Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
For Ashe, there is only silence. It is as though she stands in a black void without sight, without touch, and without time. The darkness pulses through her in chilling currents, and with each -- whispers not from without but from within.
She will have her power. Not now, but soon. That which she desires shall be hers. There are other crystals and other times. They shall lead her home.
Arc casts his spell. For a moment, the magic doesn’t quite focus but as it finally finds its mark, he finds that she has gained a new weakness. Light. While the shadows no longer linger, her affinity for darkness remains.
The crystal’s voice does not bother with Ashe. It does not seem to notice her. Instead, she speaks only with Cissnei.
’The Wraith is weakened,’ the crystal’s voice whispers. ’It sought to break that which binds it to its prison. With the crystal intact, it shall not escape. The fight against it is not yours to undertake.’
Slowly, Ashe regains consciousness. Her many injuries hit her in waves -- the sharp crack of her head against the stone, her scrapes, the cut of wind against her skin. Deep within her a nearly imperceivable sense remains. It is as though a new power lurks there. A new magic that waits at her disposal.
The crystal continues. ’You carry a light within you and with it the favor of forces far beyond yourselves. That light will protect you and see you from this place, but the world has not yet been brought from trepidation. Two fiends still remain along with the crystals which bind them. Those crystals will doubtlessly weaken, and should they fall, the hopes of this world fall with them.’
’Please. Carriers of the light, you must find others such as yourselves. Travelers from another world with the power to alter fate. Journey to the other crystals. Drive away their corruption and protect them from those who would do them harm. For this, I beseech you.’
A sparkling light envelopes them each in turn. Cissnei, Arc, Ashe. All are drowned in amber fairy lights, and with their last glimpses of the altar, they hear the echo of the crystal once more.
’Our hopes lie with you.’
Their vision flashes white. A gentle warmth cradles them, and then they find themselves outside the city walls. The tremors have ceased, but the city has not changed. The smell of rot rolls within it. The streets are empty but for the shambling dead. This place will take time to heal if it can ever heal at all. Still, a new light shines upon them. A light and a promise to be kept.
Far beyond these weathered hills, the sun inches over the horizon. The night has passed.
Cissnei provided her attention to the voice. It reassured her that the Wraith will be contained. But a part of Cissnei wondered for how long. It almost escaped now, could the crystal really keep it in check forever now? Surely there was a way to monitor the situation… She felt slightly dissatisfied with the answer, but there was little room to argue on her end. All she could do was trust that the voice was right. It had not led them astray yet. At least she did not believe so.
Cissnei gave a slight shake of her head with an ironic smile. To think she carried a light inside her? She simply had something to fight for and protect. But, if that light came with more powerful allies, who was she to deny it. With these thoughts, she looked to the statute that held the final set of treasure here. A set of knuckles, certainly fitting for a Turk and her limit break abilities. She took it gingerly in her hands and debated on whether she should keep the treasures for further study, or perhaps divvy them on the fighting styles of the other Turks she may encounter in the future. For now, she placed it and the sash respectfully in her pack.
As the light enveloped her, she looked up to the crystal. Had it made a good choice in entrusting her with its hope?
A moment of disorientation flooded over her. She felt her feet on solid ground. Blinking the whiteness out of her eyes, her first vision was of the new dawn. She thought back to the crystal’s words. They were full of hope, light, and more importantly – wonder. Cissnei heard the promise of more danger and more mysteries to unfold. It peaked Cissnei’s curiosity and her taste for the thrill of adventure.
She turned to see she was back at the entrance of the ruined temple. Its truth stood under the sun’s harsh rays. She had done her part, so she did not feel she needed to further intervene. The mystery solved and the true danger past, she planned only to continue moving forward. Let other adventurers clean out the temple. There was still much of this world she needed to see and people she needed to find. She turned to Amalia and Arc, whom were recovering from the teleportation. “It was pleasure working with you. Travel safely.” She simply remarked, giving a slight nod of acknowledgement. With those words, she turned to head north. The shadowy broken complex one side of her and the rising light of the sun on the other.
I've been screaming out a language that I never knew EXISTED before
One moment that light of the crystal radiated from her grasp, the next there was naught but darkness. It was more than darkness though; it was a state of nothingness. No touch, no sight, no sound. No taste, no smell. If not for her own thoughts, Ashe may have assumed herself to not exist at all anymore. What had she done wrong? Had not the Crystal power enough to displace the shadows, or were their powers to deep rooted and solid to be defeated? But slowly a cold spread through her hot headed being. It chilled beyond that of ice more akin to Death's breathe upon her ichor, her arteries and veins filled with the sensation. The dark had granted her power and the light had not. The thought sunk deeper and deeper down into her subconscious as her being was brought out of the shadows.
Pain. Light. More pain. A groan turned scream. Her eyes watered with the sensation of it all, and her body begged her rest as she clawed her way to her knees. Every beat of her heart brought a throbbing to her temple and she winces as every second brought a new blow. Her skin felt as though she had been lashed by thousands of tiny whips as she leaned against the wall to stand, her Treaty Blade a weight to balance herself. "And what of the Crystal?" Ashe begged but her voice came out weak and pained and specks of blood laced her words on the way out. "Damn it all," she said pounding her against the stone cavern wall, adding the peeling and bleeding of her knuckles to her list of wounds. She wanted to curse them as Cissnei and Arc stood transfixed looking at something she could not see. Her eyes narrowed where they stared as an icy sensation pierced through her sternum as amber light consumed her.
The warmth of the light only caused the iciness in her chest to retreat from her as her feet hit cobbled stone. It was the city they had begun in the worse for wear as they had struggled beneath it. Ashe's blood was boiling as nothing happened in the air. No divine proclamations. No signs of answers. Nothing. Damn the voice that had called to her in her dreams. Damn the monk who could not do her own saving. Ashe hurried from the group the sight of the two of them twisting her stomach into revulsion and her own sense of foolishness for having partaken of the venture. She would have left silently if Cissnei had not spoken.
"Are you daft?" Ashe scream incredulously her words still drenched with blood as she marched in front of the woman. "Twas not pleasurable work we just did. Are you so ignorant as not to see we were made pawns of the divine?" Ashe's face grew dark red with rage and her mood only soured with each beat of pain that coursed through her body. "Damn them and their inability to do their own deeds. And damn us for being so easily swayed. And damn you if you have so little to lose to fancy this a jaunt through the underworld." Ashe was so angry as she held back the tears that threatened to come to surface. All this and still no more an answer to returning to Ivalice than she had upon arrival. She spun quickly and marched off not stopping to see if the boy was alright not realizing that she had in fact been gifted that day as she felt her heart harden with ice resolve.
Cissnei had aptly hope to leave the entire situation behind. What had happened, had happened and it was indeed a lot to absorb. But these were not the companions she wanted to reminisce with or further her journey with. She would have ignored Amalia’s petty tirade, except the woman insisted on blocking her path. Cissnei felt herself prickle, but she was not intimidated. Instead, she reached out to the woman and grabbed her by the collar of her blouse and pulled her right down to be face to face with her.
“Daft? I am not the one that is daft here. The issue is you cannot think about anything except you and your obsessions. Not everyone is as selfish as you are.” Her words dripped with icy rage and her teeth gnashed. She then shoved Ashe away from her and straightened her suit. She met Amalia’s gaze and and lifted her chin. She would not stand here and take this. “I was not used by the divine. The divine’s objectives simply aligned with mine and I worked with it. I know what I am willing to give up. I have brothers and sisters at arms on this planet right now that I wish to protect. And I know I am willing to pay the price of even my life and jaunt through hell to protect them. I have done this in the past and my morals are still the same now.”
She paused and studied Amalia one time over. Cissnei expressions were stony and she seemed stiff with anger. “But, what does that mean to you, when all you can do is delude yourself in believing that all you need in life is power to fill the void inside you. I can tell you now that the only person who became a pawn today was you. Your insecurities and desires are a result of some hole you have in your heart, and you allowed the shadows to prey on your weaknesses and use you as a little toy doll. You endangered us all because of it.”
She let her words sink in she brushed shoulders hard with Amalia to walk past her and continue her path. “Now, if you excuse me, just because you are blind to your path, does not mean you need to hinder me from mine.” As she took a few steps away she added, "I've found my peace. I hope you find yours."
