This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. It could be considered an outright miracle that Gilgamesh, a wandering swordsman who was less "swordsman" and more "wandering" these days, could actually prove capable of the necessary basic social interactions to be guided (or at least pointed) toward the nearest civilized settlement with a pronouncable name.
What was it called again? Torsion? Torrentsy? Tourettes?
Wait, nope! Torensten! That's what it was called. Hah, first try, even.
Hyperbole notwithstanding, the enormous walking distance between the Wanderwood and this grand medieval metropolis would have probably resulted in Gilgamesh dying of starvation and thirst, were it not for his present company: a samurai without a name (or one that Gilgamesh could properly enunciate, anyway) who displayed preternatural skill in the use of money as a weapon and commanded a small but rather skilled group of bandits. Having clashed blades several days ago, the two warriors came to reach an understanding of one another in the heat of their battle, and have been traveling the roads since then.
Their presence out in the wilderness limited to just the two of them, as an entire band of renegades and thieves would have drawn attention that nobody wants, the nameless ronin is the first to notice Torensten's great walls. "There she is, my friend! You'll not find a city like her anywhere else," said he, flipping a single piece of gil with his thumb, then capturing it with a swift hand. "and it seems we've reached her in time, too; it seems that there is a festival underway."
Rejuvenated by the singluar mention of "festival", Gilgamesh scrambles forward to get a better look, immediately noticing the abundance of reds and pinks all around. A few of the decorations appeared to imitate the shape of a heart, as well, but for reasons he did not understand, as warm colors were always depicted among his people as symbolic of a warrior's aggression and ardent zeal for combat.
”Are they hosting some kind of battle tournament?” Gilgamesh asked his traveling partner, genuinely confused as to what he was actually looking at. ”Mayhaps there are matadors and bull-fighting, at least?”
The samurai blinked. He wasn't being serious, was he? "In a sense, I guess? Why, do you aim to take part in this 'dance of death'?" An attempt at some bawdy humor, given his own lack of interest for these types of activities. All he was given back was a vacant stare.
Oh no, he's being entirely serious.
The katana-wielding fellow couldn't decide whether to burst out laughing, or sigh in pity. But a most potentially cruel and unusual prank crosses his mind, and in the interests of keeping himself sufficiently entertained, the samurai merely bows his head to Gilgamesh with a smile, as if conceding to the circumstances. "My friend, this is the year's most important tournament of them all! The aim is not to fight for glory, but for the affections of your fellow peers!" It wasn't a complete lie, anyway.
But, as a part of him had predicted earlier, Gilgamesh only focused on the utterance of the words "tournament", "fight", and "glory", his face luminous with the hope of becoming acknowledged as the most superior warrior to ever touch foot to soil. ”Say nothing more! Consider this contest already won!” As if he had been resurrected from death itself, Gilgamesh bounds for Torensten with the figurative quickness of lightning, forcing the samurai to rely on his totally human levels of stamina to keep pace, immediately failing before he could even start.
Surprisingly, getting into the city was the easy part; most of the guards were convinced that Gilgamesh was some type of clown being paid to perform at the festival, and though it deeply bruised the warrior's vast sense of pride, he was careful enough to avoid raising a stink before being let inside Torensten proper.
Once inside, however, Gilgamesh found himself immediately overwhelmed by the abundance of sensory stimuli: the decadent aromas wafting though the air; the celebratory music to lift one's spirits; the sparks of excitement between people as they bathed in happiness and joy—but there was no fighting yet! Perhaps he ought to find the registration desk before the deadline hits...?
It took his new companion three times as long to reach the gates, but by then, he was practically exhausted from all of the running and was let in as a matter of health. For a simpleton of his size, he moves unusually fast... Just thinking about it made his head spin.
Once he entered and was able to regain his bearings, the samurai discovered Gilgamesh at a wooden booth with signage reading as, "Voyage de Amour: Cultural Treasure Hunt Sign-ups", completely oblivious to everything else surrounding him. Even in the midst of his fatigue, the samurai could hardly believe that this fellow was so utterly narrow-sighted as to perceive opponents in every corner of the world, and at the expense of other, more valuable life skills, such as reading.
Instead, the ronin curls his lips up into a smirk. No, no. This is funny. This can only be funny.
After completing the registration process (with a little extra help from the attendant, who also couldn't believe this latest participant was illiterate) Gilgamesh was instructed to wait until the matches were announced. When the time came, his was the eighth name to be spoken, alongside another one: "Quistis Trepe".
Though unsure of whom he was actually supposed to be pitting himself against in deadly mortal combat (or so he still thinks) the swordsman's eyes glow bright with red-hot anticipation, expecting this stranger to be powerful enough to give him a worthy challenge. ”Hark! here I stand now, prepared! Our encounter shall cause the very pillars of creation itself to quake and tremble!”
Several clusters of people began laughing, even as Gilgamesh flexed and posed in a pointless endeavor to hype himself up. He had no idea what was happening, nor was he actually prepared for whom he was about to run into.

[attr=class,text] Quistis was excited to see Torensten in such a state. Would it been able to celebrate if the Storm had not stopped? She hummed thoughtfully at the banners of love and romance. It was time to celebrate their survival and reconstruction! And how better than an event that would bring people together? Even better, there would be an event to learn more about the history and culture of Torensten. How exciting! Quistis hummed to herself as she walked toward the sign ups. Maybe she could learn about her partner too. [break][break] After registering at the booth, she waited patiently for her name to be called. And boy was there a wait. It seemed an interesting gentleman was overly eager to join, but needed some extra time filling out some paperwork. Alas, they did finally call her name with ‘Gilgamesh’. What an intriguing name. She could have sworn it may have been the name of Guardian Force that disrupted Odin. [break][break] But as she stepped up to her match, she was greeted by an old fashioned challenge. She stood there for a moment, fingers covering her lips in surprise. The surprise then melted into a gentle laughter. Not like the mocking of the crowd, but more like the warmth of enjoyment. “Indeed our encounter shall.” She decided to play along in good humor. She lowered her hand down and put her hands on her hips. “As much as I enjoy a good combat, we are to be working together as a team. It would not do for either of us to be hurt.” If anything, his eagerness was refreshing. [break][break] She walked up to him and put a hand out for him to shake in greeting. “What do you say, Gilgamesh? Truce?” She then turned her eyes to look over the sheet the booth gave her. “I think we are supposed to use these clues to find certain ‘treasures’ in Torensten. The first clue is ''Square of legend, now of dance. Here a noble hero rests.' Any ideas to where this leads?” [break][break] She already had one answer in mind.
Under most circumstances, Gilgamesh would have probably found the mocking jeers of the crowd a tad overwhelming, seeing as how he's not very receptive to negative criticism in the first place. But it certainly helped for him to be tone-deaf to their derisions, however, because it seemed that only a single person, apart from the nameless samurai who had been following Gilgamesh around, was willing to courageously de-escalate the whole fracas.
Much to the boisterous giant's total surprise, however, was the fact that he was being graced by the appearance of a young woman with blonde hair, wearing a pair of glasses, and dressed in clothes that gave Gilgamesh the impression of a straight-laced and proper individual, even respectable.
Being the living rollercoaster of emotions that he is, though, his shock at discovering the identity of Quistis Trepe quickly faded away into mild disappointment when she further elaborated that this was not an event for combat, but rather a team activity.
The kind where he was supposed to work with other people.
You know, and not fight them?
Less disappointed and more internally upset about this change of pace than anything, Gilgamesh cast a few angry glares at everyone except Quistis—a not-so-subtle hint that he had been played—and manages to point out his no-name traveling partner sitting comfortably near an apple-bobbing stand, giving the garishly dressed warrior a thumbs up that could only be described as sarcastically dismissive.
That coin-tossing cretin! He set me up to fail! Gilgamesh screams in the back of his mind, furiously gnashing his bottom teeth with a comical sturgeon's scowl as he shook an angry fist in the ronin's direction.
Physically, it appeared as if Gilgamesh was gradually breaking under the pressure of having figured out that the Voyage de Amour was not, in fact, a battle tournament and that his supposed "opponent" was actually there to be a partner and assistant. But if the goal was to win the affection of his peers, how the heck was he he going to do that if he couldn't do it through brute force!?
Oh.
Oh.
Having what may very well be the biggest lightbulb moment so far, a revelation snaps Gilgamesh out of his nervous anxiety and sets him squarely into a state of renewed clarity. Anchoring him to the real world (for now) was Quistis, who pleasantly extended a hand forward as a gesture of good sportsmanship. Even Gilgamesh had to admit, her etiquette proved immensely disarming in a way that he found strangely invigorating, as it brought the mighty warrior back in touch with his own sensibilities. It would give him an incentive to mind his manners this time around.
So, this is a contest of other means, then? Well, if Gilgamesh had ever been good at anything, it was winning contests. What was the harm in joining forces for the sake of progress? Besides, if she claims to enjoy a good fight every now and then, he would have to assess her skills later on—but that's provided she'll even be interested enough, by then!
”I appreciate your candor, Miss Quistis! You shall have your truce this day!” said Gilgamesh, proudly thrusting his own hand into her's to complete the shake, yet being careful enough not to squeeze too hard around it to prevent crushing her fingers between his own.
After formalizing their partnership, the scholarly woman turned her attentions toward a sheet of paper, explaining offhand that the both of them, along with many other pairs for the evening, were given the task of using a series of clues to discover "treasures" throughout Torensten, a concept that was not lost to Gilgamesh. Ah, it was a scavenger hunt! Yeah, okay, this is much more tolerable now.
'Square of legend, now of dance; here a noble hero rests.'
Unfortunately, having never really been here before, the weapons collector had even less of a clue than Quistis did, both in the literal and figurative senses. But if he had to take a stab in the dark... ”So, sue me if I'm taking too wild a swing here,” said Gilgamesh, thumbing an invisible beard as the rusted gears inside his mind churned and groaned for the answers it sought to this riddle, ”but I think we ought to find a spot where there's dancing.”
It... wasn't a wrong suggestion, at least...? There was dancing happening all over Torensten, but it wasn't like Gilgamesh had been aware of it. Yet it seemed as though this lady might know a thing or two about this place. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to stick around and see events play themselves out?

[attr=class,text] At first, there was shock on his face. She was not as he expected. It was quite a common mistake people made with her, and she could easily wave it off. There was always more to her than she felt comfortable showing. And in all fairness, his appearance shocked her too. This was not the type of person she imagined meeting at a romantic event. But she knew that one should never judge a book by its cover. It was the content that mattered. [break][break] Though the man now went about to look disappointed at what the event was and it seemed, by the emotions he wore on his sleeve, he was bamboozled. It also appeared he was not interested in anything at all except combat. Both their expectations of the event would not come to light. But, that was okay. It did not mean they could not have fun. [break][break] Maybe… [break][break] She stood waiting for him to calm down. If he would calm down. She wondered if he would storm off to fume about the event now. All she could do was extend her hand and wait to see if he would take it. [break][break] And, to her surprise, he did so with great vigor. His shake was strong and he seemed eager to at least compete. For the moment, she had his full attention now and he would, at least, indulge her in this silly event. She smiled up at him. She nodded at his answer with an overly serious expression. “Yes. Somewhere with dance.” She said encouragingly. “If I remember correctly, the Square of Legend is Legend Square. They have statues there of great heroes of Torensten. Perhaps we can see if they converted it to a place of dance?” She began to take a couple paces in its direction. Then, she stopped and turned to him. “It’s this way, come on.” She said before hurrying again.
Before he could even so much as blink with bewilderment, Gilgamesh saw Quistis coolly put her best foot forward and take charge, not only providing the flamboyantly-dressed ogre of a man something that closely resembled affirmation, but also disclosing the name of a location they could both investigate: Legend Square. Using the same approach that a mother goose would take with its goslings, Quistis urged Gilgamesh to accompany and keep pace with her if they wanted to solve the clue.
As the teacherly woman expertly navigated her way through the crowds, the eclectic swordsman tried his best to stay close by, yet found it next to impossible to keep from bumping into others on account of his immense frame, doing so repeatedly and with a degree of physical force he certainly tried to put a cork on, but found extremely difficult to restrain, causing the street traffic to shudder as it suddenly congested for a moment while Gilgamesh gingerly pushed his way in the opposite direction, making a few people understandably irritated with the mild inconvenience being handed to them in the process.
”Oh jeez, sorry; pardon me; excuse me, please; I'm terribly sorry; don't mind me, I'm just passing through...” he muttered sheepishly, trying every phrase in the book, even as his body disturbed the flow of people like a carp swimming upstream, until he was clear of the major crush and could finally get some breathing room. Too many people! Not enough air! complains Gilgamesh in the back of his mind, gasping for a taste of fresh oxygen. Huh, were those cookies?
Watching them both from a distance, the nameless samurai felt a most unusual combination between the feelings of enjoyment and shame; how is it that a warrior as powerful and skilled as Gilgamesh could also prove to be this grossly incompetent in a civic setting? And the ronin had lost a duel to him. There was a certain flavor to this irony, yet the katana-wielding vagrant wasn't certain he'd develop a taste for it just yet—he still felt a twinge bitter about the whole sordid affair.
For the time being, however, watching Gilgamesh be put through the paces would prove satisfactory enough, that is, until he was ready to shack up at the tavern for the night.
As the pair of Gilgamesh and Quistis meandered their way down Torensten's alleys and avenues, the festival sights greeted their gaze at every turn: ribbons cut from lavish fabrics and textiles dyed in reds, pinks, and whites, tracing colorful streaks and curves through the air as they ran up and down and all over the sides of every building; potted topiaries cut in the likeness of moogles wielding cute little bow and arrows, as if paying homage to a deity of love; people laughing merrily and having a wonderful time, singing, playing, dancing—
A statue of regal proportions peeks out from behind a structure as Gilgamesh rounds the corner, followed by one more, then another. Music fills the air with a joyous symphony of winds and strings and percussion, lending its listeners a reason to celebrate with vim and vigor. To the collector's delight, he perceives an abundance of civilians and tourists each partaking in the generations-old tradition of "getting their groove on".
”This has gotta be the place!” Gilgamesh shouts excitedly, while earning himself a promotion to the esteemed rank and title of Captain Obvious. He takes turns looking between Quistis and the collection of statues that marked the square as its definitive centerpieces, folding both arms into his burly chest. ”Okay, so, you said that those statues are of the city's heroes,” he continued, ”that seems important within the context of the clue, I think.” A thought then strikes him. ”Maybe one of those statues has the next clue?”
He might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but Gilgamesh would have damned himself to the lowest reaches of the netherworld if he had refused to participate in this game of wits. A contest was like any other: an exchange of attributes, a test of mettle and grit, where only one can walk away with the spoils of triumph and conquest! Even if he had to win it with the help of another, he was determined to begin his legend, here and now.

[attr=class,text] Gilgamesh seemed uncomfortable in such crowds. Quistis did her best to ease him into it as she kept a pace for him to push through the crowd. Though, it might have been a little easier if he went with the flow of traffic. Either way, she let him catch his breath as she took in the sight of Legend Square as they came out of an alley. [break][break] It was beautiful and full of life! The paths were decadently lit by the dim light of magic crystals. The plaza had the smell of exotic spices and delicious foods that made her suddenly hungry. The vendors were selling beautiful gifts. There were fire dancers and music and a dance floor! She watched, her blue eyes wide at the sight. [break][break] Her reverie was broken by Gilgamesh’s exclamation. She turned and smiled up at him. “Exactly my thoughts.” She hummed in agreement. She was sure there was probably a booth set up under one of them. “Now let me think.” She tapped her finger along her cheek as she thought and pointed at one of the statues. It was a robed woman with long hair. She held a long sword with runic symbols in one hand and a warm flame in another. At her feet lay a cauldron, which appeared to be a well people could scoop water from. [break][break] “She is based on the white mage heroine, Brigid. They say Brigid was first spotted to have divine powers when she could hang her wet cloak on a sunbeam, in which the sunbeam stayed to let her cloak dry. She was always helping those in need. It was said when the people starved, she used her powers to bless and cattle so people would have an abundance of milk and meat. It seemed she could multiply food and turn water into healing elixirs. Every act she did was selfless, and her parents and even the nuns, thought she gave too much to the poor. Some say she could even mend vessels with her breath.” She chuckled at the thought and shook her head. “But where she loved her people and gave freely to them, she also believed in protecting home and hearth. Here she was also a blacksmith specializing in protection and household goods.” She smiled and looked back up at Gilgamesh, realizing she had granted so much, surely he didn’t care about the heroine’s history. She cleared her throat and looked away shyly. “She has noble qualities. But, so does…” [break][break] And she found herself ranting about Goemon the statue on another street corner. Goemon was an outlaw ninja who stole from the rich to give to the poor. His statue showed a thin man in oversize, disheveled gi and hakama. Hands up and his face nearly painted up like an ogre, as if to look fierce. And then, she looked toward the center statue. Of King Hremit. “Or perhaps...they mean noble, as in social status not personality traits...There is the King who founded the city as well.” [break][break] She blushed a little and gave a small exasperated sigh at herself. “Forgive me. I’m sure you didn’t want a lecture on its history.” Sometimes when she started on something, it was hard for her to stop. “Should we carry on and check to see if the clues are under either of these?” She turned to go toward the nearest, Brigid.
Rather than discovering the clue he was hoping to find, Gilgamesh instead found himself at the end of a lengthy and verbose monologue from Quistis, who went into great detail elaborating on Torensten's various cultural hero figures. Considering that his range of interests hardly stretched past the topics of either "swords" or "fighting", it was a real wonder he didn't lose interest the moment she opened her mouth to talk.
Very rapidly, Quistis proved to be remarkably knowledgeable about the matter of this so-called Brigid, one of the people whose likeness now resides upon these statues that act as the centerpieces of Legend Square. The scholarly woman even went the extra lengths to describe the characteristics and accomplishments that elevated Brigid's name to the pages of legend; she was a White Mage of considerable skill, so profound as to be potentially divine in origin, capable of performing feats that were arguably supernatural in quality, yet never one to shy away from her innate sense of civic duty and always helped those in need.
Drying cloaks on a beam of sunlight? Alchemical transmutation of water into precious healing elixirs? Offering blessings of abundance? Mending vessels with her breath? Straight up item duplication? Either this Brigid person was a goddess bound in human form, or she was using cheat codes...
Whatever the case may have actually been, Gilgamesh couldn't help but feel honestly impressed, both by this person of supposedly genuine historical veracity, as well as Qusitis for being smart enough to regurgitate all of that without so much as breaking a sweat—
—and then she continued talking, this time, about a person whose name actually caught the swordsman's attention. Goemon? As in, the gallant outlaw who fought back against a corrupt government regime, that Goemon? He who stole from the wealthy and gave to the destitute? Gilgamesh could hardly believe it! He was being regaled with descriptions of a character that, against all odds, reflected the same mental image of the legendary shinobi hero that the wandering weapons collector had in his own head!
But how was this possible? How could a world he had never been to come to possess information about a legend that Gilgamesh had, until just now, believed to be totally obscure and irrelevant in the context of his circumstances. Most curious...
More curious than that, however, was Quistis, who felt it necessary to apologize for monopolizing on the conversation, in a stupendously rare inversion of Gilgamesh's tendency to babble and blather about literally anything and everything. In fact, now that it's being mentioned, it's been a hot minute since he's had any speaking lines...
”Nonsense! You speak as if though I should fault you for being so passionate,” said Gilgamesh in a sympathetic tone, shaking his head to refute the idea that she was doing anything wrong, ”I know nothing of this realm or its customs, so I must learn through experience. That I was to have met and become partners with you tonight could only be a blessing of utmost serendipity for one so lost and confused as I!” It was much easier to say it this way than to just flatly admit that he didn't know how to read signs. It also explains why he's a part of this "treasure hunt", as well.
To prove his point, Gilgamesh gave Quistis an affirmative nod in response to her latest question, whether they should search the feet of each statue for signs of the next clue. But one element of the riddle did nothing except bug the pants off him, figuratively speaking, just as it had crossed the bespectacled teacher's mind before. ”Being a 'noble hero' could either be a matter of status, or one of character,” reiterated Gilgamesh, ”I suggest we check all of the statues, rather than just the one. You may begin with Brigid, and I shall go investigate King—”
Wait. How do you pronounce his name?
”King Hrrr— uhh, Hrree-mitt? Hurr-mit?” His voice lowers into an awkward mumble. ”Hreh-meet? Ho-ray-mee?” Another pause. ”Hing Kermit?” Damn it, that's not right, either! ”D'oh, forget it! I'll check out that other guy's statue! The one that's not Goemon!” Feigning exasperation (but also probably not) Gilgamesh threw his hands up into the air before moving to better examine the statue in closer detail. Who in their right mind comes up with these naming schemes, anyway!?

[attr=class,text] Quistis eyes widened in surprise at the kindness in Gilgamesh’s words. She had not expected that out of him and it really did show that looks could be deceiving. She felt a smile touch her lips as she modestly looked away. “Well then, this event is one of the better ways to learn of the customs here. The people recently overcame a life-threatening ordeal. In a way, this event is to celebrate their perseverance.” [break][break] She chuckled a little, bringing a hand to politely cover her mouth as she did so. Though he was onto something. What was the proper pronunciation? But, it seemed he was already bounding off to check for the clue. She called after him, “I’ll meet you at the King’s statute.” She gave a sigh, followed by hands on her hips and a soft shake of her head. He seemed so enthralled by the scavenger hunt, that it seemed he was missing the entire atmosphere and entertainment for the night. Though, his eagerness put a smile on her lips. [break][break] She turned to push through the crowd to gain access to the Brigid statue. The statute depicted a woman that stood strong, beautiful, and magically. The lights shimmered off the pool of water that lay in the cauldron at her feet. A fountain for all to toss a coin and make wishes. Many couples stood around it with their spare gil. Quistis briefly wondered what she would wish for… [break][break] A soft shake of her head, and she knew in this moment it did not matter. The clue was not here. She turned to make her way to King Hremit’s statue. [break][break] It was there that an attendant had strips of paper with the next clue on it. She was sharply dressed in pink and white, and her hair nicely decorated as she offered out the clues to those who approached her. “Magic lights the night. Note waits where the blue butterfly rests.”
Observing the pair from afar, the nameless samurai who had been traveling with Gilgamesh began tucking into a caramel-dipped apple on a stick, wondering how that bespectacled dame was able to exercise such a remarkable degree of tolerance when dealing with his bumbling and fumbling. Perhaps she has experience contending with such unruly types? From the way he was acting, the swordsman behaved more like an overambitious child wanting to claim the first prize for himself.
As Quistis could not keep him from running off, she opted to inspect the statue of Brigid while Gilgamesh sought to unravel the secrets of the King's monument. ”My superior instincts tell me that there is a secret contraption, hidden from view, imperceptible to all but the most observant eyes,” he rambles to himself, blissfully unaware of the confused expressions worn by everybody that Gilgamesh passed by, ”if I find the mechanism, then I unlock the next clue! I mean, it's pretty self-explanatory; really, I—”
Rounding the King's statue would prove useful to interrupting Gilgamesh's daydream, because as soon as he peeked around the corner, he took notice of a small crowd gathering nearby a woman dressed to the nines in floral pinks and silken whites, offering slips of paper to anyone willing to approach. The warrior frowned, clearly disappointed in this anticlimactic turn of events, but then he got to thinking about it a little, which was always a bad sign. ”Perhaps that maiden yonder ought to lead me in the proper direction!”
Puffing out his chest with renewed bravado, Gilgamesh took big, bold steps into the crowd, easily standing out by being nearly twice the size of everyone currently present and dressed about as provocatively as a water buffalo in a beauty pageant. It was a far cry from how he behaved a little earlier, as he no longer cared about moving against the current, but once Gilgamesh became determined to see himself the winner of any contest, it was like watching an immovable object suddenly become an unstoppable force.
Once he got close enough to strike up a conversation with the woman, to the immediate annoyance of those he had all but shoved or barged past, the sword collector cleared his throat, performing an overly ceremonial forward bow as a matter of courtesy properly owed, to the lady's confusion..
”Salutations and limitless fortunes upon you, O most noble maiden! Might you be so benevolent as to yield a divine blessing of insight upon this most humble and devout adventurer?” The attendant felt her throat clench itself shut with embarrassment. What on earth could she possibly say to, well, all of that? Still, her job was to provide the participants of the context with their next clue, although it seemed as if this whackjob had a vastly different idea of her intended role and purpose here.
Certain it would get him away as fast as possible, the woman carefully lifts her hand up and presents to Gilgamesh a long slip of paper, pinched delicately between slender fingertips.
The swordsman lifts his head up, clearly awestruck by the attendant's supposedly mystical quality, and holds both of his hands up to receive the woman's offering as if though he were a beggar at a soup kitchen. ”I have received your wisdom, O blessed maiden! May it guide me into everlasting prosperity!” He did a little celebratory dance, to the amusement of some and the irritation of others, certain that fate itself was willing to throw him a bone this time around, and determined to cash in on what Gilgamesh believed was long overdue to him.
Now in possession of the actual clue that would lead them forward, Gilgamesh spotted Quistis from above the rest of the small-fry and eagerly waved the slip above his head with a few frenetic shakes, to capture her attention and also convey that he had found what they were looking for... or so he was hoping.
On the sheet read these words, scribbled in bright blue calligraphy:
'Magic lights the night. Note waits where the blue butterfly rests.'
Unless Quistis could verify his suspicions and inspect the note firsthand, Gilgamesh had no way of knowing whether or not he was doing any of this properly. But, given his current degree of enthusiasm, he didn't appear to be all that aware of just how important this little slip of paper really was.

[attr=class,text]Gilgamesh was certainly overjoyed at finding the next clue. Though, some people seemed to be less thrilled by his antics. She could see their annoyed faces as he disrupted their date with his boldness. They would soon be over it. He didn’t do anything to harm them. [break][break] Quistis could easily spot the tall man, who waved the next clue enthusiastically at her. She couldn’t help but give a smile and approach him. [break][break] Now in possession of the actual clue that would lead them forward, Gilgamesh spotted Quistis from above the rest of the small-fry and eagerly waved the slip above his head with a few frenetic shakes, to capture her attention and also convey that he had found what they were looking for... or so he was hoping. She gently took his hands in her palms and guided them down to her eye level. Now she could finally read the clue on the paper, and she did so out loud to him. [break][break]

[break][break] She hummed thoughtfully at the notes. The people finally resumed their normal flow as they eyed her and Gilgamesh curiously. Quistis looked up at him and smiled. “This could only be Plaisir de Magica. It is supposed to be lit up tonight with electric animals.” She told him confidently. “Perhaps we find the butterfly and see what happens from there.” She pointed to a wooden sign that had arrows pointing for its direction. “It is a place for those who wish to learn about magic in a laid back setting, as well as to test their hand at it.” At least that was her understanding of it. [break][break] “Come, this way.” And she was off again, hopefully giving him a way to find her, should he lose her in the crowd. Though as they made their way, she thought back to the wishing pool at Brigid’s feet. “Gilgamesh.” She looked up at him. “If you could wish for something, what would you wish for?” This could be a fun answer.
