Welcome to Adventu, your final fantasy rp haven. adventu focuses on both canon and original characters from different worlds and timelines that have all been pulled to the world of zephon: a familiar final fantasy-styled land where all adventurers will fight, explore, and make new personal connections.
at adventu, we believe that colorful story and plots far outweigh the need for a battle system. rp should be about the writing, the fun, and the creativity. you will see that the only system on our site is the encouragement to create amazing adventures with other members. welcome to adventu... how will you arrive?
year 5, quarter 3
Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Click the image for a super easy new skin guide for a visual tour!
Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
1. First and foremost, please have respect for guests, members, and staff that are on the site. We're here to have fun and write! There is zero tolerance for any bashing/disrespect, discriminate/lewd remarks, or any unnecessary tension.
2. We'd like to keep this a positive environment, and as such, will not tolerate unsolicited criticism of other members' writing styles or character accuracy.
3. This site is rated PG-13/T for Teen, as is most Final Fantasy games. Square Enix did just fine without any explicit scenes or unnecessary overuse of strong language (though it's tolerated in small amounts), so both in and out of character, keep the Adult-Only stuff off site.
4. If you have any questions at all, please contact Fin, Lala, or Josh or post in the Staff Questions channel, and please give us at least 48 hours after sending your Discord message to get back to you! If one of us doesn't get back to you by then, or you see another one of us in the Discord, do not hesitate to ask.
5. Dirty laundry should be aired in the backyard, not in the Discord. If someone upsets you, insults you, or otherwise irks you in any way, don't hesitate to go to them off site and talk it over. Also keep Negative-Nancy subjects out of the general chat as much as possible. Obviously if you talk about your bad day when people ask, no big deal. Just don't go being negative all the time for the sake of being negative. Discord bans can and will happen if someone comes in and starts bringing people down.
RP RULES:
1. Firstly, have fun. Don't take IC interactions too seriously. We're literally writing about a game!
2. Godmodding/Powerplaying/Deus Ex Machina/Meta Gaming are all no-no's. You play your character. You are not the main character and you certainly aren't playing anyone invincible or all-knowing.
3. We know that fights will break out. If you have a skirmish between characters, plot it out. If you had seen our character applications, we do not require a list of attacks. Now, this does not mean that skirmishes and brawls won't be looked over by staff to ensure there is no breaking of Rule 2 in any way. Please speak to staff before causing world-altering damage (or blowing up Torensten again).
4. If a character is dropped then they disappear from Zephon and all memory of them may slowly fade. Any future incarnations of this character will therefore not carry on any plot lines or relationships from previous incarnations unless otherwise decided between the two members.
5. All characters must post once per month or receive an inactive status which removes reservations on the character. An inactive character can be reinstated by posting with that character once and then alerting a staff member. Inactive characters are added to a specific Inactive group and can still post without restrictions.
6. If a member needs to go on hiatus for any reason, they can post a Leave of Absence notice to have their Activity Check requirements extended. A member on Leave of Absence can still post with their characters without ending the Leave of Absence. A Leave of Absence notice will cover three consecutive activity checks before it expires.
APPLYING:
1. You'll find the templates that will be used when applying for Original and Canon characters from the Final Fantasy Universes under the 'Starting Out' tab on the banner of the site. The process is self explanatory, just follow the directions on the form, right? So, you're going along and you come to the RP sample. Here's the bonus: if you already have a character accepted, you're exempt from the RP sample.
2. You may start with two characters to apply for. After both of those characters have 15 posts, you may app a 3rd. Then once that one gets 15, you can app another. So-on, so-forth.
3. All Original characters must be from a canon Final Fantasy world.
4. The worlds we consider 'canon' on FF:A are those listed in the Canon List shown under the 'Basic' tab on the banner of the site.
5. Our usual acceptable word count for a good post is generally 300 words. We'll sway on either sides of that number if needed). For those who are applying for their first character, please try to maintain this average when making your RP sample, and include some colored text for dialogue.
6. It is pretty much a given for your character to have some memory issues in regards once they've been pulled from their world to Zephon. Memory loss can span from days, to years, to the entirety of their lives and should be considered normal when being yanked through time and space. If memory loss isn't your thing, don't worry about it! It's not a requirement, just a plot device!
7. You can apply from any point in a character's timeline. Want to give pre-insanity Sephiroth a go? Go for it! Evil Kain Highwind? You have the option! Clarify in your history which point in the timeline you're having your character start out at.
8. For both OCs and Canons, only one staff member will be required for a review and acceptance, barring any points of contention that said administrator has about the application. For the best info about the character, you can always visit The Final Fantasy Wiki and search for your character. For those of use that don't know much about the character you're apping, we'll likely cross reference your application with this Wiki source for accuracy (though, the Wiki has proven to not be 100% accurate all the time).
9. Please, please, PLEASE do not plagiarize. Do not copy-pasta. Do not copy from other applications from other sites. Write it in your words. However, in the instance that you have an accepted app of the character available elsewhere that's yours, feel free to use it, but notify staff of your source and link us to the app for verification.
10. Every character must have its own account with the character's name as its display name. Multiple accounts can be linked under one email address, just click on the "Switch Accounts" button on the bottom right of the screen when logged into a first account and click "Create a new account on this forum."
11. All character accounts must have a 150 x 150 avatar image that you can upload in the Profile --> Edit Profile section. We also require a 250 x 350 cover image which can be linked in the Profile --> Edit Profile section. If you have any issues with image resizing, hosting, or linking please reach out to staff and let us help!
12. There are two classes of summons -- old gods and lesser spirits. Canon and OC summoner characters can choose to be bonded to either one old god summon or two lesser spirit summons. Other characters can expend one job class proficiency, materia slot, or junction to bond to a lesser spirit summon. See further rules, lore, and availability for the Zephon summons here.
13. Characters can bring up to two weapons, one set of armor (where applicable and visible on the character), and one accessory in their equipment. Any further game specific equipment (i.e. - materia) should follow the Game Specific rules set below. Characters do not have access to hammer space unless it's part of their character abilities and so cannot bring more than they can carry. Equipment is physically present and must be reflected on the character.
14. Equipment follows practical, in-world rules rather than strict in-game stats. A sword is going to rip your flesh no matter what its stats are. Unless the equipment has a specific property associated with it, don't worry about game mechanics.
15. All equipment is up for individual review. Please try to keep your choices reasonable! Legendary equipment that kills things instantly or reduces damage to zero for instance will be rejected.
RESTRICTED:
1. Any character (NPC) classed as any kind of deity or summon cannot be applied for. For a full list of restricted characters as well as characters that are allowed within limitations, please refer to the Restricted list below.
2. Manipulation of the site-wide plot through any means other than being directly involved in it via plot threads, or having asked a staff member is barred. This goes hand in hand with Meta-gaming and God-modding.
These include God Kefka, Trance Kuja, Safer Sephiroth, Chaos, and basically every final boss form. Any potentially world-ending state for characters will only be allowed with permission from the staff under special circumstances and would likely be cause for a site-wide event.
Literal Gods
Characters such as Necron, Yevon, any of the fal'cie, Ultima, and the Dissidia deities are off-limits as they are literal, actual gods in their worlds. Some of them exist to bring the world back to nothing. Others can craft kaiju monsters out of the tortured souls of the dead. None of them should be played unless by a staff member for an event.
Gentiana
While we were hoping that the expanded lore that came out for FFXV would nerf Gentiana's current state a bit, the fact of the matter is that she is still very much a god in disguise with all the powers of the Glacian at her fingertips. As much as we'd love to have her riddle-y dialogue, we can't go against our own rules stating 'no summons/gods allowed'.
Jenova
While Jenova isn't technically a god, she is a ridiculously powerful force with no canon personality who can take the shape of whatever she wants and control people from inside of them. While a Jenova version of Sephiroth will be allowed as he's shown to be his own entity, Jenova herself is restricted.
Remedi/Li-Grim
Although for most of Remedi's appearance in the dream Ivalice she appears as the Queen and new fictional mother of Mewt, after her initial defeat it is revealed she is actually the sixth Totema, Li-Grim. Li-Grim is the manifestation of all who wish for the Dream Ivalice to continue on and the maker of it. Without the wishes of these people Li-Grim would not be able to exist as her power is tied to those wishes and Remedi turns out to be a form not a vessel of the goddess.
Arecia Al-Rashia
Though the self-proclaimed "mother" of Akademia's Type Zero appears to be nothing more than the head of Sorcery, she's actually an immortal fal'cie tasked with ending and rebirthing the world in order to open Etro's Gate. As this makes her a literal god, she's restricted.
ALLOWED WITH LIMITATIONS:
Ultimecia
Ultimecia is a witch that has transferred her conscious back in time from centuries using the Junction Machine Ellone to possess Edea. Ultimecia needs the real Ellone to junction backwards from that point in history. Even if Ultimecia and Ellone should meet in Zephon, Ultimecia could only travel back to the most recent witch, which could be her, Adel, Edea, or Rinoa based in time they came from. Therefore, Ultimecia could never obtain Time Compression in Zephon since she there are no witches in the future or past except those mentioned.
Gilgamesh (FF5)
Gilgamesh will only be allowed in his original, FF5 form. In this form he hasn't reached any godlike status and isn't some all-powerful being (though he'll tell you otherwise) that can leap through dimensions to slash you to oblivion with his wonderfully shiny collection. He's just a regular, enthusiastic swordsman. All other forms of Gilgamesh will remain restricted.
Gilgamesh (FF15)
FF15's version of Gilgamesh is a completely separate character from FF5's version that has been given a history and lore in subsequent DLC and expanded media. A human version of Gilgamesh taken from the era of the Founder King is playable. His undead form met by Gladiolus is not.
Ardyn Izunia
Though Ardyn is immortal and wields corrupted daemon blood with the power of Lucian kings, he himself doesn't have any world-destroying powers and he's lost in one-on-one fights to both Noctis and Ignis. He also has a severe weakness to purifying magic, and is only strictly immortal given the influence of Bahamut. With these weaknesses in mind and without his immortality, Ardyn will be allowed.
Caius Ballad
Caius Ballad is over-powered, but his power comes entirely from Valhalla and the Historia Crux which he'd have no access to on this site. For that reason, his most egregious powers would be locked away. A Caius without access to said power would be more than welcomed, however.
Exdeath
Exdeath will be allowed so long as he does not have access to his inter-dimensional powers and cannot open the Rift. Since the Rift as it's known in FF5 does not exist in Zephon, and Exdeath could only open portals to it in FF5 thanks to a long quest involving shattering crystals and merging worlds, those powers are void (pun intentional) on Zephon. However, Exdeath as a dangerous and formidable warlock will be allowed.
Cloud of Darkness
Just like Exdeath, it can be argued that the Cloud of Darkness can't reach any of her world-destroying powers outside of the world of darkness. As long as the Cloud of Darkness manifests in a mortal form without the ability to destroy the world, she / they will be allowed.
Stella Nox Fleuret
While Versus XIII was never turned into a full game, enough information and lore has been released on the cancelled game for someone to reasonably piece together a character. The world of Versus XIII should be considered an alternate universe to Final Fantasy XV, and only characters original to it with enough information can be applied (so basically just Stella). Characterization should comply with released lore.
FF14 Characters with Primal Forms
As noted in the game specific rules, FF14 characters with Primal forms (i.e. - Ysayle Dangoulain) will not have access to their primal forms due to the low aether levels on Zephon. These characters will be allowed without this state.
The Ascians
From being obscenely powerful (Emet-Selch, Fandaniel) to being literal gods (Elidibus) to having various overpowered forms (Lahabrea, Igeyorhm), the Ascians and their Ancient Amaurotine counterparts are simply too overpowered to allow on our forum unaltered. However if a writer thinks of a way to depower them (or they're already one of the weaker Ascians) then we will work with that member until the character is acceptable!
Below is a set of rules specific to each game. This is a running list to answer frequently asked questions and will be updated as we hear more questions in the Staff Help channel of the Discord. For information on summon rules, see the summon lore page here.
FFI:
All FFI party members other than the Dissidia Warrior of Light will be considered OCs.
Party member OCs do not have to conform to the same timeline. As such, different instances of monks / red mages / black mages / ect of Light can exist simultaneously on Zephon.
The Warrior of Light from Dissidia and another Fighter / Warrior of Light can coexist from different timelines
Jack Garland from Strangers of Paradise and an FF1 based Garland can coexist
Crystal wielders from Strangers of Paradise will have access to two of the classes they can learn in the game that they can switch between at will.
Darkness related forms will be off limits to the characters from Strangers of Paradise
FFII:
An FFII character can have one mastered skill with two proficient skills to complement it. I.E: Master with swords, proficient with black magic and staffs; Master with white magic, proficient with black magic and bows.
An FFII character can bring as many weapons as they are proficient in assuming that they can physically carry them.
FFIII & FFV & FF10-2:
To balance unlimited job switching, all classes can be accessed, but not all will be mastered. Pick one to specialize in and two others to be proficient in. All other classes will be considered novice.
Job switching is considered a kind of hammer-space, and these characters can bring one equipment set for each proficient class.
If a character is proficient in the summoner class, that character can be bonded to one lesser spirit summon.
FFVI:
FFVI party members can have one magicite equipped and brought with them to Zephon. This magicite will not summon an esper, but will give access to its spells.
As it is almost certain that the FFVI party member has learned spells from previous magicite, they can arrive with magic already learned.
As magicite and magical prowess are incredibly rare in FFVI, OCs cannot have learned it. They will also not bring their own magicite.
FFVII:
There is no materia available on Zephon except for what is brought on person. Five materia can be brought total.
Up to two materia can be mastered.
Characters can be bonded to one lesser spirit summon per summon materia carried.
Fusion materia from Crisis Core will not be allowed
If your character is fused with the materia or fused with a summon (IE. Elfe + Zirconade or Weiss + Omega), be aware that those summons don’t exist on Zephon and neither does their power.
FFVIII:
Any GFs already junctioned by characters will continue to be junctioned here. Only one junction may be summoned. It must be a lesser spirit summon.
Any FFVIII character can draw magic from enemies. However, please make these draws reasonable and appropriate!
FFX:
Any dead characters are revived to their living forms. Neither pyreflies nor the Farplane exist on Zephon.
An FFX character will have access to abilities from their default sphere grid as well as one of the grids that they were likely to break into after completing their first.
FFXI:
OC characters will have access to two active jobs.
FFXII:
The license board will be limited to the classes defined in Zodiac Age. A character can take two classes as defined in the Zodiac Age.
FFXIII:
FFXIII characters taken from the original game can switch to their three default paradigms roles at will. No additional paradigm roles may be accessed.
Original character l'cie will have access to up to three paradigms as defined in the game.
L'cie will not have access to their eidolons on Zephon. All other abilities and magic will be available.
FFXIV:
The dimensional shifts between worlds is unpredictable and often causes lapses between timelines. There can be multiple Warriors of Light on Zephon.
A Warrior of Light does not have access to the Echo on Zephon
The level of Aether on Zephon is too low to support Aether-triggered Primal forms
A Warrior of Light can have access to only one active job.
Previous prerequisite jobs to the active job will be considered low-level. These should be used primarily for fighting style flair without a significant increase in power level. I.E. - A pugilist that becomes a black mage might have self-defense experience. They would not be a martial artist master that can also blow up mountains.
By the nature of power creep in MMOs, characters from recent expansions are basically at the power level of a full sphere grid Yuna who can 1MP doublecast Ultima without a damage limit. We don't allow a 100% completionist Yuna, and we ask that you reasonably limit your WoL. If your OC red mage can cast what is considered master spells in other games (i.e. - Ultima, Flare, Holy) and also hit like a tank then you need to weaken that character.
Original Characters and WoL's from XIV can still retain their memories of interactions with FF canons, but those canons are considered "alternate universe" counterparts to the original canon.
The AU Final Fantasy canons from XIV cannot be apped, nor can their history be included in the original canon's history. Only characters from XIV can be aware of these AU versions of Original Final Fantasy Canons.
WoL's cannot come to Zephon with any clothing/weapons/vehicles from any original Final Fantasy canon character.
FFXV:
An OC Kingsglaive character can hold up to four weapons at a time plus curatives and items to be summoned from their hammerspace at will.
Every Kingsglaive comes with Warp-Strike, Point Warp, and a glaive barrier that can protect from attacks but drains MP to use. These will cause stasis as character drains MP.
Newly apped Kingsglaive OCs can choose three spells up to the second level "-ara" power with a fourth that can be brought to the third level "-aga" power. You may choose your spells from the following: Fire, Blizzard, Lightning, Dia, Poison, Cure, Esuna, Protect, Temper
Lucian kings are limited to summoning only four of their royal arms. As they are far removed from the crystal which grants them power, their armiger can be accessed, but it will use all of the king's power and remaining MP, tiring them out afterwards.
A Lucian king's "Armiger Unleashed" ability (the power used by Noctis to fight Leviathan and Ardyn's final boss form) is restricted by the distance of the crystal. It can only be used in specific, one-time power-up moments as approved by staff.
FFXVI:
Dominants can keep their magic and semi-primed states, and can regain these abilities even if they are taken from a point where these have been lost. However, as writing summons is not allowed on Adventu, they will not be able to fully prime into their eikons.
Clive Rosfield will be treated as any other dominant, having access to only his own inherent abilities through the blessing of the Phoenix and the power of Ifrit. He cannot take power away from other dominant characters.
As a non-sentient wolf, Torgal cannot be applied for independently. However, if Torgal was present at the time that Clive was brought to Zephon, he may be brought with Clive and written by the same writer. Torgal will retain any abilities in game.
Whether or not a magic-using character suffers the effects of the curse is up to each individual writer. However, as no instances of Ultima may be carried to Zephon (see restrictions on god characters above), Joshua's specific wound would be healed.
Dominants may not create egi on Zephon. A singular instance of an existing egi can be brought to Zephon like any other character, however.
Dissidia:
Characters do not retain their memories of the Dissidia cycles once crossing over into Zephon. They will not recall their interactions with the characters of other Final Fantasy games.
What can be used from Dissidia: A feeling about being trapped in strange cycles, move sets/weapons (since this is important especially for the earlier Final Fantasy characters!), and expanded history for the Warrior of Light and Garland.
