II. PERSONA
Determined is a word you will find that best describes the commander of the Turks. When someone gives him a task, no matter how little it is, he gets it done. Sometimes it's done quickly, and sometimes it takes longer as to get it done the right way. He knows how to analyze the situation and do what's best to achieve the outcome, and he tries to do so without anyone on the team getting hurt. Depending on the situation and the orders, he tries to make sure no one at all gets hurt.
Don't let that fool you though. He may seem like he doesn't care about anyone, but that is not the case. He cares a great deal about the people he works with, and some of the people he works for. He would much rather have the blood stains on his hands than let any of the others have it on their conscience. There will be times where Tseng will step in for another for that reason. He tries not to, since he is training others to do the job set in front of them, and how to survive in the world of the Turks on their own.
If you ask, and he knows you well, there is a good chance Tseng will share a drink with you after work, and he might let you pick his brain. Only just a little bit though. He does have a sense of humor, but most of the time it's dry sarcasm and jokes meant to pick on the other. His smile comes out a lot more than you think, and he's trying to find it again after being taken from the world he knew so well and thrown into this one. Now he has to decide if he wants to keep living like he was, or change it completely and live a normal life.

III. HISTORY
Tseng lived on the plates of Midgar for a good part of his childhood, and could usually be found running around and playing with the other children on the block, whose parents also probably worked for Shinra. His father was a scientist in the labs of Shinra, and his mother stayed home to take care of him, and usually the other kids as well. She didn't mind the task though, she loved looking after her son and his friends.
When he reached the age of about ten years old, his father offered to let him come to work with him, after checking it over with the proper people. Hojo was reluctant, but everyone else seemed okay with it. That day started out great. Tseng got to see some cool experiments, though of course not the dangerout ones, and see what they did in that lab from day to day. Unfortunatly, everything started going wrong in an instant. Some of the creatures that they were experimenting on started to act out and become hostile. Shuffling Tseng out the door, the little boy was left on his own while his dad helped deal with that.
Using that time to his advantage, he started to sneak arround the building. He wasnt' sure if he was supposed to be wandering around, so he kept to the walls and pillars to make his way around. He managed to make it up a couple of floors before being caught by someone who was apparently watching his every move. Veld Verdot was pretty amused by this little boy wandering around Shinra unnoticed, and asked him where he came from. After telling him his dad was in the lab, Veld decided to just walk him back, chatting with the little one as they went.
What they found would change Tseng's life. The creature was back where it was, but it didn't go down without a fight. There were bodies laying around, and one was his father's. The scientists yelled for Veld to take the boy away, but Tseng wasn't having it. He ran towards his dad, crying. They informed the little boy that his father was the one to get the creature back where it belonged, but it had one final say about the matter before being confined again. Tseng then realized how much everyone in the lab, besides Hojo of course, appreciated his father. He was proud to be his son.
It took a little while, but Tseng was finally able to be a normal child again about a year later. His mother on the other hand, couldn't deal with everything that happened. She went into a downward spiral quickly, and Tseng was sent to the orphanage while her mother was placed in a rehab program for alcohol abuse. Tseng was upset about what had all transpired in two years, but he decided to look forward to the future. He was going to work for Shinra just like his father.
Life went by for about four more years, and Tseng was doing well. He got good grades, he had some new friends, and he even formed a group that trained together. The group made obstacles out of playground equipment, and Tseng would usually always beat everyone. They made slingshots out of sticks, and Tseng had the best aim. That didn't mean he was boastful, but quite the opposite. After he would win the contest, he wouldn't celebrate. He would go to the other kids and help them improve for the next time. None of this went unnoticed.
On his sixteenth birthday, there was a man that came to the orphanage. A very familiar man who hadn't seen since that day at Shinra. Veld Verdot was there. For him. Saying goodbye to his friends was hard, but he promised he'd be back. They left the slums of Sector Five, and headed towards the Shinra building. The first place they went was the labs. Six years had passed, but they didn't look any different. Some recognized him and told them how much like his father he looked. It was great to see them again, and they said they were proud of him, much like his father would say.
Tseng was then taken to a different department and asked if he knew who the Turks were. Trying to recall things his father told him, Tseng said he had heard the name a few times but that was it. Veld said he wanted Tseng for the Turks, and he would start his training while also finishing school in the Shinra building. They started right away, and Tseng flew through training with flying colors from all the practice he had gotten at the orphanage, which didn't seem to surprise Veld. The one thing that took Tseng a bit to adjust to was the fact that he could have to kill someday. So, the now eighteen year old went through some psyciatric evaluation and classes.
Over the years, Tseng became dedicated to the Turks, following the orders he was given to the end. There were some mistakes, as anyone could make, but they didn't stop him. He had even met some friends, one with sunglasses and one with flaming red hair. Of course, they didn't get to hang out often so it took some time for them to become even somewhat close, but they all knew what the others were going through, and could be there for each other. Tseng had also met an energetic SOLDIER named Zack, and instantly took a liking to the puppy-like human. So when the SOLDIER's life was threatened, Tseng acted.
It was too late though, and Zack was found by the military before the Turks, who he was now in charge of. Veld had been "assassinated" by himself, and that was that. He had to move on though, there were still other assignments. Like the new threat of Avalanche, and keeping an eye on the Cetra. Just another day at the office...
