should really, seeing as he'd had over five centuries of practise! [break][break] Right, so this guy was more like the middle man then, a bureaucratic middle man with a heck of a tagline! Did he use that one often? Whatever the case, he needed the gil (or whatever they used as currency in this world), and it sounded as if they really needed an experienced hunter! He didn't know about 'heaven sent', but if it gave this guy and apparently much needed break. [break][break] "Not to brag, but I did take down a behemoth single handedly, once!", he informed him with something of a cocky grin. Yes, that was a flash of the Noel from before he accidently destroyed the world. Centuries of carrying the burden, that guilt, and now he felt freer than he ever had! Perhaps he would never really be the same, but the renewed sense of hope he had found after his encounter with Lightning and the spirit of his Yeul, but he could try! [break][break] With that, the tour began, the newly introduced Alexander informing of their current location. He was already aware that this must have been the town square, nor had he missed the signs of recent reconstruction. So that was what had happened huh? [break][break] "Must have been a hell of a fight", he spoke thoughtfully as he then asked him if he had seen someone in particularly. A guy with spiky hair and a huge sword huh? [break[[break] "Can't say I have. Doesn't sound like I would miss him if I did though!", he responded, before something then occurred to him. "By the way, I can track people down too, if there's a bounty or something", he then added. He was all for making people pay (preferably figuratively), but he didn't hunt people down without a good reason.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
He took down a Behemoth. By himself. Alexander was skeptical. Oh, he knew it wasn't impossible. He'd done it. But taking one of those down all by yourself could still be a tall order. Especially for that gods damned meteor when you finally laid them low. Still, he'd give Noel the benefit of the doubt on this because he really needed members. ... Not that he also couldn't poke that just a little. "Oh, good! There have been reports of a Behemoth running around, lately." He wasn't lying. One had been spotted, and it had originally been one he'd grabbed and had been holding on to until he could deal with it. But... well, if Noel could really deal with it, then it would make one hell of an introduction job to the Rising Stones. Just have to land that sale.
Of course, however, he didn't see the blonde homewrecker. Alex could only sigh and pinch the bridge of his nose. "Yeah, I didn't expect you to." No one did. It was like this guy didn't even exist. That the person that had attacked Sephiroth had been some phantom or something. Either that or he died. That was also possible, now that he thought about it. Only took him several months to come to that possibility. But he did follow up with a nod. "I missed it. I was having lunch, but from what I understand, they tossed each other around like ragdolls before there was one final explosion." Really, what the fuck had happened between those parties that it warranted that violent of a reaction, in the middle of a town square. The way the homewrecker instigated it, it was almost like Sephiroth had killed his mom or his girlfriend or something horrible.
That being said, his eyes did perk up at Noel's offer. "You can track people?" Now that had him interested. Maybe he could find this blonde homewrecker once and for all. Or maybe he could be a decent person, have Noel look for missing people. That was an option, too. Alex looked at the ruins of his shop, motioning towards it. "It's not exactly cozy, but maybe we should head inside, the tracking bit has me interested." Though, maybe the homewrecker should be his fight. But it was just so tempting. ... If he could afford Noel, anyway. He inwardly grimaced at his small amount of funds.
[attr="class","sixShpost"]So there had been reports of a behemoth roaming the area lately? Noel was as sceptical of that as Alexander was about his apparent slaying of one single handedly. He didn't need to say it, Noel could see it in his eyes. No matter though, as he didn't feel the need to prove himself to anyone. What was the point when he clearly couldn't make much of a difference anyway? [break][break] "Great, point me to him!", he responded with a mirthful tone, not taking the 'sighting' seriously. If it were indeed the truth, he would much rather someone had his back though. Really, it had been uncharacteristically reckless of his to take on the hulking beast alone anyway, but who else was there left who could help? Besides, he wanted something special for Yeul's birthday, and it was rare that behemoth meat was on the menu! [break][break] When the conversation turned back to the mysterious blonde, the other male informed him that he had expected his response. He seemed rather interested in his ability to track people down, something he'd learned not only as a hunter but as the Shadow Hunter, taking out those who caused others misery. It had been his hope that he could atone for the sin of what he had caused to happen to the world, but would there be any atonement for that, the ultimate sin? [break][break] "Good thing you were out on lunch then", he commented on his reason for not being at the scene when the battle and subsequent damage took place. It did make him wonder what had caused the explosions though. Some kind of magic, or something else? [break][break] "Alright", he agreed to accompany the blonde into what was left of the place known as The Rising Stones. It seemed as though maybe his skills could come in handy here after all, though he was already starting to make a name for himself in Sonora's underworld. Nothing wrong with honest work, though!

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
The place was, well, a disaster. It almost looked worse inside than it did outside, and that in itself was a rather impressive feat. The doors had been very obviously nailed back on, as if something had blown them apart, and the shelf behind the main desk had a silvery grey tape around part of it, as if it had been an emergency fix. Alex motioned to one of the still standing tables with a simple wooden chair. "Go on, take a seat, I'll see if I can't dig something out for us." At least it had food and drink? That was something that was going for it, at the very least. Yeah, this place had a lot of work to do before it was going to be completely up and running. Nothing short of a miracle or a sudden influx of help, was going to get this place back up and running.
Vaulting himself over the main desk that faced the door, he rummaged beneath it for a moment before he reappeared. He brought out a book. A rather impressively large one that could even be called a doorstopper, if the mood ever struck him. Flopping the tome down in front of Noel, however, he opened only the front, flipping a single page before he handed it over to Noel. Heading back, he grabbed some ink and a quill. "Please sign here real quick." He remarked, pointing to an empty line right underneath Prompto Argentum. The most recent signature. But, hey, it at least made the place look busier, right? Couldn't have been all that bad. It wouldn't be too long, at least, until Alex returned... with dried meat, cheese, and a cheap wine.
This place had seen better days.
He had a piece of paper with him, too. "So you're interested in the Behemoth or the tracking?" He'd inquired. Wait, was the Behemoth not a joke? What? "I suppose the tracking more than the Behemoth." He shook his head. "Anyway, to make the long and short of it, I'm looking for the blonde homewrecker that did," He gestured vaguely around them, a sign that he meant more the damage caused than anything. "This. I uh, I need to have a little dialogue with him. About vandalism. And how it's wrong." Said dialogue may involve beatings. And heated words. But mostly beatings.
